Non-Violent Outerspace Sci-Fi Game

AdultGamerAdultGamer Member UncommonPosts: 18
Me iz bored.  Me look for Outerspace Sci-Fi Exploration Game.

All I find is Outerspace Sci-Fi Games that are only Conquest & Warfare Gameplay.

I was a Pre-Schooler when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on Luna.  I grew up with the USA and the USSR as Cold War Political & Military Enemies; and, the threat of the USA, and/or the USSR, pushing The Big Red Button in a panic over some Military/Political Conflict between the USA and the USSR.  At the same time, the USA Astronauts and the USSR Cosmonauts viewed each other as Peaceful Colleagues on Earth and in Outerspace.

Even if, the USA's push for putting Humans on Luna in the 1970s was motivated by the USA Politicians wanting to maintain Military Superiority over the USSR, the 1960s & 1970s & 1980s Outerspace Exploration Activities didn't require a Militarized Outerspace Environment.

Even now in 2015, the Outerspace Environment doesn't need militarization.

Yes...Iran is supporting the Real Life Jihadist Terrorist Groups.  Yes...Iran is seeking to become a Nuclear Power.  Yes...to date, no Earth Nation has become an Outerspace Power without first becoming a Nuclear Power in possession of Nuclear Weapons.

But, that doesn't mean there can't be an Outerspace Exploration Game System that doesn't feature Outerspace Warfare and/or a Militarized Outerspace Setting.

Buzz Aldrin has been pushing for a Manned Mission to Mars since the 1980s.  His ideas for Mars Exploration & Colonization doesn't involve Space Fighters and Space War Cruisers and Outerspace Energy Weapons and Outerspace Missile Weapons.

Come on.  !!! WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE CREATE A QUALITY OUTERSPACE SCI-FI GAME SYSTEM THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE WARFARE TECHNOLOGY !!!

Sorry, but, Tetris isn't an Outerspace Game System; even though, it featured an Outerspace Sci-Fi Storyline between each Game Scene.

You mean one where you collect rocks, look for signs that there was water perhaps millions of years ago and the prepare a special report to announce your findings. Maybe one where you send a probe to a distant world where you will fly through some water jets that burst into the atmosphere but you don't have the actual tools on board to test for life,  so you will have to wait for the next round of budget funding so you can send up another probe ...

I tease. But it also has some truth in it. I was two when I saw the moon landing as an fyi.

Kerbal space program comes to mind.  Don't let the cute little characters fool you, This game will test you.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Indeed, I have over 2k hours in Kerbal Space Program. Never quite find a lack of things to do. Also, it is soon to be moved over to Unity 5 and 64 bit. Multiplayer in the far future. I highly recommend it.

?What is wrong with an Exploration Game System in which one does look at Rocks and Plants and Algae and Animals?

?Why can't an Outerspace Sci-Fi Game System with Resource Gathering and Material Refinement and Item Crafting be about creating Spacecraft like the Apollo CSM/LM and the International Space Station and Manned & Robotic Interplanetary Spacecraft?

Wing Commander: Privateer was an Outerspace Sci-Fi Game System that allowed Players to engage in Merchantile Trading; but, in order to be successful and enter New Areas, one had to engage in Outerspace Combat; and, upgrade one's Spacecraft for Combat.

?Why not create an Outerspace Game System that features Merchantile Trading without Combat Gameplay Mechanics?

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords feature Custom Spaceship Design Mechanics for the purpose of the Player building Combat Spacecraft Designs based on New Sciences & Technologies acquired; and, for creating New Spaceship Designs to counter Enemy Spaceship Forces.

?Why not create an Outerspace Game System that feature the exploration of Spacecraft Sciences & Technologies that has nothing to do with Outerspace Warfare Technology?

Colonizing Luna & Mars requires all kinds of Sciences & Technologies; and, none of them require Military Technology like Weaponized Lasers and Weaponized Missiles.  Establishing Colonies on other Celestial Bodies do require Merchantile Activities like that in Wing Commander: Privateer; but, without the Combat in Wing Commander: Privateer.

USA Political Leaders and USA Corporate Leaders are complaining about the USA Civilian Populace is no longer competitive with other First World Nations on Earth in the fields of Mathematics and Science.  This can be remedied with Video Games that do feature Real Life, and/or realistic, Science & Technology Issues such as an Outerspace Exploration Game System that doesn't feature Military Warfare or Personal Combat.

Now now, I was mostly teasing. Perhaps you didn't catch that the examples I gave are actually from the JPL missions?

However, I don't see a game being made that is about collecting rocks and algae unless it's an indy game. Maybe something along the scope of "Papers please" which is low budget but from all I've read, a great game.

    LOL

    ?JPL = Jet Propulsion Laboratories?

?The recent NASA Discovery of Water on Mars in the form of mudslides created by condensation?

?NASA's constant battle for USA Governmental Financial Support versus the USA Governmental Financial Support for the USA's Military Forces?

    LOL

?Have you heard of the "FLOWER CHILD PROJECT Manned Spacecraft Design Concept"?

The "FLOWER CHILD PROJECT Manned Spacecraft Concept" is a Real Life Manned Spaceflight Proposal that is about The Future Of Manned Spaceflight and The Colonization & Commercialization Of Luna & Mars; and, was conceived by a USA Civilian who has no Astrophysics, and no Spacecraft Engineering, Knowledge or Skills.

The "FLOWER CHILD PROJECT Manned Spacecraft Design Concept" doesn't take into consideration the fact that Real Life Earth Human Societies are inherently hostile; thus, it is possible that The Real Life Colonization & Commercialization Of Luna & Mars would involve The Militarization Of Outerspace & Luna & Mars.  Thus, the "FLOWER CHILD PROJECT Manned Spacecraft Design Concept" doesn't feature Military Spacecraft Design Concepts.

Of course, if there were to be Real Life Outerspace Combat; then, the Earth's Orbital Environment would become so cluttered that Earth Humans won't be able to send any Manned, or Unmanned, Spacecraft into Outerspace; thus, Earth Humans would be stranded on Earth as if no Spaceflight Science & Technology has ever been created.

    Bye-Bye...Internet...GPS...Satellite TV Service...Cloud Technology...iPhones & iPads...

no more Skype...no more FACEBOOK...no more MMOGs...

You would rather be jumping bicycles pretending to be Evil Kenivel than be interested in Harrison Schmitt discovering evidence of Vocanic Activity on the Earth's moon.

You have zero interest in such issues.

    so...whatever

But space is, in itself, awfully violent.  You have bitterly cold temperatures in most of it, punctuated by vaporizingly hot areas.  It's so enormous that you'll never get where you're going before running out of fuel unless where you're going is almost exactly where you started.  It's basically an unlivable vacuum for most purposes, unless you try to move fast enough to travel through it at a reasonable speed, in which case, the handful of particles you crash into destroy you in a hurry.

That's why no one can live there without special life-support stuff.  There might be a lot of life on a lot of planets scattered across the universe.  Or there might not.  But within outer space itself?  Rather less chance.

Which is why Outerspace Combat Issues is irrelevant to Real Life Spaceflight Issues.

    "!!! EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL ALIENS ARE ATTACKING EARTH !!!"
"!!! EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL ALIENS WANT TO EAT EARTH HUMANS !!!"
"!!! EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL ALIENS WANT TO CONTROL EARTH HUMANS !!!"
"!!! EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL ALIENS WANT TO EXTERMINATE EARTH HUMANS !!!"

That is so ludicrous, and irrelevant, to Real Life Outerspace Issues.

?So...Why is the Multi-Media (Movies & TV Shows & Video Games) dominated by Outerspace Warfare Issues?

um, relax Francis, can't take a little joke?

edit: in any case I just checked out Xeno.Phon's suggestion of Kerbal space program and though it's a little cute, it seems like a good game and right up your alley.

I've played KSPl and Planet Explorers. Kerbil is a good game, very complex, you need a good grasp of basic physics to enjoy it... I have lost many a Kerbil to my screw ups. Plane E was still basic last time I played, it felt lacking but it's still EA so it may improve.

Never mind. The ultimate goal of the thread already revealed.

The Goal isn't to promote Buzz Aldrin's SPACE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Game System.

The Goal is to find a Non-Violent Outerspace Game System.

I just happened to come across SPACE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT very recently; which, was after I had created this Topic Thread.

Not what I am looking for in an Outerspace Game System; because, this game is about Outerspace Warfare.
