Would you play an mmorpg in the Witcher world ?

PsYcHoGBRPsYcHoGBR Member UncommonPosts: 482

I have just finished Witcher 3 and loved every minute of it. I have done all the secondary quests and most of the contracts. It is by far the best game I have played in quite a while and feel a bit lost now as what to play. This game set the bar so high i'm struggling to find anything to play.

I would love to see an mmorpg set in the Witcher world or even a multiplayer world with small groups. Reality is to create an mmo would probably mean downgrading quite alot of the single player experience as mmo's are very complexed. I'm interested to see what others think if this was ever possible or maybe it should stay as a single player game ?

No, not really personally. I appreciate it and all but i dont really care for the style just feels cheesy to me. Maybe in an mmorpg world this could be lessened becuase i won't have to play Geralt with the weirdest voice ever.

how many hours did you clock, im 55 hours in and still in novograd :)

But then saying that i do explore every blade of grass :)

But would it work as an MMO, I dont think it would, i like the style, and would like to see how the combat would transfer to MMO, that would be intersting.

Think you could work with that, i like the way the potions work etc in this game.

But if i was to think about it, i would consider maybe having 2 sort of classes, the existing one that Gerailt is so a mage cross sword weilder, then the other would be mage cross healer

I did wonder in my early hours how a lobby styled Auction house would work in this game, just having ability to list your wares and other players from their game to buy them, this woudl be particularly suited for things like mats, but as i got further in saw that the mats are not  reeally needed given you really just need Ale :)

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

This is one of my main issues with the Witcher Series. I cannot connect with such a mary-sue main character at all, and the voice is needlessly gravelly and off-putting.

That being said, I think the world could yield interesting results as an MMO, just being a random not-so-chosen-one in the world able to follow any path you like, joining up with various different armies, or being a bard, or a merchant.

The questing and sidequest system could work well for an MMO as well IMO.

They'd of course need more gear and combat variety in there, but overall I think it could work.

And they'd need a much much larger world.

I must be real slow lol I'm at 41 hours and haven't even reached Novigrad yet.

As to the topic at hand:

The Witcher World would make a great setting for an MMO. people seem to forget that there is mages etc. in the world, so you could have make a good variety of classes. The lore is quite rich.

The only thing that would be cheesy is if everyone and there dog is a Witcher. Would be kinda like everyone being a Jeti in a Star Wars mmo.

I would prefer a nice big ope world not tied to any IP where I could develop my character how I like and not be stuck with premade classes as a template. Some nice care bear safe zones for me to hide in if I don't want to venture out into the the PvP zones. No levels, no end game gear grind just charactet progression.

Being a witcher wouldn't be quite as cool if there were thousands of them walking around.

I would like to play more of the darker characters. When SWTOR came out there where more empire players than republic. I do think there would be alot of people at first playing a witcher but this game has so many other characters/classes to get stuck into.

I was thinking of  playing again on harder mode and make different choices but I think I will wait until I have all the DLC's and patch 1.05
