Does ESO Have Any Fierce/Intimidating Looking Gear?

FuryVFuryV Member UncommonPosts: 515

I enjoy ESO gameplay wise and got to veteran rank 1 before putting the game to one side.  I just couldn't get over the fact that the gear looked so plain and uninspiring.

For example, I was hoping Daedric gear would look something like this - http://orig05.deviantart.net/1941/f/2014/197/4/a/daedric_armor_by_satanssidekick-d7r12lc.jpg

But instead it apparently looks like this - http://i58.tinypic.com/2echziw.jpg

I never got anywhere close to endgame so I don't know if any of the higher level gear looks any better, but even my character at veteran rank 1 looked like he'd just thrown on some noob gear.

Does it get any better at higher levels?

I guess not.  That's a real shame.  It doesn't have to be massive spiky fire crap but it's gotta have some prestige to it so it looks different to noob gear.

no, but it has cat ear hats. Thats all i need.

EDIT: daedric armor in ESO looks pretty cool. Not as exaggerated as Skyrim, so i like it better in ESO. Specially the seducer armor... mmmh

Except it doesn't really look cool.  It's nothing in the slightest compared to Daedric gear from the singleplayer games.  Instead we get some light blue bland crap with hardly any design whatsoever.

You're aware of the Dye system right :)?

Overall I agree, like most TES games ESO suffers in terms of where interesting gear design is concerned. Gear can be rather boring in the looks department, although there are exceptions, like some of the light and medium designs, they work rather well for what I like a character to look like. Basically your typical rogue look... As far as big and scary goes you won't find much.

IMO the Skyrim version looks to extravagant so i guess is personal preference. Most of them have better design than ESO but made them over the top and lost their appeal to me. I fix that by wearing heavy boots and leggings with light tops (not robes).

What i really do not like from ESO armors is that they look painted on the body instead of actual gear over the body. I remember mmorpg.com mentioning that back in beta (or was it alpha?) and they never fixed that. I cannot understand how they thought that was a good idea. Even low quality F2P mmos have gear that doesnt look tattooed to you.

IMO that would likely be a result of going with large scale PVP as a mainstay. GW2 kinda has the same problem with a lot of their gear, only certain parts look as though they aren't "painted on". Basically just the shoulders and waist accessories. other parts have no layering, creating that look. Which means they most likely are just "painted on".

Yeah sorry, I am aware of the dye system actually.  Then again, even if I dyed that daedric gear it'd still look crap (IMO of course).

the gear in ESO isn't as detailed as skyrim, thats been established for quite some time now. if dyed all black i think it would look pretty decent and i too like my characters to look menacing.

compared to other mmo's i don't think the armor sets look too bad, i don't compare mmo's to single player games however.

Asked myself the same question the other night and ended finding this site:
http://eso-fashion.com/ which has pictures of all the armors ect.

and... by the looks of things pretty much everything in the game is horrible.

Seems a step up from what they currently have.  Nice to see.
