Is Rift funner now than before 3.4? Do you think new and returning people will keep playing beyond the attraction of the new calling?
I've been thinking about going back and trying out the primalist. So you if you have any advice on the best value packages from Steam let me know. What do you do with loyalty points?
I must admit I've come back to this game from time to time but it never kept me interested. Maybe it's because I've just figured out how to make my wardrobe look slick all day, but the general eye candy in this game is starting to make up for the generic questing which bored me to the point of leaving in the past. It's starting to offer a lot more now, the only thing that keeps me from being 'all in' is the pricing for stuff. I can get eye candy and fun from GW2 and it's cheaper to play. But I have been playing Rift everyday since the update.

I haven't played it since it became F2P and never will, but a friend of mine recently went back to check out the new calling. She said that it's ok, but nothing special and not enough to keep her interested.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I've been messing around in it and a few other games. I've been looking for a game where I can group when I want and where I can do things on my own from questing to fishing. Rift is one of the games that offers those options -- which is not WoW.
ESO is another one I'm subbed to, but it doesn't have much for me to do on my own with a max level character. I hope Orsinium will change that as the last two zones (Craglorn and IC) were almost exclusively group oriented. For me, a long-term "home" game needs stuff you can do alone when you don't feel like being in teamspeak.
In addition to the pvp and pve content, the fishing, crafting, and other things, there is housing. That's pretty cool as well.
FFXIV has all these things, and I would definitely be playing that game, except I have some strange issues with lag and disconnects with that game that make it unplayable for me.
Rift is a solid game and it works. I haven't played it enough yet to decide if it will become my home game or how I feel about the cash shop. So far, as a patron, I haven't felt bothered by the cash shop or the new "welcome" screen that a lot of patrons seem to dislike, on the forums at least.
I couldn't get past the first two Rift maps,it looked so much like a computer game rather than a world.
Those quest mobs were nicely placed over there and the other quest mobs nicely placed over here and after your done with those few quests follow the ramp up the hill and into the next zone of nicely placed mobs and quests.
I like to see mobs roaming around, crossing paths with other mobs, not stuck in their tight little section waiting for a player/quest to come along. When a game looks like just a pile of modules and random mobs,it looks sloppy like an assembly line rush job.
I think it shows the true face of ALL mmorpg game design right now,it is just too costly to do right and make a profit,so devs are just making assembly line games.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
No, they will take the free codes and sell them...... I mean who doesn't want a planar squirrel
Oh wait was that not the answer we were looking for
Honestly for me no, it will pull me back in for maybe a week or two then it's back to the been there done that but that's basically every MMO for me now.......
Since the free mount keys they are giving away are barely being grabbed I think the writing is on the wall.
4500 keys gone in less than 6 hours is actually very good for this site.
When you see a couple of hundred keys gone over the course of 5+ days - you'd have a point.
And how would you know what is good for this site? lol. You certainly do claim to know a lot of strange things, the insider on all things right? Do you monitor keys for all games? I know I don't, but I do know one thing......the Wildstar mounts were gone before you could blink. But I guess Rift fans are just more patient maybe. Yea...right. Enjoy your mount.
Rift is a great game and if you never got into it them I'm truly sorry you missed out. I've had my fun in that game making max level of every class and experimenting with all the different builds. I've moved on to GW2 and ESO for their nextgen combat systems. Which is what I'm currently seeking.

Wildstar just went F2P recently - when games go F2P they experience a huge spike in playerbase.
Example Trove during steam launch had two 20K giveaways and one 10K giveaways - all 50k mount keys were gone in a matter of hours.
So apples to apples comparison would be 2 years from now Wildstar has a new patch and MMORPG.COM does a giveaway - lets see how fast those mount keys go then, hmm?
You are only honest when it serves you. Calling this a mere "patch" is being intellectually dishonest and you know it; it is more of an expansion than a patch. How many MMO's patch games with a new class? You are wrong, Rift is nowhere near what it used to be. Get over it.

Can we not derail this thread? Why don't you take your fight to PM or something. Thanks.
Rift didn't really add much with 3.4. New class/dungeon/something else? After people level up primalist and toy with it for a like a few weeks after cap, they'll quit again. Pretty much how every game is now anyway. Also, you have GW2's expansion going live like next week or so, plus XIV's update shortly after, followed by some other betas probably. Rift is just an alternative way to kill time, just like wildstar is.
People leave every game. But some stay. Some come back for while.
Sums up every MMO on the market.
The majority of current playerbase jumps from game to game to game - this is the reality of the MMO market today.
You mean the reality of the VIDEO GAME market today. Which i think points to a positive outlook. There are so many good games available and more coming down the pipe.
@Ginaz You can switch servers every 7 days for free in Rift. Find which one is populated and go for it.
@Robokapp Really you are so negative or just don't know? Just in case that question was real and not a troll I'll help you a bit. Rift, SWTOR, Tera, ESO, GW2, Aion, WOW, TSW, EVE All these games are good and worth playing at some point in your gaming career. No none of them are perfect. And I'm sure I missed about 10 others.

Nothing is being derailed, it is completely relevant to the discussion. As of right now there are still 4,660 Keys Left for free stuff coinciding with this expansion patch. The interest is obviously low. You asked the question, I am posting relevant facts to back up my opinion that no, not many people will be returning for this. You can't post a thread with a question then get picky about the way people are answering it.
To the OP, Rift has a huge new content patch about 2/3rds of the way into an xpac. In vanilla, it was Ember Isle. In Storm Legion it was the Dendrome. And now we have Plane Touched Wilds in the Nightmare Tide xpac.
The content is rich with a good story, and lots of folks like the new calling. Interestingly, I think Trion got the balance down pretty well, as no one claims the Primalist is OP. Whether you like questing, raiding, grinding, wardrobes or building in Dimensions, Rift has a lot to offer folks. But whether players stay or not is probably mostly to do with other games coming out and if there's good social support.
Unless Trion does something about the abusive Forum mods they have the community will die. It's sad when a mod is worse than the biggest troll in your forums.
I healed Mistwraith and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!
Well, from what I've seen, Rift is a solid f2p traditional mmorpg, especially if you don't care of action combat. Like I've already said, I like fishing. Not sure how long I will keep playing this time, but I like having it on my computer and checking in from time to time.
Official devs report is that fishing will be major, if not the most major part of the game in the next patch coming Christmas 2015 . . . fishing will give best gear, best dimension items, and best of everything basicaly
Unless Trion does something about the abusive Forum mods they have the community will die. It's sad when a mod is worse than the biggest troll in your forums.
This would be expected if you understand people in general.
It takes a certain type of person to want authority over others, sort of power mongers, they can also tend be more driving in their goals than passive people are.
My point is that you can expect human nature to come forth, some not all of course will just love to take the role of authority and feel like they have control over others. It does not mean you can't have some really nice people as mods, but it does tell you that standards for hiring a mod seems to be pretty slack, like more of a friend of a friend or neighbor or insert any other superficial reason for hiring.
The problem of course is that it only takes one real bad apple to ruin it for the entire company.I know i have a bad taste for the old Frogster forum mods they were very obvious bad people. If you said you love them they pop into the forums in a heartbeat but if your looking for answers to problems they were never there, not a peep, like they didn't even exist.

I can agree with this because when i used to play Frogger cars wouldnt even stop. No one cared about the simple fact that i needed to cross the road and i agree people suck.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
As for Rift I tried it just never got into it.
