Well it's getting a new browser. Internet Explorer is being replaced with Microsoft Edge.
The new icon is a stylized E with a comb over.

On my gaming rig, benchmarks for win 7, 8.1 and windows 10. Windows 8.1 wins every time. Only advantage so for is Windows 10 will be the OS they use for PCs and Xbox. So titles written for Windows 10 can be cross platform. This will get more game companies wanting to make games for Windows 10 as its open to more homes. This could also makes games cheaper for Windows 10.

You don't want it right now, believe me.
They have a LOT of ironing and bugfixing to do to meet their release date of the end of July.
The current build was not entirely stable to say the least.
(But I still pick that over that dreadful Windows 8/8.1 anytime)
I understand you don't like win 8.1 no prblem there we all have our favorites, im also not fond of all win8.1 have to offer, but dreadful?.. not even close it performs well and eventually you get use to some things even tho it's not my favorite but windows 8.1 is not that bad at least its very stable and bit faster then windows 7.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

DirectX 12 support, for starters. It will also have some sort of XBox integration - I don't think it will play XBox games directly, but it will tie into the social aspect of XBL, and let you stream games from your XBone or something of the sort.
I don't know if we are finally getting WinFS with this release or not - it looks like not, but that would be a pretty big deal across all fronts if it shipped. Cortana (Microsoft's version of Siri, it's out on Windows Mobile now) comes to the desktop (for those that care). The new browser, which will probably continue to get ignored by most saavy people for FF/Chrome/etc.
There will finally be native support for virtual desktops. This has been on Linux/OS X for a long time now, and it's pretty nifty feature to have. It's been available via third party stuff for a while now though, so not really "new".
Mostly, it looks like they took Windows 8.1 and hoovered out most of the suck. DirectX 12 is the only thing most gamers will really care about - nothing current is DX12 compatible, but once games start to ship that are, it has the potential to set the new standard.

I've been using Windows 10 for the better part of 3 - 4 weeks now with the latest insider preview edition and had 0 issues
games running better / full compatibility with all my old stuff, faster loading times, windows edge (replacement for internet explorer) runs faster than firefox or chrome and with less memory leak issues...
i'm extremely happy with the upgrade and have had basically no issues except having to do a DDU driver wipe for my video card and reinstalling the drviers, other than that everything has worked straight out of the box and better than 7 / 8 / 8.1
I was gonna post to say it would take a major effort by Win 10 current users/testers to convince me to upgrade from Win 7. You did a good job here though.
Still not convinced cause I hated Win 8 altogether.
I have been testing windows 10 Since last year, its still buggy and a mess. Unless you have a PC you dont mind messing up, dont use it yet. Windows 8.1 is still the fastest and most stable OS they have made yet.
no idea what version you're running, but my experience on windows 10 is amazing.. maybe get a newer version or something... stop spreading misinformation

My excitement will start only when I will have confirmation Swtor, Gw2 and Wow does not have any problems with it.

Directx 12 will be windows 10 only. I am assuming 7 and 8 will stay on directx 11. Is that enough of a reason to upgrade? I also hear it's faster than 8 which in turn is faster than 7. But can't confirm this.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Got the free upgrade message, registered and monitoring how it's progressing.
Probably my biggest concern is compatibility, particularly with ant-virus programmes. 10 is still in development so not surprising that it's throwing up compatibility warnings.
No rush to upgrade immediately after official release. I'll give it couple of months to make sure compatibility issues have been sorted, then upgrade.
Honestly, after looking at comparisons between Win 10, 8.1, and 7 (performance in gaming, etc) there isn't really that much difference at all. Your hardware will have a LOT more to do with gaming performance. All 4 of our home computers use Win7.

can confirm WoW, Witcher 3, FFXIV, TERA, SWTOR, ESO, GW2, TSW, Wildstar, Hatred, Rift, Trove and basically every application / drivers that i have run perfectly if not better then in windows 8.1
http://prntscr.com/7clcpd < link of my desktop with games installed... there is more i just dont have them on desktop but i've have 0 compatibility issues with anything that worked under windows 7 / 8 / 8.1

I have it running on 3 systems. My mule PC is so bugged its hard to use and black screens all the time and you need to hard reboot to get it running. My Wifes PC it runs like butter. My Gaming PC is just usable. The OS studders from time to time and once every 3 days it crashes if I dont reboot it often. Huge problem right now is you cant select what windows updates you dont want, so it keeps installing the wrong drivers on 2 of my PCs. The feedback windows for win 10 has a whole wack of bugs being listed and some so bad they have killed the OS and only option was a format reinstall. If you are running smooth and clean, you are the rare customer. Windows 10 is buggy as hell for most users.

i know about a few people
The person that talked me into upgrading and about 4 friends i've talked into upgrading who all also have no issues, but i genuinly mean it when i say this that it sucks that you're experiencing issues. i know 6 people isnt a huge sample size, but on the same note it's pretty good too that being said i had one friend who did experience issues, which could have been resolved if he downloaded his network card drivers (but he's super impatient and like gets overly frustrated and gives up if something doesn't work instantly) and he had no wifi and full blew up and just formatted his PC without even trying to install his wifi drivers.
Other than that, everyone i know has had great experiences... no issues with automatic updates installing wrong drivers, no freezing up randomly, no black screens (Could be driver related, is it those driver not responding issues?), no crashes, or stutters just an enjoyable experience.
Also the reason i'm genuinly sorry it isnt working for you is that this is by far one of my most liked versions of windows, it's fast, games run better for me now then they did by windows 8.1, it's only marginal like maybe 4 or 5% performance increase but it's better than nothing.
I've tried the Edge browser on Windows 10 (we only got access to it really late in the beta, like 2 months ago or something).
It's a decent browser, just too minimalistic for me like chrome.
I want Firefox add-ons like Super Start, NukeAnything, VideoDownloader, Leechblock etc. Edge has none of that, there are rumors Edge will allow add ons, but I haven't seen any evidence of that.
It has a side history and favorite button and Edge had that, so it's at least more functional than Chrome.
There is a long thread with "ADD A HOME BUTTON" on the beta forums, the mere fact people have to ask for that is ridiculous, I don't know why every browser except FireFox has to get rid of every powerful function until you have like 3 buttons left. I like my browser to be powerful.
If you like chrome, you'll like Edge, if you hate chrome, you'll hate Edge.

This will probably be the end of the line for me with respect to pc. These monthly services and ala carte this and that are not something I want wrapped up in. My lifestyle and interest will shift. PC was good and is today, but everyone wants to bill me monthly for something, taxes, phone, Internet, water, electricity .... now the operating system on my pc, where else will this go? I can't believe people care this much about some of these petty things.

There is much more to a PC then just FPS lol
i use it for games, i'm on a gaming website, the only thing that matters here is how well my games perform

Windows 10 is buggy as hell for most users. i know about a few peopleThe person that talked me into upgrading and about 4 friends i've talked into upgrading who all also have no issues, but i genuinly mean it when i say this that it sucks that you're experiencing issues. i know 6 people isnt a huge sample size, but on the same note it's pretty good too that being said i had one friend who did experience issues, which could have been resolved if he downloaded his network card drivers (but he's super impatient and like gets overly frustrated and gives up if something doesn't work instantly) and he had no wifi and full blew up and just formatted his PC without even trying to install his wifi drivers.Other than that, everyone i know has had great experiences... no issues with automatic updates installing wrong drivers, no freezing up randomly, no black screens (Could be driver related, is it those driver not responding issues?), no crashes, or stutters just an enjoyable experience. Also the reason i'm genuinly sorry it isnt working for you is that this is by far one of my most liked versions of windows, it's fast, games run better for me now then they did by windows 8.1, it's only marginal like maybe 4 or 5% performance increase but it's better than nothing. So you ran a benchmark program running Windows 8.1 and then installed Windows 10 and got 5% higher benchmark? Because on all my systems they were down not up. Even on the PC that is running it like butter. why do i need a benchmark when i have real fps readouts from actual games?
Because its hard to get metrics on how much the new windows kernel effects performance when there are many other factors to consider like the state of 3rd party video drivers for said kernel.

I've been using Windows 10 for the better part of 3 - 4 weeks now with the latest insider preview edition and had 0 issuesgames running better / full compatibility with all my old stuff, faster loading times, windows edge (replacement for internet explorer) runs faster than firefox or chrome and with less memory leak issues...i'm extremely happy with the upgrade and have had basically no issues except having to do a DDU driver wipe for my video card and reinstalling the drviers, other than that everything has worked straight out of the box and better than 7 / 8 / 8.1

I have been testing windows 10 Since last year, its still buggy and a mess. Unless you have a PC you dont mind messing up, dont use it yet. Windows 8.1 is still the fastest and most stable OS they have made yet.

I have it running on 3 systems. My mule PC is so bugged its hard to use and black screens all the time and you need to hard reboot to get it running. My Wifes PC it runs like butter. again... a benchmark is not going to tell me anything that playing a game isnt with video card drivers...
i'm using latest beta AMD drivers (which do not even have windows 10 support, there is released WHQL versions of nvidia drivers with windows 10 support), with a 2 x Radeon R9 290's and my games are performing 5%ish higher framerates then they were in windows 8.1 with unsupported drivers.

Well they don't install all that bloat ware like they do in Win8 Win8.1 so that could cause a 5% up tick. Of course they may expect you to download a bunch of stuff once it is live wither it is free or not from, their store.
Just upgraded, and no real issues. Had to fiddle with a few settings, and it corrupted Bitdefender. Took less than 20 minutes to iron things out. About the same for my other OS upgrades.

I won't install if cloud it forced upon me firefox dont work properly and not local account?
Don't want do much with MS if needed if all those new things needed other wise most don't work i won't use windows 10.

I'll give it couple of months to make sure compatibility issues have been sorted, then upgrade.
can confirm
WoW, Witcher 3, FFXIV, TERA, SWTOR, ESO, GW2, TSW, Wildstar, Hatred, Rift, Trove and basically every application / drivers that i have run perfectly if not better then in windows 8.1
http://prntscr.com/7clcpd < link of my desktop with games installed... there is more i just dont have them on desktop but i've have 0 compatibility issues with anything that worked under windows 7 / 8 / 8.1

i know about a few people
The person that talked me into upgrading and about 4 friends i've talked into upgrading who all also have no issues, but i genuinly mean it when i say this that it sucks that you're experiencing issues. i know 6 people isnt a huge sample size, but on the same note it's pretty good too that being said i had one friend who did experience issues, which could have been resolved if he downloaded his network card drivers (but he's super impatient and like gets overly frustrated and gives up if something doesn't work instantly) and he had no wifi and full blew up and just formatted his PC without even trying to install his wifi drivers.
So you ran a benchmark program running Windows 8.1 and then installed Windows 10 and got 5% higher benchmark? Because on all my systems they were down not up. Even on the PC that is running it like butter.
why do i need a benchmark when i have real fps readouts from actual games?
There is much more to a PC then just FPS lol
i use it for games, i'm on a gaming website, the only thing that matters here is how well my games perform
I've been using Windows 10 for the better part of 3 - 4 weeks now with the latest insider preview edition and had 0 issues games running better / full compatibility with all my old stuff, faster loading times, windows edge (replacement for internet explorer) runs faster than firefox or chrome and with less memory leak issues... i'm extremely happy with the upgrade and have had basically no issues except having to do a DDU driver wipe for my video card and reinstalling the drviers, other than that everything has worked straight out of the box and better than 7 / 8 / 8.1
