3 year old game.....

time007time007 Member UncommonPosts: 1,062

wasn't this game released like 1-2, or even 3 years ago in Korea?  Was just wondering when it was actually released.  As we, American players might be viewing this as a "new" game, but it might be a bit dated? let me know your thoughts ppl.

EDIT: Ok I read in an article, this game is from 3 years ago. Great, we can play a game from 2012......

No one's forcing you to. :P

And I think just about everyone already knows how "old" the game is.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Should be better right? 3 years to produce more content and all that. We EU players will be viewing this as a more fleshed out game rather than an old 'game'.

Its not like we got a influx of new mmos past few years. So you should be happy to have the opportunity to chose if you want to play it or not. These years its all about Mobas anyway, they are the new drug. Oldschool-MMOs where you have to invest alot of time just dont fit in this era.

I think BnS will do fine due his action oriented combat system. It will also be released on consoles later.

Well when I played Aion, lots of people thought it was an American game.  And lots of people thought it sucked, and I had to tell them, this is like the number 1 Asian MMO (at the time) hehe.  So you'd be surprised, but there will be lots of people seeing this game, and be like "wow this is another crummy old looking Asian MMO", or may think its another NCSoft American old looking game etc.

Too bad we couldn't get this game 3 years ago......same goes for Archeage.....

But I guess, the popular Asian MMO's might not have the funding or popularity stateside to safely get it released here so they wait until its established after years in Asia.   I suppose that will be the trend for any 2015 Asian released MMO's that we will get them in 2018.

That's such an odd way of looking at things. So what?

It's new to most of us.

I just got finished with Baldur's gate. Not only a great game but was made years ago. Pillars of Eternity hearkens back to older games.

I've been avidly playing skyrim since launch and also playing morrowind even though I played it for about 2 years when I first played it.

There is nothing wrong with a game being older as long as its features are features you find engaging.

you are right my friend...as long as people find the features you want are available people will play  .for many players tho, an important feature is graphics or visuals being cutting edge/up to date.  Now the amount of weight people put into graphics/visuals differs, but for those people who are looking for up to date visuals will be disappointed and just move on.

Tho maybe they can get a big playerbase who just like it.  I mean I will definitely try it out.  I liked Aion, Archeage, and World of Kung Fu.  But this game feels soooo 2012 hahah.

What's wrong with the age of the game?  If anything, a lot of the bugs are ironed out, balance issues, and a host of other things have been worked on.

My experience playing Blade & Soul...it was boring, buggy, and bad. One of the more easy games to have hac programs work in, pvp so out of balance it screams just play the two power classes. The uninstall was my most positive memorial part of playing that game.

Skyrim.  Skyforge. Are two I can think of off top of my head. Though in Skyrim's case, you need to be playing PC version, and have the right skeleton, and mesh mod for it. Don't know how I know that... *whistles innocently and walks off*

    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

No worries, you'll get plenty of noobs in the actual game that still think it's new. You're just not likely to find many on this site. xD

Oh, and new or not, plenty of them will find stuff to complain about. Just look at all the games that are actually new and how much whining there is about those.

Well the graphics are Anime style and I'm not really sure what "up-to-date" Anime style graphics would look like.  I personally think it looks great.  The game feels soooo 2012?  What exactly does 2012 feel like?

Well look, I like graphics as well. Heck, I get it when people don't want to play a game because the art design is not to their liking.

but every video game released is going to be locked into its "graphics" for several years upon release. It's the nature of the beast (no slant rhyme intended).

So people can either be realistic and look more toward art design than "graphics" or people are going to constantly be playing games immediately and then giving up on them quickly because a new "shiny" has been released.

Nothing great coming out here anyways. So what if its not brand new. You don't have to play it. It would seem that the East is on a roll releasing games to the west now. People must be enjoying them because a lot of them are getting ready to come here.
  • GardavsshadeGardavsshade Member UncommonPosts: 907

I play a MMO that's 7 years old, another that's 8, another that started in 2003 and I played one this past winter that's been around even longer than that.

3 years old in MMOs is a personal reference only. A valid personal preference, but not doom and gloom for sure.

Blade & Soul? Me? Nope. Have fun and enjoy yourselves though.

  • booniedog96booniedog96 Member UncommonPosts: 289
I can't understand why gamers (especially from the MMO genre) need validation from other gamers about the title one is interested in playing.  Blade & Soul is also going to be a f2p title when it hits our shores.  So, download it and try it out, if you don't like it - uninstall.  It should be that easy.

I get the fact that you just dont know anything about the game, and that you may be ignorant of things.  So let me help you out here, 3 years old or not this game has the best combat of any game I have played. the look and feel of this game is still top of the line.

The negative part is the grind.. its is after all a Asian MMO.   I for one and happy to move off the  China server and actually read the quest I have been doing

russian server is nearly full english :P , is fun game but lacks depth , is just quest hub , after quest hub , there is a main quest and the combat is fun but outside of that doesnt bring anything , would have been better if it was a lobby game with dungeons and bosses like Vindictus ect  , the game is almost there with some many instancing  (same system as swtor class quest )

I tried the Russian server , and its not anywhere near full english. Its more like broken english.  Not to mention that the game they run is still  a old beta client so its play style is lacking when you play them both.  its ok for a emulation game but its not the real thing

I don't know how "old" the game is.  And I don't know a single gamer that does, and I know probably close to 40 in our group.

So don't you mean that everyone that plays it already knows?  That is hardly everyone.

  • shalissarshalissar Member UncommonPosts: 509

Yeah, so? If I've understood the prevailing complaint around here it's that mmos have been the same for the last ten years. So it doesn't really matter if it's a paltry 3 years old, now does it?

everyone knows the game is old in Korea already. That doesnt mean we westerners have to reject it if it comes here. WoW is 10 years old and still the most played mmorpg in the west. A 3 year old mmo coming fresh to US/EU is OK if the game is good. I played the Russian version and although IMO its not worth a sub, its definitely worth playing at least for some time.
