I have been playing MMO's constantly since AOL Neverwinter and Ultima Online so I am an old school RPG/MMORPG kind of guy. I had been looking for an old school themed game and I finally have found the game I believe I will spend a great amount of time playing.
Wurm Online. It doesn't have top notch graphics but what it does have to offer is unique and very refreshing. A sandbox RPG with limitless things to do, plenty of PVE and/or PVP, player housing, constant updates, full loot environment, and a fun and helpful playerbase, at least on the server I reside.
If you do decide to check it out, I only ask you give it more than a half hour of your time, as the true depth and amount of fun this game has to offer is not immediately apparent and may take some time to realize. If you like games that throw you into an open world with bare essentials and the challenge of surviving, this is your cup of tea.
The Epic server is the newest and will put you on the most even playing field as a new player from what I understand. Hope you check it out as this game definitely deserves more acknowledgement!

I played Wurm Online for a few weeks, the community seems to be quite mature, helpful and alot older then many of the games ive played, which is nice.
There is a chat channel just for asking questions and people are always eager to help and teach.
The click to look around takes some getting used to and even the simplist of tasks is a long hard thing to do.
Combat is rather dull its basically turned based combat and you can just put it on auto, even killing a chicken at low lvls can be a long boring task. but combat is not the focus in this game.
I was really excited about this game for awhile but it soon started to feel like work as everything i wanted to do was a big task. Just going to visit a friends place can take a whole day, and as the maps are pretty useless theres a good chance youll get lost many times and never find there house or yours.
Overall if you have alot of patience and dont like things to be too easy and you enjoy crafting and building then this game could be for you. After playing for awhile i now understand why this game has mostly older players, it takes alot of patience to enjoy it and doesnt have most of the comforts and ease of use that modern gamers are used too.
