That's correct, if you're not interested in world pvp, then faction choice is mostly cosmetics - as in different faction outfits, different background ("templar mode" as you wrote, with crusader-like past, stuck-up noses and british accent image), etc.

However, if you like the adventurer approach and the story, it's good to play through the game with all 3 factions, for getting the full picture. There are faction missions, where each faction plays a different part of the same mission, and also during the "regular" missions there are differences and additional infos based on your faction. Sometimes NPCs have different lines too.

Not to mention there are decision points during the story, and with Issue #11 there are different outcomes based on the choices you've made, so it's good to have at least two characters, and choosing differently :) (I mean, if you're a completionist like myself, with seeking every possible ending in adventure games). And if there are (at least) 2 characters anyways, why not have them on different factions, right?

Wildstar definitely sure looks interesting. And guess PvE server is sort of populated. Except, from my understanding...even the PvE server is kinda dead population wise. I didn't really like their raid or die mentality either, since I prefer more freedom of choice in games. Like WoW, I've done raids with groups...but I'm not forced to. And I've done some arenas, but I'm never forced to do that either. I think that was what I liked about MoP was there was a ton of choices. WoD seemed a lot more limited in that regard and probably why I didn't like it.

Maybe Wildstar is like that (more choices), but that wasn't how it was advertised (at least that was how I understood their advertising, maybe I understood wrong.) Still, I dunno if I'd want to get Wildstar if its likely to go buy to play or free to play lol. I'm kinda just waiting to see how it develops.

What I'd actually really like is a game like Tabula Rasa or CoH or Auto Assault lol. But NCsoft hate western games (except Guild Wars) and either canned them when they were making money, or/and purposely sabatoged them (like AA they refused to do advertising and didn't even give them a chance, and TR where most probably know that story)

TR they had really good AI that attacked, did formations and what not...it was WAY more dynamic than GW2 and AI was actually the best in the MMO world...no MMO still has done that good of AI. The game itself was a lot of fun too, was one of my favorites. Defiance is "sort" of similar in a way, but the AI is typical MMO AI

Auto Assault was also really epic...driving around a car in an MMO world like mad max sort of. Mowing down little NPCs in a massive vehicle or blowing them up with your gun. Destroying the environment and blowing everything up. It never caught on though. But tops #1 in my favorite MMOs I've ever played. Its where I met one of my best friends in the netherlands too, and we've known each other for since AA was released...so a really long time.

CoH I dunno why NCsoft canned it...it was doing really good. But it was an epic super hero game. Never got into Champions or DC Universe cause I always prefered CoH :P

Go figure the worst MMO company published 3 of my top #3 favorite MMOs lol

But TSW is good too. I'd rate it in my top 5 so far, but I'm only in the zombie area. Its vastly better without all the stupid quest helper stuff...that really ruined it. But luckily thats all turned off now. Have to do a lot of thinking and exploring. Voice acting is good too.

Actually, looking at my favorite MMO list. They are all rather different in gameplay, scope and entirely different styles of game, except they are all really unique (for most part) and one of a kind. So maybe the MMOs I tend to like more are the ones more unique to the genre. They all did really good PvE too. Or in some cases, good optional PvP. The only exception to a sort of unique MMO I didn't get into is SWG...I thought it was rather grindy (which Asheron's Call was grindy, but felt a lot more fun and fast paced) and got boring.

Asheron's Call (though this was mostly cause it was my first MMO. But it was fun and not really any MMO has copied yet. It had a diablo-like loot system, seamless open world and could be played 100% solo or 100% group...I found tons of social interaction in it and it was never forced. And darktide was amazing for PvP, but it was an optional server I had an alt on...could still do the PvE servers (that also had optional PvP on them lol.)...plus AC had tons of GM led events and amazing unique npc races (like Olthoi are still some of my favorites in any game lol)...and Bael'zharon was epic

TSW (though its sorta early...the true test is if I make it past 30 days. But I'm really enjoying the new update and fixes to the quest helper (or the ability to turn it off anyway)...really unique atmosphere and the missions are good so far. Not really any MMO like it

City of Heroes (was first super hero MMO, and even after I tried others, no super hero MMO beat it for me)

Tabula Rasa (some MMOs have done a bit similar things. Like rift, or GW2...but I have yet to see an MMO where the AI launches sieges and can capture cities/forts with dynamic combat and a true dynamic PvE experience)

Auto Assault (well I think the MMO speaks for itself. No MMO has ever tried to make a clone of it)

WoW (Speaking of first day release, not expansions after (which I liked for most part except cataclysm and WoD). I consider it unique. It isn't because "warcraft"...I never even liked warcraft rts games. I was more into Age of Empires 2 when warcraft was the thing. In fact, I actually thought warcraft was lame (yup). And thought warhammer was way better. But to be honest...I did beta...I started as a troll...saw I could swim underwater (I know, simple right)...and was like "holy shit I can swim underwater"...and still very few MMOs let you swim underwater rofl. But the whole game was just fun and didn't feel grindy at all to me. Plus the atmosphere was amazing, and got me liking warcraft :P Still don't like the rts version lol, but it got me into the warcraft lore.)

And actually thats pretty much all the MMOs I ever stuck with at all. Except TSW being the new one in the bunch.

Does that help at all with suggestions? :P
