Is there any other games similur to the sims 3?

I was wondering if thers another company that has or is making a game similar to the sims 3. I can't seem to get myself to give sims 4 a chance because they removed the semmless open world.
I got to wondering because another game that I like another company made it much better which is cities skylines, which is alot better than sim city.
So has any other company tried to bring back the sims like it used to be but with more advanced AI and better graphics?

Have you tried heavily modding TS3? Because it can become a very different and expanded game by doing so. Modding TS3 is a huge topic, as I'd bet you probably already are aware. But just in case you aren't, I would suggest starting here:
