GUILD SYSTEMS

Aight, I haven't played too many MMORPGs (2..heh), but I've been wondering what peoples' opinions are on the different guild systems out there, or rather, I wanted to inquire if you guys had different ideas on how to structure them.

In AC it was basically the more apprentices you had (can't remember the correct name) the more xp that was kicked up to you through a percentage of the xp that they made.

I rather enjoyed this system although it had some probs (ex: xp chains, xp hores, etc...).  I'd like to see something like this in a mobster type mmorpg where all the lower level thugs have to kick money up to the head boss- but that's a different post.  As I said I haven't played to many others, so I'm not really sure how other guild systems work.  Just looking for opinions and ideas.

Well AC/AC2 have always been proud of their guild system aka monarchy/vassals.

This generally is a good idea for most MMO games.

In EQ, guilds works in the simplest form - you join up and have a channel to speak. However EQ is probably the one game that the guild you are in is critical to the rest of your gaming.

EQ has numerous zones that are raid only and the better loot/gear only comes from mobs that need a raid size force and lots of team work. Most high end quest or epics also require raid force.

So the stronger the guild the more of the game you see .There is no added experience in it but like i said though simple form of guilds its critical to get into a good one.

DAoC- again simple in form but in DAoC while your gear really has nothing to do with your progress/gear it helps in the PvP part thus in a good guild you can get a lot of realm points and your guild gets to have their logo flying on keeps.

UO- never was in a guild never saw the use of it .Made little sense to join one in it for the most parts apart from social interaction ,no idea how it is now.

AO- i only played the first few months of launch again saw no reason to join one so never did.

SWG- only purpose i seen so far is to build loads of houses next to each other and thus make a so called player run city .I am in one as a crafter and we have a huge settlement atm looks cool.

i liked daoc's guild system alot. where u set privelages for each rank. im not sure how many other games have something like that, but its definitely more open, choosing how players get promoted anyway.
