Is blacksmithing better than engineering?
Is engineering better than blacksmithing?
As a warrior, it's best to choose blacksmithing than enginnering, becasue you can make armour for yourselfs. But when I learnt blacksmithing, I found that I'm lossing money. So I unlearnt blacksmihtnig and learnt enginnering, then I found I'm making golds in an hour. Then I regretted because I had to look for something else to make armour for me. Should I keep enginnering or should I go back to blacksmithin

Damn, how in gods name are you making cash with engineering ?
C'mon, spill the beans
Both tradeskills are good for making coin.
I play 5 characters and have all tradeskills covered so I can be self sufficient, and those are 2 of the better money making tradeskills, but you will have to discover what sells well on your own.
Best money making item in Engineering is something that is not obvious and requires a very low skill to produce. That's all the hinting I will give you.

I'm a 300 Armorsmith. It's ok. There is no money in it. If you want to make money, either farm for Arcane Crystals or farm with herbalism.
Engineering is definately more useful than blacksmithing hands down. But neither is much of a money maker. Like I suggested above, gathering skills make more money then anything else.

Haha i make tons of money with my troll.
Selling certain kind of dynamite for 40s for 5 makes you ALOT of cash real fast.
I chose blacksmith, because I heard that was a good choice for a warrior. But I never made any decent money off of it. I also wasn't able to make much for myself that I used for any amount of time that made it worth it.
Unless you are making arcanite reapers near endgame, I doubt your services as a blacksmith will be required much.
I've never been an engineer, but I would suggest keeping it. You'll end up making neat things to play with and if you are a pvper you can make stuff that will help you with that.
U mean the EZ Dynamite? People actualy buy that worthless thing? Sure its usable by all but its dmg output is...worthless. As an engineer, i made some money by making lenses, I even got my other char (herbalist) to collect some other ingredients to save me money, but selling lenses is not very profitable anymore.

No i mean either coarse or solid dynamite.
correct me if im wrong, but only engineers can use all dynamites exept EZ Throw one.

ugh, I meant sell the dynamite to merchants.
sheesh.
LOL i spend 2 days once calculating many engineering recepies, and i came to conclusion that iron grenades (or bombs, cant remember now) are the most profitable to make (according to components to price of the final product ratio) and even with that, its not too profitable, yes i gain some profit but not as nearly much. One might say its cheaper sometimes to sell raw materials then bother wasting time in collecting them all, making subcomponents and then the product itself.
You might get some sort of profit out of this method if u camp resource nods day and night, but thats a waste of time in my opinion. You cant get much profit from engineering by casualy practicing your engineering. You gain MUCH more profit by casualy making armor/weapons, especially at higher levels.

how bout blacksmithing, I heard that people are making tons of gold through blacksmithing.
how much profit do you actually make. Some materials can be sold for more money than the item made itself..
well for me you say golds in an hour uuuuuhhhhhh.... i would just use that money to buy armor but ane way when u get high lvl you wont buy anything youll pretty much get everything from instances youll have to buy maybe a few things like maybe you would see an uber weapon but if u make that much money with enginerring just keep on doing it find allur stuff save ur money and if u see a REALY good epic u want u can buy it.

But you're talking about mining right? Not blacksmithing.

Sorry was talking about engeering and mining. I wish that trade skills items were better than the drops. Would give more of a reason to craft and sell.
Comparing high level of engineering to blacksmithing, there are practicaly NO engineering recepies that you can sell for profit. I dont count selling dynamite to NPCs because its just not worth it. If you make 2-4 gold by collecting ore to make and then sell dynomite, and then compare to what you could of made and sold as a blacksmith, I think its clear that blacksmithing is much more rewarding then engineering.
No doubt you CAN make money by farming engineering supplies, but with the same effort and time you can make much more as a blacksmith.
Especially if you are advanced smith such as weaponsmith or armorer. Those blue and even purple craftables are realy nice. Yes of course you can get better items from raids but not everyone can do that. I for example, am a soloist, i rarely do raids or dungeons, so im mostly restricted to whatever drops i get of regular mobs, auction or craftables. Taking into consideration there are many people like myself, I would say blacksmithing is much more profitable then engineering because there are many items that can be sold to PCs, compared to engineering where you are pretty much forced to sell to NPCs. And you all know NPCs are comparable to farengies in trading.
