Since most people find questing to be boring, mmo developers should either revamp the entire questing system or make leveling process super quick. Like 20 hours to reach max level so atleast the tedium is kept to a minimum. I don't mind killing 10 of each mobs for no reason like a zombie as long i reach max level super quick.

They should separate three very different things.

One is "available work." That should provide a reward for some work-like task, such as killing 10 goblins, collecting 12 pine cones, etc. That kind of thing should never have been called a quest in the first place. There are no tales that begin "Sir Galahad set out on a quest to collect 9 ladybugs in a jar."

Two is a "quest." That should have a story, be challenging, have multiple steps, and so on. Obviously the reward it offers should be greater.

Three is a "bounty," where you have to track down some bad guy or creature and kill it for a reward.

If they would stop globbing these things together, the quality of quests would improve, imo.
Or just focus on one of the three.

D3, at end game, ONLY has bounty, and it works for millions of fans. Sure it is not for everyone, but Blizz did the bounty thing (with different rewards, game mode and so on) well.

    MMO should learn from that.

D3 also has a "quest" (story mode) too, but that is a small part of the game.

I think one of the reasons why MMOs are struggling is because no one has figured out a better questing system.....The LoTRO/WoW/EQ2 questathons have worn alot of us out......Really I want a game with little or no questing and alot more exploring.

I like the premise of GW2's dynamic events but I would also have liked some of the old style questing i.e. go on a journey for someone to achieve something (optional rather than part of the story).

For me, variety is the spice and whilst the WoW quests are the reason to want to get to endgame because they are so tedious, mixing it up a bit would have been the preferred option, along with any new (ok, I know I'm dreaming) ideas that devs might have come up with in the past 10 years.
