Are companions overpowerd now?

I noticed from lvl 30-46 the companions are overpowered.  This is making the game very easy where as before it was challenging.  I'm even using the servant droid and he's too strong.  Is this happening at all levels of gameplay?

 Curious considering I previously leveled through 30-46 without a companion (minus a very few cut scene events) because the game was too easy. It is a solo friendly game however and all recent changes are geared to increasing this design choice.

I wouldn't say they are overpowered, but instead i would say that now you can use any of them that you want, just select the role you want them to carry out, handy really, as you are now no longer limited to just 1 or possibly 2 companions because your either a Tank or DPS spec.

Lets put it this way when I wrote my (just me? thread/post) i was in the middle of combat not looking at my screen at all, and still had full health when I came back 6-7 mins later ( I read a few other posts in that time as well, haha).

I don't think it's possible to die now lol companion healing is crazy OP.

From memory the game was always easy. Dungeons are a race, a literal race where everyone is killing the mobs at a run before rushing onto the next area. 

But if they have changed it so that you are not limited to the one ugly-bastard companion that fits your class- or the one you buy from the shop, the drone [edit- it was an ewok]- then that is an improvement.

It's always been kinda easy, but i would die from time to time fighting silvers and elites. It's a lot easier now, a lot easier, be it elites silvers or a pack comprised of trash and silvers. I feel no danger at all in not completing the encounter.

Old content in games never meet up to the stat/ability/etc changes that come with expansions.  They never go back to balance old stuff cause it is a waste of time in these types of games.

Maybe they changed something because about 6 months ago I was having a really hard time on Hoth with a fully geared Character and Companion.  Now its like easy mode turned on.  Maybe you using one of the stronger PVE classes?  I was using powertech and sentinel.

Yes they are, I sent one set on dps against 2 golds and he took them both out with hardly a scratch. I have not done the level 60+ missions yet but every thing else I have seen has hurt the game I loved to play more than helped.

Same here, literally the same lol, as I too was having trouble on hoth up until this change, silvers and golds destroyed my Scoundrel rather quickly on numerous occasions there.

Companions are designed to scale better at mid-to high levels now, and only get stronger with Influence. they're less insanely powerful at the 1-10 range that they used to be with Presence bonuses, and more generally powerful across the whole game length. I always felt even in the 1.0 cycle they trivialized a lot of content, I recall taking several Heroic 4 bosses at even level as a healer with a geared tank companion. At one point in the Empire Balmorra droid factory I took the basement droid boss myself at same level, with two players watching that had wiped on it with their two companions(for a total of effectively 4 players). They were annoyed and impressed.

Hoth is where I always went to test build setups and rotations. Once I got tactics down to destroy golds I then committed the build and continued playing. Sadly the rest of the game thus became uber-easy mode.

This becomes most frustrating when I play along side my long time mmo friend. We want to head out and have challenging fights and progression. Swtor ended up not offering us this. ESO was far worse and to the point where I convinced him not to even play it. There was no reason to even pare up as I was killing things solo without effort.

The humor comes from the fact we are currently playing Champions Online for some short term fun because the Elite level scaling of instances actually makes the game extremely hard at times. With all it's faults and limited end game options it still offers at least instanced game play designed to flatline even the best geared players.

Agreed, I played SWTOR for the story, not particularly the combat. I actually quite enjoyed that it wasn't difficult as that was not the reason for me being there. People often act like difficulty is the be-all-and-end-all of MMOs, but SWTOR was designed around a story mode. That said, my main ranged class- can't even remember what it was called now- was fun. In fact I should go back and see what is new.

Maybe they plan on doing that buff nerf cycle.  Buff the new content then on down the line, nerf it all to hell.

There does indeed need to be a wide spectrum of games available for all players and play skill. Fun comes in different forms for many. The issue for myself (and mmo buds) is that we enjoy extremely hard content that requires great group cooperation. This is frustrating because of the great lack of these sort of games on the market. It is either pvp (because the developer gave up on making pve games hard) or a very fews games not truly within the genre we want.

Swtor isn't the game to offer us this challenge and I simply identify that for our personal interests that may not reflect upon the interests of the majority of others. I also played Swtor for it's story. One just gets tired of the game and I won't go back unless friends do. I in fact don't play mmos solo anymore period. Friends draw me in or nothing. This is why I am desperate to play an old school-like newer mmo with the challenge they once offered. Still waiting however.

I like how the companions are now. Before they died so easy. Like other have said i play for the story. I don't spacebar the game like most of the hardcore vet.players do with everything. Some of these people complaining about everything have already done the new content on the first day. Some of them are saying they did it in 15 minutes. Why do they even play mmo's.

Can somebody please kill my character. I somehow got glitched in a rock and can not fast travel and i am out of range of enemy to kill me. The game kind of broke skyrim style on me.

Kind of like EQ2 and the linear curve thing. Every expansion adds a new level of linear so they adjust the lower content to adjust the new content. Once you get into the new content things get a little bit more difficult for awhile until you get the new linear gear which makes old content a faceroll.

If you havent played since the patch, things have cahnged A LOT.
