I saw this on kotaku today apparently there is a rumor that the matrix online was purchased by Sony

Can someone please make me a sig. I would like it to have something to do with an eagle(the bird) Somewhere near the eagle can you put the words "Global Defense Initiative". Could you also have the line "If you can't buff up, don't step up!". Thanks!

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
lol kinda funny that WB bails out on a sinking ship so soon (not meant as a flame but on a business standpoint) remind me to not even bother with WBs next game
Lies?

Not lies!!! This isn't a bad thing really, SOE might suck at developping a MMORPG at the beginning, but if you look at SWG, it went from an unbalanced and buggy game, to a balanced and totally new MMORPG experience which isn't all that bad.
For SOE to take over MXO (Which I never played, but I came here to see if anyone was talking about), then it could actually help! I mean, SOE will always add more content for the game, when there's a tiny small bug in the game, they will fix it... only problem is their CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
Oh god, how I HATE their customer service! So if you need help, forget it... you won't GET ANY! But hey, as long as the game runs, who needs Customer service, eh?

YEA!!!! Sony owns at MMORPG's. I will be getting this game because of this, this game will turn amazing in the next few months, mark my words
I was always able to fly like Neo because of the bugs, however I could really go for a lightsaber. Official press release from SOE has been released as well as the transition FAQ from the community team.

LOL
I can't believe anyone is still playing MxO to even care who owns it. How many missions in building apartments can you do and still think its fun. ???
boggles the mind it does....hmmmm
Playing Fallen Earth.
Nope. You still must call, at least for now. I just called and cancelled my account. The woman on the phone denied the "rumor" of being bought by SOE. It didn't take long for the SOE philosophy of customer relations to take hold.
To put it lightly, im GLAD SOE Bought MxO...
Sure SOE isnt the best developer of online games, but its not like the game could get any worse. It was already on the "Worst MMORPG Ever Released List"... not at the top, but still on there.
I think that if SOE has a vision for it, they might be able to take this game and actually make into something worth playing. Good play Sony
I think the Sony partnership is a necessary evil. I played MxO and was dissapointed, along with many others that took this game much more seriously than I did. The game sold only 40,000 copies or so since release. Not good.
I give Monolith it's props for trying. God knows what a huge project an MMORPG is. Whos knows, in the end SOE may give this game the shot in the arm it needs.
Edited to add source.

Guild Wars is still an MMO.
SOE is mediocre when it comes to mmorpg games I think. Ive only played everything there is since EQ1 and UO1. Planetside was a disapointment but ethen again I was expecting a fps experience where guns of the future actually shot straight and did damage. SWG I played a while and it got boring. I like jump to lightspeed cause the fps view. I havnt played since and noticed a comment on how good it is now. I hope so and maybe ill try it again. EQ 1 or 2 just didnt have the polish of others. I am afraid they will clean it up dust it off and sell it on its matrix name only and nothing other than another SOE game. I did Matrix online for a few months and I didnt find it special at all. They all seem to be the same. The mmorpg world needs a good solid large world map with the playability of Swat or Rainbow 6 and the maps being modern cities for a change. Replicate Los Angeles or New York, Chicago, any big City and put the players in a movie situation similar to what ya get watching CSI, or some shows with plots that are discovered having to get thru bad situations. Take a good FPS game like Dues Ex or whatever its called and make it mmorpg.

Simply, this is the best thing that could possibly happen to MxO for many reasons.
1. If you read the FAQ at the MXO site, you can see that MXO will be part of the Station Access subscription. Which means that for $21.99 a month, if you own the software you can play EQ, EQII, MXO, SWG, Planetside and several other games for that one price. That means that more people will play MxO off and on because it's part of their Station Access sub.
2. Since they just recently reduced the retail price for MXO, I'll be buying it simply to add it to my Station Access sub.
3. From the FAQ, the original team will remain, as they choose. So if you like what they've done, they're going to still be there.
So, overall more people will have access and be able to play... which they will, because you can only get so much of EQ or Planetside, etc., before you need a break for something new. I know I will.
I think this is great, for me and for MXO. Without this acquisition, I would have never purchased the game.

I say they are just next on the chopping block.
I didn't know Sony bought Earth and Beyond.
Is this true?
And SOE would pay the chunk of cash they dished out for MxO just to shut it down?
Actually large companys do that to there compitition. It gets rid of them in a very clean way. I have witnessed that tactic used in non gaming industry. I think they will try and make it work first. Matrix has market potential cause of its name. Well so does Star Wars. Just imagine the Market share Star wars galaxies would have if it played as well as the top rated games out there today.

Ummm, no, Electronics Arts shut down Earth and Beyond.
