I play, lego Lord of the rings... Who cares what he currently is playing, god lol. Like that would have anything to do with the points he made.......... That to the t is like saying that since I now drive a ford, all my other reviews of Honda are now void, did you forget to eat for like a month or something?
Some of what he said is dated. Offline labor regens same as online now if patron.
Inflation of cash store items is ridiculous. Deflation of in game items makes that inflation even worse. Land is stupidly priced. Saw a 24x24 in Gwen today that spilt level townhouse for 35K gold. I had 3 of those before I quit. Now I dont even have the designs because I abandoned the game and all my deeds and stuff I had in houses (including maybe 10 APEX or more and a hundred or so labor pots) all poof and no answer to the ticket I put in.
You can still play the game for free. You just need to spend a lot of time making money, which now with game play isnt very easy, despite what some people claim. They also try and claim making money to buy Apex (which is 550G + now) isnt that hard. Maybe if you have 3 or 10 plots and know every trick to making cash there is then maybe. But a new toon with no land and now other way to make in game gold other than questing will find it impossible. I rolled a new guy on the new server. Prices are semi reasonable, but thats because no one has any gold yet. APEX selling for between 75-100G people trading gilda (the old run a toon get your 50 story line gilda and deleting toon trick) for gold to seed themselves.
This game is what a "free2play'' game personifies. If you have no life and can either spend 10-12 hours a day playing or pulling out your wallet to get a nice head start then no its not that difficult to get set up. But even though he claims it has everything, the everything it has isnt that great or indepth.
This wouldn't be so bad if a sub was the end result (and if the land hackers had never existed, because I was never going to grind gold, much less pay cash, to them). If no sub = you grind like a Chinese gold farmer sub=farming, trading, and so forth, I would have played happily from day one of release.
But Trion/XL is greedy. They want way more than $15 a month to enjoy AA to the fullest.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
If this game had been released before F2P/P2W craze had wormed it's way into our self entitled freeloader society, then it would have been my favorite game of all time.
Unfortunately the advent of the cash shop has ruined this game entirely. It's unplayable unless you are willing and able to spend hundreds or thousands. I look forward to more games being ruined by F2P in the future. A great age for gaming is upon us.
we had - what we learned later - the pay2play client for many months in the first alpha. that was just amazing. what we got 3 weeks before beta, was what i call the "post Jake Song" version, flooded with milking mechanics.
Trion - im pretty sure - had and still has A LOT to tank due to the Koreans. Its XL making the rules and i heared Jake is back.
The game is still under heave development and can serve serveral setups. Still the best game on the market to me, but the mechanics cleary took a real bummer with the beta version ...
Lost all his credibility for me from the get-go by saying 2000 hours. As said before this is waaaaaay too much time to finally get to the point of realization that you don't like something.

You do understand that freeloading, and self entitled have nothing to do with f2p/p2w right...... haha, it is the other way around. Game companies found out that people were spending retarded amounts of money, buying power levels, items ect, so they just did it them selves, so they would make more money. If any one is self entitled, and a free loader, its us folk that expect mmos to be happy with 15 dollars a month, plus a box price. Vs them making 10k plus from one person.

How is that losing his credibility, that doesnt even make any sense. Did you even read what he wrote, apparently not to come up with some garbage you just typed. I am not going to repeat, what has already been said about 10 times in this thread, because you decided to read 3 words, and type the garbage you just did, with out even reading the rest of peoples posts.
The brand new euro server has snowballed out of control. Good luck getting anything done in conflict territories.
huh?
i started playing in the new euro and the server was packed (east side) ,but stoped playing a few days ago , i give it another try and "meh" , the game has been improved but still dont enjoy it

I kinda have to agree with him even after reading months of complaints about this game. I mean it's been disaster story after disaster story for it, yet he can last 2000 hrs, even if a lot of that was offline, that's still a lot of play time as well. He was still going.
I see this type of thing for lots of games on steam, players with 2000+ hours turning around to offer a bad review. For many games I've put 100's of hours into myself and really enjoyed. It's almost always some little thing that turned everything sour (like a business model/money making practice), not much different than here really.
In the end you're giving way too much credibility to a bad review, seemingly because it says what echos from your own thoughts.

If he spend 2k hours, and is only now coming out with this. He must have like it somewhat. Something tells me something happened that he didn't like and is grousing. You don't play that long without having some fun.
Point 6 is what he says broke the camel's back.
I'll do the same thing. I'll play a game for a long time, all the while weighing the positives against the negatives. If it's close, something can happen that will tip the positives and negatives. Then I'm gone. It can take 5 mins. of gameplay or 5 years. Point 6 did it for him.

The point being, is it a fun game if it wasn't designed around a cash shop? If you removed the cash shop and all the game mechanics put in to screw the players over that didn't dish out money, would it be better?
This is what it means when people say that microtransactions have ruined games. The games themselves have devolved and gotten worse, because they need to put in these shitty little spigots into your wallet. Imagine if you could just play the game and get the items. Wow, what a concept. Wasn't that the whole point of those bad old MMO's that had subscriptions? That you could play a GAME and get toy digital stuff in the GAME? Hell no, let's go to work on people using psychology.
People are far too accepting of this sort of exploitation. Yes, it's exploitation when you target people who have a positive reinforcement loop around throwing money at something. In gambling, it's called an addiction. Here in video game land, it's ok because there are freeloaders who support the exploitation model thinking they are going to get ahead of the curve and "win" the MMO somehow. There is a nice little South Park episode that explains the addiction aspect pretty well.
What's sad is that this massive cash drain doesn't even let you "win". You don't get to buy equipment, no that would be pay to win. So the game company lets you buy a chance to have a chance and getting a part of what you need to invest in equipment. How the fuck do you like them apples? This is the worst kind of game mechanic imaginable.
What you used to farm in a Skinner Box for $15 a month you have to pay through the nose to just get a whiff of a chance at "winning" now. How is this progress? As old and boring as grinding was, this is hardly an improvement.

hmm so people end up not enjoying many things in life after much more time than that invested , people get tired of maybe a car with problems , a wife/gf , a restaurant you may have enjoyed for years (many many examples)all things that they really loved , but then decide they have had enough of what what they are getting back from there investment / in time/money/emotion .. and make a decision to cut ties ..... Do they all lose credibiltity ..
funny when people just blurt out comments because they Cant Understand Normal Thinking
10. I've lost motivation to continue listing the reason this game is one to avoid.
All in all Archeage is a truly ground breaking MMO that is a victim of poor management and greed. It's such a shame because in the right hands this would be an MMO to invest all your time in.
Seriously, just avoid it and spare yourself the inevitable pain and frustration that will come from playing this game.
Sounds as if, to my ears, that he actually ran out of negative points at 7.
"I could go on", usually means, "I can't go on but I will say that I can, because..."
I'm not interested in hearing the voice of burn outs really in these games any more. I am interested in hearing from the guy that spent that 2k on why he did... He must have been having a fuckin blast, right? At least for the time he played? He must have LOVED the game to spend that.
These burn out reviews are usually from the guys that won't say anything while they are having fun and throwing cash at the game. They just come here full of buyers regret and project their buyers remorse and self loathing at the thing that they once loved because they have reached their natural end with the game.
Ask the same question to anyone who regularly plays powerball or megamillions lotto.
That's not the same thing at all is it? People who want to win millions of dollars are not the same as people who stand to gain nothing whatsoever, in real world terms. But even worse in games exploiting these tendencies in people for nothing, not even in game items, has to win the Douchebag of the Year Award.
This is exactly the situation that people warned about when this microtransaction business all started. Games have turned to shit, and people are getting robbed. Exploiting addiction and misery is an ugly thing.
The point being, is it a fun game if it wasn't designed around a cash shop? If you removed the cash shop and all the game mechanics put in to screw the players over that didn't dish out money, would it be better?

Hey at least you admit that you can't win by spending cash (which is why I haven't touched the cash shop since Sept 2014).
So it's not p2w because the rng won't let you win.
I'm sure you never used any of the charms in the marketplace while regrading your gear/weapons. Since it's soooo easy to pvp and/or do dungeons (Which are terrible btw) without having pieces regraded to celestial+ right? (Better say required most/all pieces unless you like to use a cheap class and gank people from stealth then running away)
You might have not bought them yourself, but someone had to.
WoW mentality ruined this game for people. Especially the guys screaming "P2W,P2W,P2W'' over and over again.
Its not really pay to win its pay to have a chance at ''winning''. But if people ever looked at gear and stats and all that then its not worth it to try for that gear in most cases anyway. But because of WoW and the introduction of the gear grind people feel the need ot have the 'best' gear they can.
But the thing about AA is you dont need any of it. Just play in rags. If you want to PvP or be 'competitive' just stop. Cash shop or not its unlikely most people would be competitive anyway. If they gave every player the exact same gear the same guys who sucked and claimed 'I cant be a wallet warrior" are going ot be the same guys sucking if everyone was dressed the exact same way.
The biggest problem was the hackers, regardless of type. Guys who spend money make it so everyone else can play for free, but hackers just kill the game for everyone. because they also kill those guys who did spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get great gear. But the hackers do it with a cheat.
Game can be played completely free.
I went back and bought some land (after losing some of the best spots in the game when I left in Dec). But you can make enough gold in maybe 3 hours to pay for 2 APEX. I log in 3 or 4 times a day and pick my plants and pluck my birds. NO labor issues no major problems. I also dont plant larders or run trade packs. Waste of time, money, and labor. I probably have 20-25 hours in the past 8 days. Bought a couple APEX, that land, a few other things I had to replace and still making cash and goofing around in wars.
Could it be better? Obviously as could every other MMO out there. I wont ever spend another dime on a Trion game again but it wont stop me from playing the ones I have played before. And while there was a major exodus from the game there are a lot of people still playing it. More than I thought were left actually.
