Hahaha! I like it. I was thinking about a "Lady of the Lake" server, but I could go for one named Tim.
BTW, n2sooners, I can see where your coming from. Making two new servers with "Alternate Rules" is kind of like saying "hey, we messed up, but we are too set in our ways for the moment, lets make some new servers instead of fixing the old ones". While I think the new servers are going to be very important to DAoC soon, I still think the older servers should be their top priority.
The only way I can think of them getting rid of the ToA blight on the game is to slowly phase ToA out. Slowly introduce more..., dare I say, "powerful" items and abilities, but do it in a way thats not over complecaited or time consuming.
I don't know how a developer would go about doing something like that, but I do think after these servers show success they'll probably get pressure to revise the old ones as well.

How do you fix time sink in TOA? Make it easier to acquire master level skills and artifacts? and start hearing about all the whines from those who already spent months to get theirs? And the problems with TOA was not only about the time sink. It introduced many powerful skills in RVR, and thus made the RVR less enjoyable compare to the old days; too many skills to worry about and less time to feel like you actually did something in the fight because you can either kill or die so fast now in a fight. After TOA, Daoc was virtually impossible for new players to join and be competitive!
Mythic is doing a test on the gaming community with the new servers. It would be hard to predict what the reaction will be. But I believe this is a smart desicion. We may see more alternative rules servers in the future and less TOA servers. Who cares! the total community population will probably be a lot more than the 15000 prime time pop it currently has.
We quit the game when TOA was released not because we weren't loyal to our favorite game. Mythic is like my favorite kid, and I punish and reward my kid accordingly. Too bad, you could have done the same like many of us did, realizing that TOA was not worth your time and quit Daoc so Mythic could come up with this idea sooner.
