--- Old Post --- SEPTEMBER 2015
If you have never played this game before than now is the time.

All inactive veteran accounts, and F2P accounts will have full access to the membership features from Sept. 26th - Oct.18th.

This is one of my favorite WWII games of all time that was released back in 2001 and was an amazing experience back when I played in 2004-2005 and have logged in and out over the years. Development of the game has been inactive for a very long time, until a successful indiegogo crowdfunding campaign which jump-started a small development team for the game. A new development roadmap was created and published to the front page a few months ago, detailing what the new small team will be working on throughout 2015.

Here is the latest video released September 26th showcasing what will be coming out in the future, and what has already been released. While the game dated, it is a fantastic game experience and hopefully you will be seen on the battlefield. /S

Yes i  like a good gaming experience beyond graphics.
No this game does not offer it because it does my biggest peeve with military games, name plates and radar knowing where everyone is.
Where is the fun following name plates and knowing where the enemy is?Biggest peeve so a definite 100% no way would i play this.I quit playing COD when this sort of stuff started happening.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

" it does my biggest peeve with military games, name plates and radar knowing where everyone is."

Name plates above player heads only show for the faction side you are on (ALLIES/AXIS) and you can only be given a general idea of where the enemy is at, since players must place down markers on the Mini/MAP which may not be accurate intel.

Your biggest peeve has just been eliminated. Try the game and get a real opinion on the true game experience before judging the game, and then come back and share your experience. I simply cannot take someone serious if they have never actually tried the game before.

Ignore Wizardy, he loose with the truth in most of his posts on the forums.
As for the game, do not play it people. It has a long history of bugs never fixed, devs that play fav(resetting map to prevent axis from winning), poor attempt at trying to appeal to COD players by removing systems(mobile spawns instead of spawning in bases only), paper tigers, unkillable allied tanks in early parts of maps.
Also, the devs have an issue keeping their word. Where is north Africa or even russian front? Ask the dev why they are now posting on a forum they asked to remove their game from?

Except now they are taking real effort and striding forward to get the game development rolling again. It's all because of the indiegogo that raised $15,000 which hired two critically important skilled developers that have helped bring many things back online things such as Wiretap which is a third party external game monitoring utility that many loved in the past such as myself.

Axis won the last campaign just last week i.116)

Another thing to point out is just last week they had a special event which brought back the old flavors with No mobile spawns, depot spawning, no FB's to the town's\no brigade in them. Although the event is now over, it was pretty cool while it lasted. They are continuing to show real promise, and even announced a new mac client for download just a week ago. The game has not had an active development team working on the game for many years. Until recently which we have seen them do far more than they have ever before.

If you have never tried the game before than it is a fantastic time to play with the full access to the membership features between Sept. 26th - Oct.18th. Do not let others who have already played the game in the past, or have never played the game at all shut down your own opinion of the game, give it a chance where the developers are actually trying their hardest to remedy the past.

Time to head in game!~ /S

Never played this but I loved it when it was still registered on this forum.
Every day drama because a GM did something shady to keep the balance between the two factions.

In a way it was more fun to read than reports about GM Discord from Mortal Online.

Too bad the game didn't agree with this kind of publicity and asked to be removed from mmorpg.com

Hard to believe WWII Online: Battleground Europe has been around for 15-years now. Hope to see you guys in the game and fighting on the AXIS side. S!

Well the point still stands.. WWII wanted to be completely removed from mmorpg.com because they didn't like the exchange of their players without the ability to censor them here.

So if people aren't allowed to discuss it openly then you shouldn't be advertising for it either.

Sorry... not aware of any conflicts/beef between Cornerrat Studios and mmorpg.com. If an admin of mmorpg.com or a cornerrat developer contacted me to stop advertising the game for free... then I'll of course cease spreading the word. Mmorpg.com has been openly promoting WWII: Battleground Europe on the website for many years. Take a look at the front page and you can see mmorpg.com promoting the game right now in the blogs section.

Cornerrat Studios (as far as I know) is currently under completely new management and leadership. Development of the game is going full steam ahead now. They've been pushing for public exposure to their game, and have formed a community marketing team to help promote the game. I'm not apart of that marketing team, and have come here as a fan of the game to simply promote the free premium membership, and the 15th year anniversary of the game. Game is a ton of fun and you should give it a try- free membership lasts all month.

I cannot find a source between the conflict and would like you to provide one to back up your words. Although it sounds like this is a very old conflict, and probably no longer applies since new management and leadership. ---Until then! ~In the spirit of 1944~

This is a fantastic game to be playing on June 6th, D-Day. :pleased:

How exactly do you expect me to prove that the forums were deleted many years ago?

If the new owners are as open as you say then encourage them to open up the forums here again and everything will be fine.

You strongly believe they don't want their game to be promoted, but from what I've seen it's quite the opposite.

They've hired a community team dedicated towards marketing the game which speaks volumes of what they want now, compared to the seemingly nonexistent anti-marketing past. I'm not saying you're wrong and that such conflict never happened, I believe in your words. I'm simply saying it's no longer relevant, and that the current team deserves some free promotion advertisement. (God knows the game needs it)

WWII: Battleground Europe has been around for 15-years and surely that alone deserves some spotlight.

If what you say still had some relevancy, then some sort of message would be recorded on the internet somewhere. If you simply cannot show any proof or relevancy to back up what you've said above- then accept that your point no longer stands. It's a very old game, and so it's very unlikely anyone else will start any Battleground Europe threads on mmorpg.com anytime soon anyway.

I personally think fan promotion is the best promotion, and the new Chaps over at CornerRat deserve some proper advertisement outside of the same channels. I'm not going out of my way to contact them since the alleged conflict ended a long time ago, and If they wanted a special category for the game on mmorpg.com then they would've pursued it already.

Now with all that said- I'm opting for Opt. B:

Leave the thread as it is in the correct category [General Gaming] and call it a day.

Thanks for the source! I didn't doubt @Dakeru ; words one bitWe should still be able to discuss the game openly on mmorpg.com regardless of the game's special category listing removed. CornerRat is pretty much run by the community now, with some newly hired talented developers.

The game listing was requested to be removed, and not forcefully removed by mmorpg.com. We should be fine talking/promoting/advertising the game, even if said game doesn't have a special category. Correct me if im wrong and send the admins my way to arrest my thread immediately. Haha.

@TaishiFox - The game was nearly dead- but was revived with some successful crowdfunding campaigns a year ago. New developers were hired to create new content, and now the game is on the way to heading to steam, which will surely cause the population to rise significantly.

Im largely disinterested in going the extra mile as I've never given them my money, and have never made it to officer rank in the game. Funnily, that's about to change this month since I'm one rank away from officer since the last free membership event. I'm probably going to subscribe for the $9.99 monthly deal which is a steal.

    • This thread was made to simply promote the free membership that they're offering, and updated today to mention it's D-Day, and the game has been around for 15-years.
    • I countered you to point out that just because they remove the special listing on mmorpg.com, that does not mean I'm restricted from making a thread about the game. Nothing More... really!
    • I chose to make it about the special ongoing events/promotions for those who may be interested. Free advertisement and open discussion is allowed at anytime.
    • I personally don't think we need a special category to discuss the game and can do it here or anywhere at anytime.

    You left out discussing though.
If the new team is as open and friendly as you say then you could give them a poke to talk to mmorpg to add the forums again.

That's actually the whole point I'm making.

Just advertising without allowing critical players to be heard is kind of meh.

You can talk about it openly all you want in the PUB or General gaming section, as can the OP.
