I am really looking forward to this game. I may violate my policy of not buying into early access just to get some hands on no matter how far along it happens to be.
The next build is shaping up nicely. Late March or possibly April is the release, and we've got a slew of new press coming along at the same time. If yer on the fence, wait until then before you buy in...make sure you're gonna get your money's worth as we're still in testing mode, not polish/release mode
Much appreciated man, I will take a look. Thanks for the response.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Awesome
Indeed The programming team are making leaps and bounds. We've been getting several new builds per week recently with little things being added in that flesh it all out, and it's shaping up nicely !

So just to confirm you are saying that if I buy into your "Early Access" I will in fact be able to participate in all the above. if you confirm that, I will go buy it tonight and load up the game and livestream for all to see. (No NDA right?). Of course if you do NOT have all that stuff you just said you had, that would be blatant fraud. So think long and hard before the next flippant response.
The only way you'll know for sure is if you come on board and get involved with the rest of the community.
High hopes here my friend. We need games like yours on the market.
There's quite a few games in the works right now that we're following with anticipating and have backed/pre-ordered, or in some way or another supported. It's a great time to be following the MMORPG market with the influx of old-school and independent titles being released

Use that passion for something positive!
Why should a customer have to guess about what is functional in the product they buy? That is an absolutely ridiculous concept.

So don't pre-order. Problem solved. You're happy because you didn't have to support something you don't trust or believe in, and we're happy because we don't have someone on board who doesn't believe in the project.
Or do pre-order. And get involved. Use that passion for something positive and help sway development decisions with the rest of the Early Access community.

Either way, it's a win-win for us.
No. The claim was made that certain things are in the game. I said they weren't in, at least not yet. You said they were. I called you on it and you said the only way to know is to buy pre-access to your game. That is a ridiculous statement.
One shouldn't have to play word games and use tricks to get people to buy a game. So again, are crafting, player housing and caravans in the game that I can participate in Early Access right now? Not in a few months, not maybe in by end of year. Not maybe by 2018. Are they in the game I can play today?
Tell the truth and you get support. Trying to play word games and giving flippant answers has not proven to work well for your predecessors who also promised the world and delivered little.

@Renfail I like the idea behind this game. My friends and I will be coming from EQ and are thrilled at the prospect of a fresh group-oriented MMO. Any updates on the March/April build? Our group moves as a unit and some are still skeptical.

Stay skeptical until you feel comfortable. There's zero reason to pick up a pre-order until you feel are ready to do so.
We're still on track. The build is coming along nicely. We're having our next internal test on the 19th of March after I get back to the office, and once we do that, we're looking to set a date for our next public test.
We've got plenty of time ahead of us and a long way to go still, so no worries if you and the friends want to remain on the fence. The only reason to get involved this early is if you REALLY believe in the vision and the team.
If you're like most of the skeptics on this site, just hang off until you're ready...even if that means post-launch
Other than the races being kind of ... different (where are the elves and dwarves? Got to have elves and dwarves), this game does look promising and like it could fill an important niche pretty fast. Will definitely watch for this one.
We've got similar. Wood Elves (Elenhi) and the Dark Elves (Eldeni) and Dwarves (the least similar; the Dwearhe are more like rock golems/elementals than dwarves).
I'd say our elves are probably the most similar to those from Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series, as opposed to any sort of classical high fantasy setting.
Glad you're interested We've got a lot more to come, so stay tuned!

They were a huge influence on me when I was first designing the D&D campaign all those years ago. His elves were amazing Especially the backstory between the division...amazing lore there

I also used his "idea" of elves when I had my D&D campaign all those years ago.
Great books.

I love when a developer goes against the grain with races like Elves or Dwarves or whatever. Awesome. Tad sure had a different idea of Elves. Glad to see you and your team pulling from such great sources for your inspiration. Look forward to it.
Those who are familiar with good fantasy will find similarities to Williams, Feist, and a few others
Amazing pool of resources out there to find inspiration from!
I have what I consider to be the most comprehensive in depth contains pretty much everything I want MMO that covers the fantasy(ish) midevil genre so speaking personally the genre alone makes it an out for me.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

While there's certainly some fantasy elements, it's heavily grounded in medieval reality....our initial setting is a magic-less world with nothing more than relics left from before, and mankind gets things done by the sweat of their brow and their own two hands.
We're working hard on the "realism" factor, and using the lore and backstory to build up to something much greater as the world grows
Looks interesting, but with so little actual detail available, a lot is being asked to be taken on faith. Probably a game that will be worth looking into when its actually been made, which by the sound of it, could be several years from now. Pre-ordering at the moment would be foolish given that premise.

Yep, two years, 200+ newsletters, 200+ video dev diaries, and beyond, isn't really a lot of information. Kind of a lack of information, right?
Not a single person is forced to make a pre-order. Don't want to take it on faith? Wait until we release.
Meanwhile, for those who want to get involved in the Early Access program, the pre-orders are there. We'll let folks make up their own minds
And continuing in our tradition with this mega-thread, here's the latest video from our internal test yesterday afternoon.
This is about 15% of the features and areas that are available this upcoming April 30th. We've got a boatload of other stuff our Early Access folks will be testing this round, from mechanics to combat, to sounds, music, and beyond!
Just more of the promised progress in action, one step at a time, in all its non-polished, early alpha, alpha, beta, and through to launch glory!
