Pillars of Eternity: New Card Game Announced!

The team behind Pillars of Eternity has partnered with Zero Radius Games to bring a new card game set in the Pillars universe. The project can be found on Kickstarter here.

 

 

 

Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout: New Vegas, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic IISouth Park: The Stick of Truth, and the Kickstarter funded Pillars of Eternity, announced today they are entering into a partnership with Zero Radius Games to launch the upcoming card game, Pillars of Eternity - Lords of the Eastern Reach.

 

Developed by Zero Radius Games, Pillars of Eternity - Lords of the Eastern Reach, is a multi-player card game designed by veteran game designer Chris Taylor (Lead Designer Fallout 1) along with Obsidian's own Scott Everts and John Lewis.  Featuring characters, locations, and items from the popular Pillars of Eternity computer RPG,Lords of the Eastern Reach if a fast competitive game set in the unique world of Eora.

 

"We are hugely excited to bring Pillars of Eternity to board and card gamers like us" said CEO Feargus Urquhart.  "Using Kickstarter to fund the Pillars of Eternity computer game has allowed us not only to deliver an amazing electronic experience, but now let's us expand the Pillars of Eternity universe with new and different games."

 

"Having been friends and colleagues with the team at Obsidian, partnering with them for this project is natural fit", said Designer Chris Taylor.

    Good to see there will be a digital version as well.  Just moved to another state recently and I have not found a decent board or card gaming community around here yet.

    There will not be a digital version.  They are giving away PoE with it in some levels of the campaign.

     

    And the lowest tier that includes the game is way too expensive for a kickstarter.  This is more like just asking for preorders.

    I'd disagree that the game tier is too pricey. It's what an established gaming company like FFG with a solid supply chain charges for a product like this. For a new shop that has, to my knowledge, made nothing commercially yet, there's probably not a lot of margin there. A $20 starter box would be nice and all, but costing the tiers sensibly so that they can actually deliver on the rewards is important.
