Grindy feel

So with all the updates thrown in, what has changed to this game since it released...

Will the leveling feel less grindy, and will i feel connected to my character now..
Or is the basic game still the same?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Leveling speed was increased, so you can skip more of the "grindy" tasks, the secondary local quests. You could always skip a lot of these. If you did them all you completely outlevel the zone you are in and just get tiny amounts of XP in the end. On the other hand, this also means you can choose what stuff to do.

The "updates thrown in" include a lot of QoL improvements. E.g.
    • Movement has been sped up in the world and more transport points added.
    • The dreaded attunement has been condensed to 4 steps, which you will be doing anyway as you play the game, i.e. run dungeons and adventures.
    • The whole stat and rune system has been overhauled to make it easier to get into. Some complain it was simplified too much, but there is an argument to be made that 6 stats that translate into 6 other stats depending on which class you play was a bit much. The translation has been removed (RIP moxie) and you can tell what stat you are looking at now right away.
    • Gearing has been streamlined, where you can tell now that going from shiphands to adventures to dungeons to raids is the intended way, with crafting sprinkling in some gear to help you bridge a gap here or there.
    • Not part of the update, just a consequence of the game maturing: the first raid is regularly PUG'ed these days. That in addition to the easier attunement will allow pretty much anyone to see the the initial raid.
If you hated the action combat and telegraphs and couldn't find the option in the menu to turn off telegraphs you are out of luck. Combat is the same.

Lots of guilds are returning and reforming for F2P and are looking for new members.
