Tera had plenty of hype when it was coming out.  People tried it and a lot didn't like it.  I have tried to get into it a number of times but can never last long.  Just don't like then look or feel.

The problem Tera has is that the developers who made it don't seem to be there anymore, the core game is amazing but it never really grew much from there.

It's the best looking mmo on on the market if you like the art style, it also has arguable the best combat but it gets boring because it offers no casual content at all.   Tera along with Blade and Soul offers the least content variety in any mmorpg, it's sad really because it has so much potential.

Also the gear grinding for PVP is pretty dumb, the PVE grinding is acceptable but not for PVP.  Mainly because grinding for PVE is optional, I had beaten all the hardest PVE content in lower tier gear pretty easily but you have to get the best stuff for pvp or you get steamrolled.  Also the +15 gear was a huge mistake.

Just look at how awesome the pvp is ,

freakin breathtaking zones and dungeons ,

    Amazing graphics ,

    Good crafting system ,

Free to play game thats pretty much not a pay to win

and alot more seriously also shouldnt eu server be more crowded its not like gameforge is that bad >.>

you can like the game but , crafting is garbage more useless then aion crafting, free to play means a lot like p2w, games when new have less pay to win features and teh older it gets less likely to keep that way, graphics was always meh at the better days, again compared to aion, aion wins on that question(about me using aion, tera and aion was close to each other only tera was launched btw 6months -1 year after aion, and since aion took 2 years to become free to play here I gave tera a year before that happen, and it did...)

you also have to deal with the the game is old, pvp is crap, the BAMs, who was the main selling point used is too easy and now you ahve blade and soul who works like tera, but its faster, less annoying and the fashion is not linked to the gear you use.

I still come back to aion for a time after years because I ahd nothing new to play, tera I just can't stomach to play again

so no, i'm more surprised this game is still around, plus hyped games are always garbage
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

Me too, gotta love them females characters in Tera.

    Castanics are pretty hawt too.

Although I find gender/race locking a pretty cheap practice, gunner and brawler are actually pretty freaking fun to play lol. Plus I missed taking down BAMs, even though they made most of them pretty easy now.

Tera was a bad attempt at a good idea.
    So much this.

Early on the game showed a lot of promise. The gameplay really had no competition except in Vindictus, which was an extremely Nexonized P2W lobby grinder and nothing more. The art style, while controversial, was technically competent and coherently pretty. The basics were there.

Then it started going wrong by constantly nerfing BAM's, introducing overpowered levelling weapons, removing the only dungeons which were actually interesting to play and replacing them with the same circular/square room connected by the same corridor EVERYWHERE, introduced huge, huge grinds and labelled them 'content', made huge flying castles everywhere with billboards, focused on Elin and female character classes exclusively with 99% of their paid content and new class content and..... *shudder* introduced maid ouffits, police outfits, racy halloween outfits, schoolgirl outfits.... Aaaaaand the game's dead. To me. It really, truly died for me when i saw they added some stupid minicar mounts, complete with "cute and silly" sounds and movements.

Way to ruin the game there, Blue Hole.

En Masse also got worse over time. Around release they were truly awesome in almost every way. Good support, good communication, good involvement, but seemingly this has completely died off in the shuffle for MORE LOLI CONTENT LOLLLLL and stuff like that.

It's like seeing your kid play with lego technic the first time. He builds an actual, working framework for a car with mechanical steering and everything. You're about to pat him on the back and be a proud parent, right up until the moment he starts smashing the build up by replacing the wheels with Duplo blocks and building a tower on top of it with the color coordination of a blind parrot. With Duplo blocks.

It's dishearteningly sad to see how the game has devolved. Underneath you can still see flashes of brilliance - The gunner class was amazing fun to play, but then you realize what you have to play through and start to just cry. No evolution of the game itself. Basic, boring, geometric, flat and utterly uninteresting Korean level design for new areas and dungeons. Leaning on 'combat is fun' so much that they forgot to make content where the combat can actually be used in. The insane focus on making it a softcore porn aesthetic with all the ridiculous cash shop bull****.

I tried coming back twice, i quit again within 2 days. Unless they make a version of the game where all the meta-crap has been removed, and they hired some actual competent level designers, i won't be coming back again.

I've never understood this undying fascination that some have with "endgame."  It's like the rest of the game is irrelevant and all they want to do is rush to endgame as quickly as possible before they can finally begin enjoying the game.
The issue is that there are two types of players (well more than that but in this case "two").

Those who enjoy the process of creating a character and those who don't want to create a character but want to "jump in" and do the activities.

It's sort of like early fps games vs early role playing games. In a role playing game you make the character and eventually you have "sculpted" a character that should be able to defeat the last encounters.

In early fps games you log in and start fighting right away. There is no sculpting.

It's also why you have a division between players who want more "personal skill" over "character skill".

Some players want to be able to have their own abilities determine the outcome and some are interested in the character.

If there is one thing i learned from BDO, its that if you speak English as your first language, then the NA servers are a better option than playing on the EU ones. With TERA, there is also the added incentive to do so because of publishers as Gameforge really is a disincentive to use the EU servers, and if there is one thing i have noticed about playing BDO on the NA servers, its that latency is not an issue ;)

The point i found was that the social experience is better on the NA servers than it is on the EU ones, not that there were more players, just that the ones there commonly spoke english, which is not the case with EU servers generally, its why as someone who speaks only English, the NA servers are a better option than the EU ones, though admittedly Gameforge would also be an incentive not to use the EU servers. BDO is a game that is very heavy on 'action based combat' but despite this i have not had any problems on the NA servers due to increased latency, indeed, unless your latency exceeds 200 ms then there shouldn't be any problems, particularly not for a game such as TERA, it is not a game like CS:GO after all, and in terms of combat BDO is probably far more demanding than TERA when it comes to 'timely reactions'. There are probably valid reasons to use the EU server, particularly if English is not a language you are particularly competent in, but if its your main or only language, then the NA choice of servers has in my experience provided a much better overall experience. :)

Holy resurrected thread once a year! I really want to play Tera again unfortunately I have to wait until the console release. People in Tera tend to just hang out and talk and that's something I really liked about it. I joined a guild and instantly they told me to come to some town, and every day they just hung out there and talked while occasionally doing things. It was extremely social in most guilds I joined. Also the game itself was really fun. I really miss playing it

I was a founder way back prior to launch, played Tera on and off for a while but wound up stopping a couple of years ago.  I met some pretty nice people too, although the social aspect of it wasn't the draw for me; I loved the combat and art style, and admittedly the Elin also, lol.

It's a fun game and IMHO is still one of the most beautiful MMOs out there.  For me, the trouble is that the end-game revolved around RNG enchanting and eventually drove me away.  Too much 'grind-waste resources-grind more' for my blood.

It's still pretty heavily played though, so I would imagine the console release will be at least decently populated.  Did it deserve more hype?  Maybe, but even had it gotten that hype, I'm not sure it would have remained a sub game or had a larger player base, and so forth.  It's got some years on it now, fortunately its F2P model is one that makes it accessible.

What you say I notice in BDO but with fr/de/int server in Tera I didnt notice it.

I even found a dancing Elin group!

TERA by itself is actually fun. They just need to speed up leveling. It serves next to no purpose and is kinda boring too. If they made you do only area quest lines, it'd be perfect.

Then people would be aware that TERA's not only fun, but that it actually has quite charming story. Rather typical though.

Maybe utilize AION's Fast Track servers? /shrug
Even faster? Imo its one of the fastest lvling games. Im a slow lvler and got 2 65 in 1 week.

personally i think Tera is a game that COULD have been great.

i ended up disliking the "rooted" feeling that animations give in this game, more than any other game i've ever played. you can't even cancel the skill or animation, you have to wait for it to finish. the "use skill/move/use skill/move/use skill" action is very different from most other NA made games, which let you move as you do most attacks, and only require you to stand in place when casting. its a very restrictive feeling that i never got use to it. i always felt artificially rooted.

the other major point is the Elin race...... sorry but just waaayyyy too pedo. they should have deleted that race from the game when they ported it to NA. i just couldn't stand walking around with so many damn tiny cartoon girls in short skirts. i'm sorry, it just totally killed my vibe.

On top of that, it felt grindy, grindy and linear with most zones going in pathways instead of free roam.

I've found myself diving back and forth into TERA since it's release. It's interesting to see they've consistently changed over the years. As an action fan I love the combat. But that's about it, the difficulty has some good moments for all classes and too easy moments for other. I'll play through in a month or so, and find something else to play. While it doesn't lack, a good team can blow through too quickly.
