Whenever these developers get over their fascination with open world FFA PVP, the customers will be waiting.

That's a name that gets the nostalgia going, great choice. Looks promising. Glad to see the blend of art styles, best of both worlds if they can pull it off. Could allow for complexity of mechanics within the simplicity of the visuals. Many MUDs had OW FFA PVP back in the day as well as UO which were the real starts to all of this for many of us. This attachment issue with shiny loot and fear of dying weren't such an issue back then for some reason. Obviously the influx of gamers came with an increase of jerks and what not, but a properly ran product should have ways of dealing with such folks. I didn't get mad when a random high lvl mob killed me in EQ, same goes for most player deaths.

I'm waiting for just one of these games to leave out the PVP.

I was looking at your KS and Sorry but Pvp Only.. No Thanks! Otherwise I might've jumped on the MUD Rider just to wild out with the Giant GP. Good Luck though the graphics look really nice.

So another mmo based on minecraft... I think one of the things that made Minecraft such an outrageous success was that it was not an mmo. Once you rely on the company to run and control the servers you mind as well play a themepark mmo and follow their set goals.

Yeah because games with FFA PVP like UO really took off and brought people into MMO's.....

Oh look another Minecraft clone wannabe MMORPG with FFA PVP! I can barely contain my excitement, in fact, i might have soiled my pants just now.

Bad timing with Eco's kickstarter going right now. I was far more impressed by what it is trying to do then Mud.

Notch made minecraft with no kickstarter.. Why do developers need kickstarters in order to make games? To make easy moneyz.. Nothing else.

    Would never support.

Does Notch have time traveling abilities to use things that didn't exist yet.

    Kickstarter company launched in 2009.

Minecraft was in development in 2007-2008.

so yeah Notch couldn't use it, because space-time continuum
He still managed to make a couple of billions.. So can developers today. Kickstarters have brought nothing good so far. Not the stuff I've tried anyway.

RE: The FFA PVP, Ben told me they're definitely open to PVE servers and so forth. Think of it like ARK, where you have the choice which ruleset to play.

What we need are more WoW clones. PVP is scary business.

So interesting that the majority of gamers never experienced games with actual FFA PVP, yet fear and dislike it so much.

I blame poor game design and moderation I guess, allowing jerks to run around doing whatever in other games which has put the concept into a negative space.

Oh well, good to see almost all games going in the direction of this one. Grindy mindless PVE for +1 boots are a dying breed.

MUD as in multi user dungeon? the format that they used 25 years ago with no graphics? Why do they need kickstarter for that?
  • KnivesyKnivesy Member UncommonPosts: 6
I was with you til the PvP part. As long as they give you the choice of not playing on a PvP server, I'm still with you. I kinda like the mix of graphics. I'll throw them a few bucks. It can't hurt.
