I agree...people need to take more time to think about all the people lost across our history.
I think this is a big deal:
a) 9/11 was a direct attack against innocent people, aka the largest terrorist attack in world history. Many people say that America is like a terrorist because of the recent war, etc...but that is out of context. America (and the rest of the civilized world) does not just decide to kill as many innocent people as it can. There is a distinct difference between war and terrorism. We did not call the attack on Pearl Harbor a terrorist attack, it was a military attack - so it is not just because it was against the US.
b) This forum is for people to speak about whatever, 60% of the members are from the US, and this was a painful time for our nation...and a date that all of our lives changed dramatically. I don't think anyone was saying other victims across the world should not be remembered - but they just wanted to honor these particular victims on the 2 year anniversary of this tragedy.
c) This was recently. In 60 years it won't be much of a big deal to people (as WWII is viewed now). This was only 2 years ago...and it is fresh in peoples minds.

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
They did it because they hate the American government. They have reason too. We are the most powerful nation in the world yes, but it's what we do with that power that needs to change. If America changed their policies, maybe we wouldn't get attacked. I think that America is so infatuated in the fact that we are so free.... that in the meantime, all the other countries have become free too. If not, more free than we are. In Germany, you can buy beer when you are 15. Guess what else, in Germany, they have a much lower rate of alchoholism. We are not as free as we were when it all began.
Let us never forget those who lost their lives for others on September 11, 2001.
