The Eastern MMO connoisseur over at Steparu has just put up a nice look at Black Desert's largescale PVP. Revel in the sheer madness that is 100v100 warfare in the upcoming sandbox MMORPG. And yes, this is in the open world, not an instanced off area.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

Start with a billion dollars and make an MMO.
And did not get attacked while carrying it.
looks like the expected clusterfuck...
and what is it with asians and their stupid costumes? how immersive...have they ever heard of roleplaying in korea? or can they only roleplay as a pink dancing panda?
It looked like fun I think and I think there was manageable lag if what I saw was right.
You know the anime culture, cosplay and other aspects of manhwa, manga and other parts of the Korean and also Japanese culture gives rise to a type of dressing and design choices that baffle Western players. They are however unique to those cultures and they seem to elicit some strong reactions from players unable to accept them.
sure, but what i cant understand or stand and why i will NEVER play an asian mmo - devs take YEARS to craft a detailed and immersive fantasy environment, a realistc gritty medieval world - and then they ruin it within seconds due to guys running around in koi costumes...that to me ist ust a waste of all that work - if at least they would have rp servers excluding this kind of behaviour....well im waiting for the next western mmo then

Sheer madness is the perfect term,no idea how anyone can enjoy something like that.Pure spam with tons of nameplates all over the screen,i could not follow one single combat sequence,it was just a mush of a mess on the screen.
I feel the intrigue for this type of combat has always been to the weaker pvp players, they feel safer in numbers and feel they can get a lucky kill on some unsuspecting player,i mean how could you suspect an attack when it could come from any direction.
I never even liked 4 on 4 pvp,if anything i prefer 4 max and free for all WITH COVER,i can't stand open based combat where players just run out in the field and start spamming dps.BTW i am or was a huge pvp fan,i grew up playing the best pvp games ever Unreal Tournament and Quake,so it is not about me not liking pvp,i just prefer controlled and organized pvp.

What are the circumstances for this video? Was this an invitation event, with everyone playing in the same building, or actually people playing over the net? What was the average ping and bandwidth?
Spell and attack effects look nice and will be the first people will want to turn off, because it obscures the battlefield and sucks up precious FPS.
Basically, scroll back a year or two in the Guild Wars 2 forums and ask all the same question about stuff that didn't work in their WvW: is BD doing it any better?
I think you are expecting something that is not really a concern to some of their players.
It's like the players in the west who can't understand the over-sized weapons or the unrealistic armor.
I suspect that their games' visuals are "about something else". It's not about being realistic. The opposite really.
Additionally, I once proposed that these eastern characters might in some way be their version of "super heroes/villains".
Powerful, over the top, stylishly costumed, etc.
Super hero tropes are sort of accepted even though people may or may not like them. I imagine the same goes for their over the top characters.
Just a guess but it's something that I've been mulling over for a bit.
