best action twitch mmo combat, wwhich other mmo has street fighter fighting mechnanics and let you get an opportunity to dodge enemy attacks even pvp. it will be the best mmo combat ever in the west for sure. other mmo lets other players hit you wwith full attacks with no way to prevent damage.

The fact that your name is ArcheAge already shows us that you have no idea what you are talking about. In my opinion Blade & Soul will be outdated before it launches. Even if the graphics are still acceptable, the mechanics make the same mistakes as most other eastern mmo's, they don't westernize them properly!

also blade and soul has a lock on aim system to do loads of combo's after-each other. It is absolutely not a full action-mmo. The furthest the action part goes is the fact that most classes have either a block or counter-attack button which can be used to block/counter-attack attacks at the last second. However those block and counter-attack moves can also be countered by a different ability.

So yeah the combat is interesting but it's not like the OP described it where you have an actual fighter without being locked on to your target.  Actually Tera is even more action combat than Blade and Soul ( no I am not calling Tera a better game ).

I don't get the obsession with twitch combat in MMO's. For me MMO's are games to be played for a long time and that's much easier to do if the combat has a more relaxed pace. Frantic FPS action styled combat is great for short bouts but not if you plan on playing for several hours.

Plus I can't ever see a Korean grind fest being the best MMO. Not for a western audience anyway.

Sounds like a great pvp game and i heard it is pretty competitive in the east.

The mechanics sure are interesting and I will definitely play it, that reactive combat system has a lot of potential imo, but let's be honest, any game that doesnt aim at giving the players delusions of grandeur and instead shows them the truth about their skill level wont become a huge success.

I have yet to play a single Asian MMO that I have even remotely liked.  In fact, I have yet to play a non-American MMO that I have liked.  Foreign MMOs are the perfect example on just how different other cultures can be and what they consider to be fun and entertaining.

MMO - Murica Multiplayer Online ;)

If a bunch of American devs made a game in China would it be considered an "American MMO"?

What if a bunch of Korean devs made a game in US ?

What exactly is an American MMO - like a game made in Brazil?

One based on American culture and values.  What we consider fun and entertaining is not necessarily true for other cultures and vice versa.

Click bait title.  Action combat systems don't interest me so I don't know how this would constitute being "best MMO ever" when the battle system alone will alienate a lot of people.

Its too outdated. Game has been out like 4 years in Korea. game was released june 30th 2012. 4 years later it wants to make its way to the US? It's far too late imo. You have to many new games/older games to try to grab a piece of the market. Very similar problem with archeage. You cant wait 4 or 5 years to bring a game to the US once its a dead game in its original country. Thats not fair at all.  Different story for console games though.

I disagree. Action combat, when done right, is actually easier on the old fingers. Traditional tab-target combat requires a lot of repetitive button pressing, plus a lot of camera dragging with the right mouse button, plus your fingers have to span a whole row of the keyboard. Action combat systems can dispense with those requirements, and there's no rule that says the pace of battle has to be any faster.

I've played it and have mixed feelings about it.  Some parts of the game are nice, the rest of it is just meh. I would much rather play games like God Slayer online or Moonlight Blade.

Agreed 100%. That's the elephant in the room so to speak with competitive pvp games, especially games that don't artificially inflate player skill, by way of being able to "out gear" an opponent. It's a problem I see a lot in GW2 pvp, people get owned and can't figure out how. They think well our gear is even, he must be cheating, ect. It's rare to find players willing to admit they aren't as good as someone else is. That's also why in LoL, there's an oddly large amount of "pro smurf players" in bronze rating that think everyone sucks.

This is true there are differences in Apac and western playerbase but I am still a bit hazy on what constitutes "American culture and values" - because north and south America collectively have a huge variance of cultures and values.  Hell US alone is highly multicultural.

I think it's when you take Western culture and values, slap some red white and blue on it, give it a gun and claim it as murican. :)

I hope that none of you will take this as an insult, but due to the regular MMORPG.COM posters here that support this game, I can see right away it's not a game I have any reason to patronize.
This gives me more motivation to try this title, thanks for that, I guess.

    Eh, Guildwars 2?

The combat do look pretty fun though, but TERA also had fun combat and the problem there was everything else.

My fears is that we get the same shoddy rat killing quests in loads as most other Korean and Chinese games have. If that is so then the cool combat system wont be enough.

What freaking MMOs are based on American culture and values now? I mean how do you tell the difference?

If Game Freak and Nintendo ever make a Pokemon MMO in earnest, watch that shit explode in America. That'll show you anti eastern values what for.
Hmm, the main point of most MMOs seems to be to get as much cool stuff and gold as possible and that sounds well within American culture and value to me. :)

It is true though that certain things are considered fun in some places and boring in others. South Korean and Chinese games tend to differ a bit in gameplay, with less focus on story and grindier quests. That doesn't mean that you have to hate Tera because you're from California but generally certain features are more popular in certain regions.

And there are always exceptions to any rule, Korean games generally have a very limited character customization but Aion have one of the best around.

Generally speaking though are North America, Europe and Japan into one type of MMOs while Chinese, South Korea and countries around them are into another. Russians are a bit in the middle with more PvP focus. That is of course not true for every player but a game tend to sell way better in one of the regions.

A good game is a good game though and a good game will still sell pretty good everywhere even if it usually do better in some places.

And there can be pretty local oddities, "Natural selection 2" have a huge percentage of the players in the Vatican (the Swizz guard loves it) while TSW is very popular in Norway.
