New MMORPG help please!

Enigma346Enigma346 Member UncommonPosts: 8
I'm looking for a new MMORPG. Don't really have a preference on what kind but I want it to be F2P and I don't want the cash shop to run the game, as in P2W. I haven't really tried a lot of these type of games as I have played mostly subscription games. Money is tight right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please tell me a bit about the game, a brief summary if you will.

Always best to start these threads with what you've already played, and what in particular you enjoyed about a MMO in the past (and what you didn't like)  Payment model is one criteria, but shouldn't be the principal factor for choosing a game, has to be fun first and foremost.

Makes it much easier to offer suggestions.

The best advice I can give would be look at which one suits you aesthetically as well as by theme/IP.. As most offer pretty similar game-play experiences in the F2P realm.

Payment is a big thing for me. I can't say fun, because everyone has a different definition of fun and that would be pointless to ask for a fun game :P . As for games I have played and enjoyed, WoW, FFXIV, UO. I've played more but those are the ones that come to mind as of this second. I really don't have a specific type of genre for the MMORPG that I am looking for. It can be fantasy and so on.

Rift is one where you can play a big chunk of the game to level 50 without spending any money and its a pretty good game to boot.

And if you have at least enough cash to just buy the game, any of GW2, TSW or ESO let you play the whole game without spending another dime.

And BTW... the 4 I mentioned above are all in the top 5 voted games here. The other one in the top 5 is a sub game and you've already played it, FFXIV.

I thought about ESO. Just wasn't sure. I heard a lot of bad things when it first came out and now I hear good things. I wish they had a trial before I bought it. That is one game that is on my top list to get though. I appreciate the advice!

IF you want to give SWTOR a try this link will help you out, it unlocks a few cashshop items like show titles, allow colors to be modified on gear through the character sheet, etc.. http://www.swtor.com/r/GtTwDg

The website link you gave does not work. It gave this error "

    This webpage is not available"

Also, I forgot. But I have played this and did not care for it much. Kind of made me bored.

There was a lot of exaggeration, both pro and con about ESO. I'm still enjoying it after a year.

It's a good themepark PVE MMO with a huge PVP component that is all about emergent game play where you can run with the zerg or run in small groups or solo (with the right build.)

Its strengths are the ability system that lets you experiment with all kinds of builds and well-written solo quests in a very pretty world. The combat is a hybrid action / tab system and group play in dungeons is trinity based although tanks are not aggro magnet gods.

There are thousands of hours of twitch archives and youtube videos to check out but unfortunately for you, no free trials now or any time soon.

You've gotta give the community something to work with.  Like earlier posts said.  space, fantasy, zombie?  What games have you tried?  PvP or PvE.  You'll get a much better response.
