T3Fun Hellgate Closing 31 Dec 15

RateroRatero Member UncommonPosts: 440
I would have posted this in the Hellgate forum but apparently I can not do so.

I just found this on the T3Fun site:

Greetings,

It is with great sadness that we would like to inform everyone that the Hellgate Global Server will be ceasing its operations.

Servers will be up until december 31, 2015.

In-game Cashshop will be disabled starting October 7,2015 and will not be accessible anymore ;

Further information regarding TCOIN related inquiries will be announced at a later date.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the understanding and support that everyone gave us from the start up to now.

Sincerely,
Hellgate Team

Hellgate was a balls-up from the day it was released.  Still, at least it gave rise to the saying "all aboard the failboat".  :D  Strangely, I still have a box of Hellgate: London hanging around somewhere or other!  I haven't seen it in years though.

When I bought Hellgate: London from the store, when I tried to activate my account the key was already used. Never bothered with it again.

The original Hellgate wasn't all bad. It was basically like Diablo II, and there was no good ARPG around. The game was fine (not outstanding or anything, but it was fun enough), it was just handled badly, like Tabula Rasa and some others.  It would probably work as F2P if it would be released today. The follow up versions never came off the ground though, and where handled even worse.

I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

So will people be able to keep playing this offline? had the game when it came out but that has been a while and the cds are no where to be found.

How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?

I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
