Live and learn I guess. Dont make a game one way and then change it into a different game 2 or 3 times and expect people to stay around.

It is too bad, I am sure they put a lot of work into the game, but it doesnt matter when you are shoving a diff game on your players every year. They should have just kept it as it was in CBT, it was great then and they changed it for no reason that I could tell.

I think Firefall will survive. If you haven't tried PTS, it is worth try. Once everything is in place it will plant its roots and grow.

My prediction is FF will grow and succeed, just not as fast as i hoped.

I thought it was pretty fun back in "beta" - I played it a good bit there for a few months. It's changed a lot since Mark Kern left, I haven't played it much since then to compare the differences.

It hit a lot of the right buttons for me anyway, at least as a non-PVP player. In small doses, the big public events were fun, thumping was fun, there were a few solo quests to do that weren't just "questhub on rails". It really was only missing "Group" content and having someplace to go that was off that one map of New Eden - I hear some of that got fixed, maybe I'll go patch up and poke around now that someone has reminded me it exists.

A shame really and I feel for all those who lost their jobs and hope they can find new employment soon. Game had so much potential, but potential doesn't sell anymore. Thank you Founders Packs/Early Access!

UPDATE 11/24: We've gotten word and a small statement from Red 5 Studios now. It seems the game is still in development and that the layoffs are likely due to no longer needing the staff that pushed to get the China version of Firefall out the door. We've inquired for further comment, but I suspect the below is about all we'll get from the studio itself for now. The PS4 version continues to be developed.

"The organization optimization was due to our strategy modification, which includes empowering the support to the operation in various global markets and the upcoming PS4 project. Doing so requires specific skill sets and experiences. Red 5 will continue its commitment to developing AAA games and bringing the best game experience to its audiences.

We appreciate your inquiry and interest in Red 5 Studios and Firefall as we take it worldwide on multiple platforms."

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Dead game, it has like community of 100 people. I remember back in the days we were like 3-5k players. I have maxed all the frames (classes) and done all the available content. Absolutly in love with some stuff that the game offers like for example the sandboxy thumping, but the developers are really slow or i don't know but literally no work is being done. I havent played FF and Warframe in a year but the difference between the 2 games for this 1 year is as big as the difference between Earth and Uranus. From what i saw when i logged recently in FF after 1 year absence is new zone that has nothing but random repeatative events and 2 instances while Warframe has revamped added and done so much more work. Just example.
Shame, because i think the potential FF has is quite obvious. They really lost and ruined this game.

So I guess this means this person is saying The9 fucked it all up?

I don't buy that... I lay most of the blame directly at the feet of their interum president after Kern left, and 2 of their lead designers who went by the name "Syrstorm" & "Snowcrash". Every time I confronted them about their horrible decisions that objectively made the game less fun in every possible way -- their paraphrased responses amounted to: "we hear you, but we're not Listening"

They rebuilt the game to DEATH several times over before any of the shareholder companies even had a chance to sabotage them

I'll play it and pay for it on PS4 if they get a version out to it. Just much more convenient for me at the moment.
