Like others have said, Other is missing from the poll. So is 'Grinding mind-numbing repetitive, meaningless tasks' for the OCD crowd.
But of the choices listed, I am closest to the social type.
No there is nothing missing from this poll...........
maybe the phrasing from the poll could be a bit more clear, but for those that havent seen it yet.... these 4 choices are refference to the types of players we have in MMO's, a bit elloborated.... Explorer, Social, KIller, Archiever... the only problem was explorer, because the ESKA dates back to a time when Quests and story werent really part of MMO's it was just a whole braod wide world to explore, But then what is QUests and story? I think i explore them all the time, discovering new facts about the world.
Just trying to identify what of these 4 parts people deem most important in MMO's
The ESKA model are only the most common type of players, not the complete list of types. A large number of players are full ESKA types. I've always thought of myself as a mix of SAE, probably in that order. But it doesn't cover people who like to investigate the game mechanics / systems, which is an occasional drive of mine. (I like to try to understand how the game works, and what rationale the developers used for the design decisions). It all depends on the game.
If the poll allowed for multiple choices (check boxes), then it would be a lot closer to a balanced poll. But I think that kind of poll is beyond the capabilities of the new site/editor.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I play MMOs (and any game) for the gameplay and IP. For example, I play Marvel Heroes because that is the ONLY game (not counting MUA1 & 2 which are ancient games) out there that I can play marvel characters in action combat gameplay.
I generally find myself bored with life. I feel like I mentally move much faster than everyone else and don't particular feel attachment to what other people think is important. I enjoy MMOs because it gives me something to look forward to and experience, rather than the dull greyness of Real Life.
Should Full Immersion VRMMORPS come about, I'd probably be the textbook case of VR addiction.
At least until they come about a way to edit your personality so I can actually be interested in the things I dismiss.
I would have to add that I am enamored of character creation. I enjoy bragging rights in armor/weapons/clothes. I want to see what other people came up with in a character. I want to see how they dressed and styled it. If I get to know them I want to see if they bothered to come up with a personality for their character.
I'm that weirdo that sends people a /whisper saying, "Your hair looks simply marvelous, darling!"

I want to know whats the most important of these 4 choices, offcourse there are more reasons, but we are talking about MMOs, and i am pretty much sure there is at least one reason among these 4 that someone playing MMO's likes... Most people however will have severall or all of them on their list why they play MMo's
this is a poll where you have to choose, and it pretty much shows how diverse the MMO community is..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
