most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It looks like they are following the Everquest model - basically when you buy the newest expansion you get everything before it vs you buy the original game + each expansion model so many other online games have. In this way a person can start late without having to buy each prior expansion plus the base game.
Essentially it gives everyone a choice of either saving money and waiting x years to buy all of the expansions at once for a cheap price or pay for each one and play as soon as they are released. It makes sense as it removes a barrier to entry that so many other online games have - even the situation with WoW where you wait and buy a battlechest version + current expansion.
The benefit of being an early adopter (not waiting till they are all bundled together several expansions down the road) is that you get to play it now (and for all the time in between).

probably best if you don't take part then. Nothing like being smart with your money. I hear they got some great deals on at Steam right now. Take care!

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Well, it's a great deal for new players, but very bad for veterans. It'll be interesting to see if 3 of my friends will buy it or not.
well I will be enjoying the lack of certain "elements" distressing my new expansion playthrough.

LOL!
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Exquiz me,but HoT does not contain enough content to be priced so high.
it's not even close.
I did(n't) expect this from Anet.
This is a cash grab,with double S and no C and H.
I guess if you are hyped you will pay the price,if you still got a brain and
some dignity you will pass.
Vote with your wallet so that devs don't make you s@ck @ss like that in the future.
This is confusing.
The link to the website didn't work correctly, so I manually went over to the GW2 website. There I saw a promo video of the different versions of the expansion and whatnot, but the video said nothing whatsoever about the actual content of the expansion, except for the guy sometimes muttering something about a jungle.
So I checked the website out further and found there another video with new stuff that comes with the expansion, but there I don't know which of the stuff is available to everyone and which you only have access to if you buy the expansion.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I'll try to enlighten you with my infinite wisdom.
You get.
-A new class, the Revenant. Available only to HoT players.
-1 new weapon and 3 new utilities per existing class.Available only to HoT players.
-3 new PvE maps. These are said to be smaller than the core game maps, but Anet has added "verticality" as they say,so the actual playable area will be more than what the land mass suggests.
-Guild Halls. This is like housing for gulds.Available only to HoT players
-A remake of the skils/traits.Available to all GW2 players.
-PvE masteries. These are tied to the new zones.Available only to HoT players.
-New Legendary weapon skins. My guess is you'll have to gring for them in the new zones so.available only to HoT players.
-A new WvW map.Available to all GW2 players.
-A new PvP map/mode.Available to all GW2 players.
So for people who already have GW2, that is what is available with the expansion... Jeeze, that is a small expansion... Not even a new race either. ArenaNet is really being cheap it seems. There expansion price sure isn't cheap though. Hell will freeze over before I pay that price.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
GW1 was also created originally by about a dozen people when there were far less complex systems involed and FAAAAAAAAAAR less detailed maps (most gw1 maps were alot of copy / pasting)
The point here is.Is Anet charging customers retroactively for the past 3 years or are
they charging just for the expansion?
This is by far the flimsiest MMO expansion I'm aware of,and it is priced like a proper
WoW one.Other games give more in their free expansions.
If you take in account that they haven't added any content in the game for months it is even worse.
Also, everyone should go Steam.Check out those deals guys.
There's a lot of copy pasting in GW2 too although it is more elaborate.
The latest zone added to the game has audio taken(or tooken depending on who you ask)
straight from the Shiverpeaks, howling wolves included.
And you know how many wolves there are in Silverwastes...like...none.
Lazy devs are lazy.
No need to be defensive. Do you even know what you're getting for $60? Anet hasn't even revealed everything for HoT and they already set a price expecting people like you to just give them money. I have no problem paying $50. I buy collector's editions all the time for MMOs, so money isn't an issue. I just don't feel like this expansion is worth $50, when all we're getting is a new class, a new wvw & pvp map, and a small zone with 3 layers. This is just another living story season, without any new dungeons or actual pve content that aren't just about events.
Relax. Not everyone is going to like GW2 or it's expansion. You don't have to defend the game in every post. lol.
