At first i was like "What! 60 bucks for overwatch" Then i saw the packs, saw that i can actually just get the base game with no skins for 40, so thats nice, and then i realized. This is actually the kind of shooter i want. Non-f2p, so no BS, no low quality, and a deep FPS system.
I think this games got my 40 bucks.

I'm not sure if I'll buy it or not.  I might play Paladins instead.  I guess it depends on when they're released.

I also just may stick with SMITE and Black Desert.

$40 is actually a lot for a kind of game that's traditionally f2p.  Especially since there's a cash shop in addition to it.

I'm kind of burned out on Blizzard and their price gouging after playing Hearthstone for the past year.  Yes they're quality games but there's other quality games that cost much less or nothing at all.

That is the same gimmick Blizzard uses in HOTS and Hearthstone, they figure you will all spend money in addition to it's worth.

BTW it most certainly is low quality, that is typically how Blizzard makes their games.Go look at Epic Games upcoming title, there is more polygons in the character and weapon than an entire OW map.

60 bucks for an entire game is ok in my books, that is about the right price, but with a cash shop that price will always go up and up.They figure the average gamer will buy everything eventually making them rich.

How many maps for Overwatch?Do you get any tools for community work, example run your own servers, create your own skins, your own mods,no of course not,it is Blizzard, second rate game design and ripping off their customers.

I think the reality is they might add in the tools you expect but this was a rush job, everyday is thousands possibly millions of dollars, thanks to you the people who support a half finished game. They did the same thing with WOw they added in lots LATER,the game was 1/2 the game EQ2 was on release.

Guess what,2 years later i am still waiting for multiplayer in Hearthstone. There is no pressure put on Blizzard ot deliver anymore,i think they even see how easy people throw their money at them. After being suckered into Hearthstone and al;ready investing way more than the game deserves,i will not be supporting anymore Blizzard nonsense.

For pc the pricing seems to high indeed for this type of game..

however, i guess consoles will make up for that...

This is exactly how games used to be sold. Gamers have fallen so far in such a short amount of time accepting the corrupted marketing thrown at them.

Tradition means something has been handed down or accepted for a long duration. Games even for pc have been sold with a cost up front far longer than the f2p model has been around.

Selling at a cost with zero follow up to play is the tradition. F2p is the recent model and even those whining about money tend to pay more over time in f2p models than paying up front.

Blizzard makes quality games because they budget far higher than other companies to make games. Their development time is also longer on average. This is the direct reason why they charge more. You can't complain about it and say they produce higher quality games at the same time. Hearthstone is a card collecting game which exist for the one reason only: to constantly force players to continually pay for new cards. This is the same model for Magic the Gathering and should not be a surprise to anyone. If is the model that heavily influenced the f2p model for video gaming.

Pay models only exist because players accept them. Complaining about it then continuing to support it is on you ... not the company.

    You stay sassy!

I just love how they implemented the 4 character roles in overwatch, making it an mmo like team effort...   A true trinnity in a shooter...

to bad there is no character advancement and customisation...

I'm glad you understand that paying for someone else's work is still okay.   There seems to be allot of people around these days that think software is made by elf's in a magic workshop, therefore it has no value.

After playing Overwatch, my hype meter is at "meh."  My style of FPS is Battlefield 4 with squads and objectives, etc., so it may not just be my cup of tea.

Your still getting a real cheap game.Back in the day nobody took CS serious,it was just a mod that tons of kids were playing because there were about 300 cheats for it.How many maps does CS have, how versatile are the weapons? To me it is just a cheap pew pew.

really good fps pvp needs really good maps designed for it and versatile weapons to allow various strategies such as short ,medium, long range.

What i see usually is some developer just says "hey we need a fps to add to our Esport regimen" ok let's do it,but in reality they have no clue what they are doing.,

    Its just like Diablo 3.

60$ for the game , 50$ for expansion.

When F2P game like Path of Exile is without any argument far superior and has ton of more content.

Blizzard is in my opinion in cashing the check phase. They had excellent run, created lot of fans - but they obviously feel they can not keep up anymore. The competition is fierce (as them selves admit) and they are the first to be targets of copying.

They have also made very risky investment ( 6 billion dollars for Candy Crush ) that is twice more money than UK as country makes in a year.

So they have to bring the money back somehow.

Their MOBA is good but its not as profitable as competition. WoW is slowly fading.
And Overwatch , its only success will be on merits of its house name/brand.

Personally I think Overwatch looks really well made and could be alot of fun.  However, even a $40 price tag seems too excessive when similar games are either f2p or have a pve type game mode to play in addition to the basic fps.

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/1292/Battleborn.html is what I was referring too. True, those games may be played for the multiplayer, they at least offer more than just the multiplayer though. So, $40 is a pretty poor value imo

I don't see Overwatch being good enough for me to spend 40$ for it.

First of it don't seem to have a whole lot of content not story wise either (at least not anything new), I also found out that it was supposed to have been another game to begin with but that failed and they made Overwatch, I just have a hard time getting behind it since to story of it is so... "cheap".

Would I have tried it if it was F2P yeah no doubt, but I see no reason to play Overwatch over Paladin, Paladin seem a lot better in my opinion and I can play it for free, and if I enjoy it I can then spend money on it....

Bliz don't have the hold on me like they did back in the day when they brought out WoW.

Fair enough. I value time spent playing a game having fun. Not the kind of modes that said game gives me. I paid for TF2 when it was released years back and I put over 600 hours into it. I think an online only game that someone who likes that said genre paying $40 or even $60 is well worth the money just as a person who spends the same amount of money on a game that offers only single player may enjoy the game for only single player. Not really any different imo
I bought the Orange Box quite some time ago as well.  I think I spent $60 (maybe it was less, I really don't recall) and still play TF2 a bit.  Whatever the price was, it also came with Half Life 2 and Portal as well which were both fun also.
