Wow, i was so not expecting to get bored of skyforge in just 5 hours of gameplay.
What a freaking shame i was expecting a good game, but what i saw from open beta was an action combat that for the first hour was entertaining but after that i just became incredibly dull, i did try other classes but they all have the same feel and get boring very fast.
Not to speak about the huuuuge grinder this game is.
Anyone feels like this after playing the game?

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
It tries to be both
Some mmo aspects are there - grouping, ignoring other players as you kill mobs they are also killing, sometimes joining in with other players as you kill mobs....
But the game is lobby based, think of Vindictus with a few bells and whistles and you're about there.
Oh, and the control set up for pc is awkward - cannot keybind to middle mouse button as yet. Other more advanced keybinding options - no idea when/if they'll ever appear.
Now see you lasted more than an hour because you tried other classes,i was so bored i couldn't take anymore and quit after the hour.
This game offers nothing unique and what it does offer is bad, just reminds me of the shallow game design of Moba's and Diablo's and POE's.
I have seen some really cheap games over time, obviously with the way the market is flooded. However MANY of them have at least offered me some fun and kept my attention for a few days maybe a week or two.I struggled badly to get one hour in and to add punishment to my soul,i tried again the second day only to realize the game needs to be uninstalled.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I'm kinda feeling the same too, i dunno if it's the fact that i'm kind of tired today so my patience isnt really holding...
but i'm just not really enjoying it, being so limited on what i can or cant do is really immersion breaking for me also, it's not a deal breaker, i dont mind having to work towards classes, but closing basically every class of for so long into the game is just draining...
by no means am i giving up, i'll give it more time and see how i go, but at this point in time, i'm really just not feeling it.
I lasted approx 12 hours, after that I'm sure I've seen what the majority of the game will be and what will come, not my type of game I do it admit it's a great looking game the core concepts on the otherhand...

Actually it is kind of a mix as you can just face w/e you want to attack using the crosshairs or hit tab and scroll through the different critters you can even lock on one particular critter aswell with f I think it was.
The game is fun if you want something vindictus like that you can just pop on for 20mins or so for some quick fun.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
I've had games where I was bored after 1 hour. So when I get hooked for a few hours it's usually a good sign.
I actually enjoyed it a lot until I realized the lack of open world feeling. You basically jump from one instance to another.
Not saying it's a bad game, it is what it is, I just don't like what it is.
There comes a time where you no longer even have to try a game to know if you will like it. I can generally watch a video on game play and know within a minute or two whether I'm going to like it.
character movement
combat sounds
visual effects
The UI
A quick read of the game facts on the developers website usually confirms what I believe to be true.
I've been having fun. Playing with others makes any game better, of course.
But once I hit around 3500 prestige, the stuff actually required some thought. The first 3000 prestige, you didnt have to dodge much or really pay attention and combat was getting pretty slow.
There was a huge bump in difficulty factor.
It's unusual to see a thread like this not brimming with large doses of hyperbole.
Quite refreshing, really.
From what I saw and read before beta, I didn't think I'd enjoy this game. Beta resoundingly confirmed that prediction.
I'm more of a virtual-world fan, and this game is definitely at the other end of the spectrum.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
Well.
The game doesn't really begin until you have about 2000 prestige. Anything less than that and your still in the training wheels stage. Hell, PvP doesn't even get good until then. You don't have enough attacks to chain to make it any fun.
Probably a good thing you guys quit while you did..XD
I love the 'If it didn't take so long to get new classes.' comment. It takes about two weeks of casual grinding as a FTP. Premiums in about half that time. Sorry its not instantaneous enough for you.
You should probably go grind your other MMO now...
Complaining about grind in an MMORPG is like complaining about dancing in a rhythm based game like DDR. It just isn't a very relevant or valid argument imho.
So far i'm liking Skyforge quite alot and enjoy the pace of combat and have had some very nice, friendly and enjoyable interactions with people in the game. I like how the open areas encourage helping each other and lend themselves to some nice encounters without the stress of needing to form parties and such, one of my favorite things about the game. I like the skill tree aka, ascension atlas alot and find it to be a nice level progression for unlocking new classes and gives me a reason to log in and feels worth it since you are unlocking new classes.
I also like that all characters share skills, so no need for alts and no need to worry about all that non-sense, seriously alts need to be a thing of the past in MMORPG's as they do nothing but encourage unnecessary micro management, it's nice to have all the classes in one, less to manage.
I'm honestly not sure you are giving Skyforge a fair shake, sure maybe you don't like it, sure it may not be everything that is being sought after in the genre, but it has some good ideas, is quite polished. Is it the next Everquest or Ultima....of course not, but it's good for what it is imo and i'm having a good bit of fun and i'm actually logging in, which for me says alot these days.
Glad im not the only one who thinks this game is dull, cant comment on "the grind" as I never got that far into it to experience what may lay ahead.
The first area & lackluster combat was enough to put me to sleep, there is nothing new or exciting to see in Skyforge, just another flat mmo to add to the heap that were now saturated with.
Its great game but its to easy at the beginning, giving people a lot of misconception about it, and later on dropping hammer making it ultra hard :P
Other thing is you cant even see 90% of the game features before prestige 3000, creating illusion that the game is shallow.
I recommend giving it some time and trying it for real. Its not game for everyone but its a solid game.

It is a new game. People will leave after they have their fill, some sooner others later..The game is generic it does not draw me in.Just add it to the 1000's of games that is on the mmorpg list..
I retired retroactively..Haha
Apology not accepted.

Premium still has the same cap, and if you plan your route properly you can hit a new class within the first week cap, and another class in the second week cap, etc... And the cap is not hard to get even for a casual...
So for people saying it takes too long to unlock classes, you get to unlock about 1 per week. If you don't spend your points optimally, it will take you anywhere up to 2 weeks to unlock your first class.
Regarding the gameplay, you are pretty much playing the tutorial till about 2300 prestige(still some tutorial stuff after as you unlock new systems, but you have most of the core unlocked at that point). I sincerely doubt you were near that after 5 hours. I agree that the tutorial time is too long and they should compact it... On the other hand there is something to be said for spreading it out and giving people time to process it.
My wife and I are still playing and still not bored.
Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
I just think that it is a terrible tactic for attracting new players. I don't want to play essentially the same class as everyone else or the class that I don't want to end up being forever. It's not conducive to the experience I want. Maybe some people like working to get a class, idk, I personally do not.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
The classes start to get fun when you get new talents and skills, round 5-600 Prestige.
That's about 3-4 hours of playing.
It also helps if you use the combos correctly instead of mashing the buttons on your mouse. You know, like the pallies that had alread died 3-4 times before prestige 500.....
