Probably been done a thousand times before, and will probably be done a thousand times from now, but I have to ask.
Anyways, I started playing World of Warcraft shortly after it came out, and I got hooked on that. Unfortunately, or maybe even fortunately, I didn't share the same problems everyone else has when reaching level 60 in it, my problem was the completely inane grouping system in general. I solo'd the entire way to 60 with a few breaks for grouping in between. Not from lack of trying, simply from A) not wanting to go through instances, and no one wants to group in the game unless it's to go through an instance.
For those of you that haven't played the game, I'm being very literal there. Unless it's somehow related to an instance, you'll rarely ever get in a group because there are so few "elite" quests/encounters you need bother with, everything else can be solo'd.
So, I moved over to Everquest 2. I haven't gotten too far in Everquest 2, at least not far enough to definitely judge it's grouping potential, but I found another problem with the game. It's far to centralized. The thing I like about a new game is exploration, and finding new areas, branching out, etc... And I'm sure you can do that in Everquest 2, but there no matter how you shake it the game is very much centered around Queynos and Freeport. Even the feel of the game, I keep getting the thought "All roads lead to ****" stuck in my head every time I play. It's one thing to have a few major hotspots, but to practically design a game around point A and point B, yikes... Not to mention attempting to craft in that game only adds incredibly amounts of frustration unless you're willing to take many notes or can memorize materials required for reciepes.
So I started looking around, but haven't come up with much in the way of alternatives. I played Star Wars Galaxies once, but unless something has changed the whole enviroment is pretty much barren wastlelands with scattered towns/points of interest. Wouldn't be so bad if there so wasn't so much "nothing" (wasteland) and so little "something" (everything interesting).
Dark Age of Camelot looked interesting, but starting fresh from there is apparenlty a lesson in tedium because everyone power levels up quickly so there isn't too many people to play with/group with in the lower levels.
Other than that I did play Saga of Ryzom in the end of it's beta stage, and it looked intersting but was far to buggy for me to stick with at the time.

Bugs that plagued game at release have been fixed.
Yes, Give FF XI a try, it awasome, except waiting for party, i ever wait for 12 hour for waiting party invitation, and no one invite me [full equip] and i am a bard, probably because too many jpn people don't want to party with us, they keep saying JP only, but overall, that games is A++, i would recommend it too to all of you that have a big time to play.
Please make sure before play, You already take the risk of being addict, because FF XI is a addicted game

When i quit i was a 55bard/ninja. I know i know, weird combo...but it was damn fun. I had no problems getting groups, ever. I WAS in a pretty large guild, however and i think that accounted for alot of my groups.
On a side note: Playing FFXI will make you better at speaking Japanese....seriously.
