Tonight i was completly disgusted

Ok so im playing a certain game wich will remain nameless as it really doesnt have any bearing on my disgust.

In this game i attend a weekly roleplay meeting where a lot of things do not get accomplished.It used to be a thinktank for new ideas within the game itself and was at best semiproductive.But it was a nice little distraction.

So a player has open floor and is telling everyone his plans for his character blah blah blah....he apparently had a devs ear and is going to make a big deal about it in game.

Another player that was helping him decides to reveal who they are in reality.Well turns out its some famous author that writes a genre i could care less about.

Now im not buying this hook line and sinker.(cause ya know im really Robert Heinlein).But at that point the worshipping of said person started and didnt stop for 20 to 30 minutes.

So i logged out and well thats it....it turned into OMG i cant beleive its so and so and im playing a friggin game with so and so....

I guess i was a bit peeved that the meeting turned into a worship thing instead of a place for ideas to make the gameplay experience better.

I couldnt care less if I group with Georges Bush himself.  If he cant do his grouping job properly, I wont really enjoy to group with the person, yet I may very well bear them, especially if they are fun to group with despite been unefficient.  If they act like donkeys because in RL their stress is big and all, I will return them the favor and if they feel better for a silly pointless online issue with me, why not.

 

I would prolly tease the guy who claim so...

 

But bottomline is...I dont care who you are, I care about who your character IS!

 

And if the popular person have a groupie, /ignore work fine!

 

PS:  Next time you can answer Heaven just got Internet access and you just come back from chatting with the Lord.

Well im just venting here it wasnt a big deal.Its just that they threw this name out there and the "meeting" turned into something else.

It just kind of made me regret even showing up.I could have been out leveling ya know?

But the irony of it all is that he could actually be telling the truth. Famous people do play video games and, why not?, MMorpgs.

At least we have confirmations of some people on the scene, like R.A. Salvatore played EQ at a certain point... at least the rumor about Drizzt would say so.

Practically he created a dark elf named Drizzt Do' Urden and the CSRs told him he couldn't cause that was  a copyright violation. He answered that yeah, would be if he wasn't the HOLDER of the damn copyright.

But to no avail, nobody can escape from SoE's ferocious CSRs

That's what I was hoping about the original post, that it was R.A. Salvatore at the meeting. :P

Also, if that's true about the EQ rumor, that's halarious.
Maybe that's why Salvatore's books have been bad lately? He's been playing too much of an MMO. :P

I used to have an Iksar in EQ named Loish. Thats the name of the little dragon like familur from the Vlad Taltos books by Steven Brust. Had a guy geek out on me a little once when he found out I am actuly pretty friendl with said Mr Brust.( if you havent read any of his books pick up a few . Great reads)

Also I had a char from planetside named Shadow Moon. after the hero from the Neil Gamain book "american gods" I figured If I got any grief from thatone I could give his assistant the Fabulous Lorrain a call and get the ok. It's a little odd knowing a few famous authers, once you meet one they just kinda start to add up....now if I can get Steve to introduce me to Steven King next time he is in town...

How can i be jealous of a person ive never met?How can i be jealous of ANYONE in a stupid game?

The remainder of the meeting turned into hero worship that went on for more than 20 to 30 more minutes.I was not there to hero worship.

I guess what ticked me off the most was the socalled meeting completly lost its focus.It went from semiproductive to nonproductive in the space of a minute.

Beleive me im not so jealous of a person that i would even say or do something about it.

My whole philosophy on life is that i hate everyone equally.My hatred crosses all boundries,creeds and race.I therefore cant be racist or sexist or anything because well i hate everyone in a very general fashion.

BTW this was only the 2nd meeting i had attended.

ROFL, why do you care man? i dont get it.... first of all think about it for just a second.... lets say i was a famous person, what problem do all really famous people have? their privicy maybe? i would think if a famous person played a online game more than likely they would leave themselves a secret. i mean why would they feel the need to draw attention to themselves when they get all the attention they need irl? wouldnt they want to be like everyone els and be left alone? actually be able to socialize with other people without having to worry about being harrased because of who they are? i dunno its only a thory but im willing to bet it was someone just trying to get much needed attention in a game because they get none irl.....

I would have to admit, I would probrably be mildly annoyed with the scenario, though it often happens in all circles of life. And it IS only a game after all...

And to the OP, your signature kind of suggests that you might be disheveled with mmogs completely

My point exactly..i DONT care but everyone else in attendance DID at said meeting.The socalled meeting was hijacked by a socalled famous author.
