Ahh, Vonatar, were you Vashna in game today? I think so, these words in your post here are the ones you used in game.
If so, you do a great injustice to the Project:Gorgon community! If not, disregard what I say here.
I was online while you were on today, you probably remember me. I remember you asking atleast 10 questions, all of which were answered quite nicely by several different people in the community. I myself remember trying to help you in particular to find NPCs and such. ONE guy in the whole community made a comment similar to this in response to you wishing for a bit more guidance: "I have been here only a couple days myself and that is what i like about this game. People who are used to WoW, and mainstream games have forgotten what it's like to adventure." And I defended you! And yet you accuse the community of being "full of elitists" and "unhelpful people" Extremely unfair, and quite plainly false.
I have been testing Project:Gorgon since September 2013, and while every game gets an elitist or two here and there, on the whole the community is helpful and close. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the community is quite small. With a sudden influx in players, the questions go by in chat very fast. It's possible for questions to be missed, but not because they are deemed unworthy to be answered.
The game certainly gives me DAoC flashbacks. I hope these guys can make it work. I am impressed that they are letting people play for free before deciding to donate.
There are pvp arena areas, and I heard tell there is a potion you can take that basicly flags you for open pvp for 5mins or something, I'm not sure exactly.

Lyramis, you were indeed helpful and friendly and an obvious pillar of the community (and Amanda also). You also accepted my comments that the newbie experience could do with some greater depth, at least to orient people as to the game's basic workings. Yes, some people answered questions, but others were far more abrasive and dismissive than you say above. Perhaps you missed the comments directed to my questions that were of the nature of me wanting a WoW-like experience of being led by the nose and wanting "instant gratification" and quest markers. These are elitist and unwelcoming. I can name the player who said them if you believe this to be false.
The game is not intuitive, and this isn't a criticism, but it isn't a feature either. You want to attract people and get them having fun as quickly as possible. People like me are older gamers and don't have lots of time, but I am prepared to put in the time I have when something appears worthwhile. PG appears worthwhile, but not being able to figure out very basic things is frustrating and not fun, and getting stereotyped as a "WoW kid" when all I wanted was some initial orientation is just unfriendly. The game is a pre-alpha at the moment and new players need a positive experience when basic tutorials are lacking. We are not all so hardcore as to enjoy banging our heads against the wall repeatedly.
Let's take learning magic as an example. What does the tutorial show you about learning swordfighting? You find a sword and start hitting things. So without any guidance, what should a new player figure out about learning magic? Is he supposed to find a staff somewhere? Or a spellbook? Actually no, he talks to an npc to learn the skill. This is something you would find out on your own by just bumping into the correct npc, but equally you could go off on a wild goose chase. For some people maybe this is part of the fun. I find this a little frustrating.
One thing I like about Project Gorgon is how clean the coding is. Everything works like a well oiled machine. I've been playing Gorgon for a bit longer than a year now and have only crashed once. There have been server issues, but the game is well optimized and the issues are usually related to ISP problems and too many mobs moving at once.
PvP is not a priority in development at the moment. I'd enjoy PvP, but the game isn't balanced with PvP in mind. There is an item called Spooky Punch that you can drop on the ground that gives a 5 min pvp buff, that balances things by reducing the damage you deal by half, as well as 5 min and 60 minute pvp potions. The Spooky Punch can be quite fun, so you may wish to solicit me (Veryn) when I'm on!
I spent about 2 hours tonight helping out newbies in the tutorial cave and answering questions. I wish we had a community manager in the game like we used to.

I personally don't like it when people beat around the bush when I ask for the location of content. I'm always going to tell you exactly where to get something. If someone's not being nice to you, that's one person. Just ignore them, and listen to the people who say what you want to hear. If you want your hand held as they call it, send me a message (Veryn) and if I'm online I'll come help you out.
Whatever you need, be it:
Fire Magic
Ice Magic
Mentalism
Druid
Psychology
Necromancer
Cow
Or an obscure skill like Corpse Talking or Phrenology, I'll help you out and answer your questions. I know just about everything about the game, and I want the players around me to prosper more than any other else. To the point where I felt overbearing because I was following around a new player buffing him for an hour straight so he could kill mobs.

I find the comments regarding the community really odd. On my personal account (aka - on a character not named TheHiveLeader), the community has been nothing but extremely helpful to me. Simply put, it is full of the nicest people I've ever come across in an MMO.

I don't doubt that most people who are already part of or familiar with the community have that same perception.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
I personally love this game...I really do...I don#T care about the graphics, hell no...but plz...PLEASE...give me more races or at least an orc, if I cannot play my lovley life-hating undead...It is not possible for me to play a human or a slim elf with ugly ears...really cannot stand this....So I ended up with the funny-tail kitty-guy....but at least it's no human or elf.
The game has a very EQish feel that I miss and I love that aspect of Project: Gorgon. I enjoy discovery and running into unanticipated things like being ambushed by "Psychedelic Mantis Assassins" in town when I poked my head in the wrong spot. I like the focus on group content like the large spider and the boss in the cave.
While the graphics don't matter so much the combat ability delay and animations bother me. Being this is not officially released until around the Dec 2016 time frame (give or take) I'm sure they will address these things in time.
Great game so far and the first ever that I am seriously thinking of backing on Kickstarter!

I guess I just had a poor first experience. It happens.
Hi everyone! I am Ryan (the author of this letter) and I just wanted to jump in and take a moment to personally thank everyone for their feedback. I have personally read every comment and I’ve written notes to take to the development table. I understand the appeal of ultra-realistic graphics, but that’s just not what Project Gorgon is all about. We are focused on allowing the player to create a truly unique playing experience. However, with that said, we are committed to optimizing and improving graphics moving forward. In fact, that’s one of the primary reasons for our Kickstarter.
We take feedback seriously and we have implemented dozens of player suggestions. If you truly have a suggestion, please share it! Constructive criticism is great and we are, after all, designing Project Gorgon for the players! I will be hanging out here reading comments, taking notes, and sharing updates.

Plus, I don't have your natural Texan charm
I was away from PG for some time but last time I checked the community was really nice. It might have changed and the Hiveleaders warnings about "so don't F it up" came true but unless everyone left I highly doubt that. You probably just hit a bad time without ppl answering every question in a min or two because that is what the game had.
@Silv, nice to see you here. During my time in PG I spoke to various ppl about bugs and things that could be improved. And although I hate each and every GM/Dev for deleting the ultimate +300ish dmg hammer I have to admit you listen to the community. Because after those talks we all send a report and the Devs did change stuff or tried it for a few patches (read month). The refreshing thing about the game is that you listen to players but if they are just wrong you will turn back and fix stuff in another way.

Exactly, I was always cool with many on Bloodfin in SWG, that didn't mean I didn't see those same people turn around and act like elitist jerks toward what segment of players they viewed as scrubs. It also makes a huge difference regarding when you join a community, at first things are not like that, hell on Bloodfin we did nothing but zerg from Bestine to anchorhead night after night, after night with starter pistols. Later once folks had their bearings and created their clicks that greater community wide involvement died off, it really didn't reemerge until well after the game started to take a turn for the worst.

As with the others in this thread, I to would prefer paying to unlock inventory space as opposed to having it dependent on a VIP subscription.
"Project Gorgon devs need to raise their standards and make better graphics.." Since when graphics sell games? They ask for 20k on kickstarter and not millions, think about that for a second before you go "yadda yadda graphics yadda yadda". This game will rock for the money you spend on it.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
I've been playing it off and on for the past couple of years......It has some nice elements but alot of things that are a pain too...The server issues being front and center.....Many of us had log in issues and at times it would last quite a few days.....ITs not something I would ever consider paying for.

Hello Ryan,
My name is Mick and i play with computers since 1980.
So here is my suggestions to make this game a success:
Change the engine to Cryengine 4.
>>SMITE<<
>>Strife: best ever MOBA<<
>>Rift: FREE Ally of the Ascended Pack<<
Mess with the best, Die like the rest

My score (out of 10 possible)
Graphics: 5 (kind of like the forest, the cave is horrendous though)
Animation : 7 (Better than CamelotUnchained so far, by far!)
Interface: 3 (Really absolut substandard)
Gameplay: 6 (Seems to have quite a potential, just not exactly realize yet)
Classes : 4 (very limited options)
