Your dream version Comic Hero vs Villian MMORPG?

SirCedricSirCedric Member CommonPosts: 46

Hi everyone, This is my 1st post on these boards, I moved on from the STO boards. Long story.............

Anyway, I love a good comic hero, and with all the MCU movies out now a days, I would love to find a great MMO version to match. True there is Marvel Heroes, but really It lacks something for my taste.

So what would I like to see in a Comic Hero/ villain MMO?

The following:

1. The look has to be comic, like what you see in Boarder lands is a good start.

2. have a great story line for each class you can play, SWToR does a great good with this.

3. Full Custom avatars from the hair on your head to toe, Make your guy how you want it to loo, even with options to port your face on the avatar.

4. PvP with meaning, not just mindless fighting.

5. PvE that lets you save the day or rain down mayhem of the population. City of Heroes had a nice system, but it could have gone more.

6. Tons of power set to pick from.

7. Origin stories to get you started.

I could go on and on, but I would like hear other peoples views on this.

As it stands right now, there are about 3 Comic hero MMOs out there, I could be wrong but these are the ones I have seen.

Champions Online, DC universe Online and Marvel heroes. Each has it's own pros and cons, but they all lack something to me.

So lets hear your idea?

well, you (mainly) described city of heroes / villains there :)

unfortunately NCSOFT shut it down ages ago, no one knows why.

Unofficially, its because it wasn't making enough money, but yeah, City of Heroes/Villains is pretty much the pinnacle of Superhero MMO's, the graphics probably would be a little bit dated now, but if they re-released it with slightly updated graphics, then i would play it, imo, it is without question, the best Superhero MMO created so far. image

Yep, that's City of Heroes alright.

And the original reason they gave for shutting it down was "a realignment of company focus". The biggest BS I've seen as far as MMO shutdowns go.

I agree guys, City of Heroes was the best when it was out, but give it the Boarderlands look in graphics, and add the Story telling like what you see with SWToR, and a few other changes. maybe add the Marvel or DCU license agreement and it's win / win on many levels.

The PvE MUST be great fun in any Heroes game. Plus the end game content has to be epic to keep it fun too.

That'd be like combining my two favorite MMOs of all times into one. I'd be sold instantly. image

I don't think i could conceive of a worse idea, one of the reasons why City of Heroes was so good, was because you created the Hero you wanted, from the look to the power combinations, if you tried to tie in Marvel or DC comics, then you would be introducing so many creative limitations that it would be a joke.

City of Heroes would still be running today, and profitably, if NCSoft hadn't pulled the plug on it, while cell shading might work for some games, but, for City of Heroes, it would have been a mistake, the aesthetic they used was ideal for that type of game, arguably, cell shading would probably have put too many limits on the flexibility of the character creation options, and to me, cell shading tends to look a bit too cheap and nasty.image

The whole license agreement whole only be to add the named Heroes/ Villains to the game, it' would limit what you can do with whatever your trying to do.

As far as the shaping goes, I just think it would give the game a more comic feel and look to it. Like make it a living comic that you can play. Still looks cool to me.
