Nope, still burned from warhammer promises that were never kept after lengthy presentations and the total let down with the flying hackers ruining my experience. How much is it to actually get onboard here and test whats available right now? If it was cheap enough might be persuaded, if not I don't see myself risking another title with MJ involved.
Try not to take it personally that much Mark, you have to understand I watched all your videos with warhammer online and seeing your enthusiastic jiggle in each update and what was coming reeled me in good.

They have several pledge tiers depending on what you're interested in. It's also 100% refundable at any time. Here is the URL to the pledge page: https://store.camelotunchained.com/
CSE and Mark have probably the best development strategy of all games, this transparency and no marketing BS is just absolutely gold. For that alone, huge, massive amount of respect.
The true jewel of this game hides in the detail of that said realm pride, class price, and how [hopefully] classes, abilities and spells are created with the goal of 1+1 equals more than two. The best community is created when you actually benefit from that particular someone else, the best experience is when that cooperation works, and the best victory is when you win as an underdog because of superior team play. This, this alone in my books is something that has been lost in MMORPGs for years, decade even. And its the very source of class price, I am needed, I play a role in the community that matters, I am target of "looking for that class". And realm, "we got that group who excels, lets talk about them and follow their lead". Without the buffs, auras, speed songs, minstrels, support pets, combat engineers, its just 2000 individuals in a smallish battleground not giving a damn about the next pool of HP trying to get that irrelevant increase of irrelevant number.
For combining these two strategic standpoints, I think CSE is without a question the best dev company I have ever met or read about. I pledged my gold for the hopes that CU matches the quality of its developers.
DAoC - 00-06 - And every now and then WoW - Online since launch - and now back again. EVE - Online since 07 - and still on, and on, and on.. WHO - Online 08-10 LOTR-O - Online 06-08 Also played : Asherons Call, EverQuest, EQ2, Dungeons & Dragons, Cabal, Dark & Light, GW, GW2, LA2, Ryzom, Shaiya, SWG, Allods, Forsaken World, ArcheAge, Secret World, Darkfall, Rift, ESO, Tera.
Hard to tell from that screenshot but the game already looks a little dated....DAoC wasn't really great graphically tho and still had good game play.
They have not even began to really do anything in terms of making the game prettier. It has all been about creating their own engine and procedurally generated terrain. Beautification will be coming.
Sounds hopeful. I love that Mark is being honest and open with the backers. Even though he has this attitude he is also very loyal and focused on making this game... I have no doubt it will sail straight once it gets in the water. Anyone who doubts that needs to have more faith in Mark imo. Glad to hear about the progress and the screenshots look nice ^_^
Honestly, the idea that they aren't going to use megaserver tech like ESO is one of the best pieces of information I could've found about this game.
Realm pride can never exist without truly delineated realms. I am extremely interested in the progress of this project.. And am seriously considering backing my first MMORPG.
I really want to put some money down on this project, they are saying all the things I want to hear. But I am still going to wait a bit longer to make sure this isn't another Warhammer Online.
I've been following this game on and off and I watched some of the live streams. DAOC was a great game, but then you had warhammer online. I heard a lot of promises then too. One thing I respect though is they offer a refund to any backers. That takes some balls. Imagine if Star Citizen had done that lol.
After playing GW2 the whole server pride thing make me cringe a little. I hope the devs saw what a mess that turned out to be and how people gamed the system. I'm not so sure a pvp focused MMORPG can really work long term, especially with a monthly sub business model. I hope the game is great, but I'm not betting money on it yet, even with a refund option.

These screnshots are kinda dated, you can check this, this or, say, this for some more recent alpha stuff.

I, for example, wouldn't mind another WAR (But don't worry - this will be neither WAR 2 nor DAoC 2, as devs clearly stated many times).

Don't get me wrong, I loved the shit out of WAR's beta. But my main concern is seeing another situation where the team bites off more than it can chew, and another situation where my god damn RvR Lakes get emptied by the inclusion of FREAKING BATTLEGROUNDS MAPS! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.....

Let's just say I was not pleased with scenarios.
WAR is just another EA tragedy, in CU Mark and Andrew have full control - much more like it was in old (DAoC days) Mythic.
They won't be forced to launch buggy & unfinished game prematurely, there will be no SWToR ("how can this possibly fail?") to canibalize on their team & budget, there will be no WotLK only 7 weeks after launch, they will not have to have standard MMO features (quests, classical PvE, battlegrounds...) and so on.
For example, scenarios/battlegrounds will be there only for the very beginners, used as an introduction of low levels to the main game, RvR, and nothing more than that.
Hi,
I am not sure whether to back or not. What still confuses me is the available information about the upcoming controls of Camelot (maybe i didn't search enough, so it is my fault). Could anyone please tell me how the controls will work ? Will it provide mouse lock/look similar to the new function of Wildstar ?
Thank you very much

They are using server-side physics for CU so things like flying hacks won't be possible. Here's a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo4unYGQGB0&feature=youtu.be&t=9m33s
