Star Citizen dividing gamer's!

BrenicsBrenics Member RarePosts: 1,939
I still laugh at how the people that love SC and CR will protect him and his game and the unreasonable style of never knowing when to say that's enough now lets build it. For example he starts making the game says 20m to make but then his eye's widen when he starts to see even more money coming in. So he says wow we can do this and this and this, so the original game is now poof gone.

Then it starts a war and unfriendly discussions between skeptics and fanboy's. Granted the skeptics just see the whole thing now as a way to scam money from people and can see no actual game. The fanboy's see the greatest developer/idea man ever born. Then you throw in a few gaming sites that start hyping the game or in my reality non-game. Of course it starts getting out of control so the skeptics are attacked in any shape or form the fanboy's can because it may in long run hurt the cash flow coming in to make the game.

Us skeptics do worry that this will destroy or in the least set back crowdfunding in the future. Unless of course the game is actually released and all the hype for it was accurate. But then you have to look to the past and as gamer's start looking at past games and the hype we always gave them and in my estimate maybe only 30% or possibly a little more succeed. At this time SC still only looks like a pipe dream that may or may not happen. Given to CR's past and unless someone steps up and rein's in CR and get's through to him it is time to look realistically at what can and can't be done and just make the darn game. To both us skeptics and fanboy's we all have to look at the percentage of the reality of this game actually being made and released.

Personally I do understand why they keep needing to sell pictures of ships. In my experience with gaming they will need to double if not triple the money they have already made to actually get to the end and release a real game.  The fanboy's are accurate that it may need another 2 years or possibly more to get to the end. Thing is the skeptics are also right when they say it will never release for the simple fact the money will not be there in the end.

Time will tell which group will be right and which will be wrong. But I guess it is time for both sides to take a break and wait it out. But also I think the fan sites us gamer's love also need to step back and stop the hype train of SC and also the advertising (which does cause a lot of arguments, warning's and bans). Another words let CIG site do their fund raising and allow things to go where they will lead. As far as advertising, if CIG wants to pay this or any other site to run an ad for fund raising that's great but make them pay for it because after all us gamer's skeptics or fanboys want our gaming sites to keep running.

Sad part this post will more than likely get attacked and certain people may even try and get it locked. Not like we haven't seen that happen in the past! Also I wish to clarify I would love to play the game CR envisioned, but the original idea. Once he get's that released then let him add to the game with money he pulls in from his released game. Plus one poster stated I never say I was wrong, well to that poster I say let CR actually release a game! Not one aspect of the game but a full release of the game. Then I will say I was wrong. But as of right now I and many others just do not see a real game here.

One last thing I want to clarify, CR does not need to release a full game with every idea he has for it. But just the original idea would be fine and I believe could be realistic to do.

Hope this doesn't start another skeptic fanboy war, but just gives us both a time to rest and relax and just watch were the game development goes.

Cmon, you wrote an inflammatory post and practically invited them to do so, you got what you wanted.

There's really only two classes of gamers, those who contributed to it and have a vested interest vs everyone else who follow along for the entertainment value.

You do come across as obsessive in pointing out the failures (or potential ones) in SC as any fanboi who defends it.

Is there nothing you like about this title and want to discuss?

If you didn't want people to attack the post you mighta wanted to write it with a neutral tone.

I have to agree with Kyleran on this one.

I'm all for pulling a "Hey! Wait a minute!" when i see something that doesn't look right. But threads like this.........

Well, I think back to a Meme that was created several years ago by a guy here that went by "DarkPony" during the GW2 development cycle. He had a little flash meme that showed this kind of thing as hitting a hornet's nest with a stick.....IT was quite humorous and pretty much describes this.

    @Brenics ;

Also, starting your thread with a blatant falsehood that you then build your arguements around just illustrates how weak the argument is to begin with.

--> the unreasonable style of never knowing when to say that's enough now lets build it. <-- This comment in particular.
You don't have to like the way they are raising funds, and likely don't, but when it's been roughly a year since stretch goals were added and we have seen reports of game progress it tells us they said enough was enough and are in fact making a game.

As far as the complaints about continued fund raising, this just baffles me. They are a business. You start a business to make money. Sure they wanted to make a game and probably love doing so. While it is great to love what you do for a living they didn't start a charity. Business exists to make money. That is how it works. There is no mystery to it. They are continuing to accrue funds to assure the continued viability of their livelihoods.

Say what you want. SC is being made and will be released when it's done. I haven't bought a "picture" of a ship. It is sitting in my hangar(also not a picture) where I can actually go in it and realise the work that went into creating it. I'm also playing on the PTU where the gameworld so far is also not a "picture".

You say this as if this isn't what you wanted or as if you haven't been a good little DS fanboy doing the same to fans of the game that you claim they do to you "skeptics"...lol

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Move this to Star Citizen Forum where it belongs. The fact its not there from the beginning says a lot about the motives of the OP.

    Thanks for the post @Brenics ;

See, it does't really matter what your opinion is. It's the good versus evil, the war of two sides, which motivates people. As long as posts keep coming out and are allowed to run, it will ultimately attract people to put their money into the game. It went from dropping below $1 million in funding per month back in July up to over $5 million this month, after a steady up-turn thanks to all the publicity.

When I logged on today I didn't see much in the way of SC posts. I was starting to worry that I might actually have to do some work to think up some fresh SC posts. You make my job a whole lot easier. Thanks.

Its not about Star Citizen to Brenics anymore, its about proving that he the Great Brenics is right and that this game is vaporware just as he proclaimed and Chris Roberts is a thief just as he accused him of being. All logic points to the contrary but logic is not going to stop him.
None of the rumors about Chris Roberts or Star Citizen have been verified and some of them  like the one Brenics posted about their office being shut down have proved false. I have yet to see Brenics even admit he was wrong and when more proof of the game being further developed with their alpha 2.0 came out all he could say was its buggy not even a well maybe this game is not vaporware just more attacks.
All I see is a guy who is unreasonable in his hate for this game and cannot stand that he is slowly being proven false. I bet you in years to come when this game does release he is going to change his stance from this game was vaporware and Chris Roberts is a thief to this game is not as good as promised(in peoples over hyped unrealistic imaginations it never will be as good) and Chris Roberts is a thief.
In my opinion this game will be a good game but not as good as many of the fans believe its going to be. The space combat for one looks mediocre right now and they haven't shown much about one of the two things that could make this game great; exploration and economic systems. I guess if those are amazing and combat is tweaked this game could be great but I have my doubts. Then again their videos often surpass my expectations so maybe they will pull it off. Only time will tell I guess.

Look at that.... Must be a day again.... Because we have another one of these threads.

if i could get a dollar for each one of them i´d be able to buy some fancy snacks for this weekend to celebrate that i survived another week.

Beyond that i found nothing to say on the subject that has not been said way to many times.

So i will just cap it off with....

Dammmmmmm those SC ships look good, say what you want about the studio but they can make some pretty as funk 3d models.

This have been a good conversation

Remember that time when Devs used to work in their basements, had a full time job to throw money in to their project without begging for cash?   Yeah, it's been that long ago.  Star Citizen is a joke, 100mil+ thrown in to it. With a "load of employees" and they got nothing to show for it besides more stretch goals, oh and a stupid anniversary over nothing?   Again, I've said this about 10 times in under a week, with Elite: Dangerous new expansion coming out in a few weeks, SC will be even more of a joke since E:D didn't even have 5% of the crowd funding of SC, and the're already expanding the game to a point of why even bother supporting SC anymore?  It's a major RED FLAG when SC has more going in to their item mall than the stupid game itself. Wake up people!

Personally, i think this title is bringing gamers together. Heck, i've almost thrown money at this game without any intention of playing it. Mostly due to threads like these.

It's great marketing, really. Nice work @Brenics !

    Here's a newsflash:

If the game is GOOD it will be a success and people will play it.
If the game is BAD it will fail and people will not play it.

There is no more "divide" on this game than any other.

Personally I dont like the whole Kickstarter deal and think Star Citizen is a joke.  I also feel if a Fanboy thinks this is the greatest thing since sliced bread to come around, they have a right to spend their money on supporting this game.  If it fails like I feel it will then it will show the problem with Kickstarters.  If it is more successful than a single player space sim, I mean the game becomes a REAL MMO in space then I basically look like a fool.  Both sides have their rights.  I think the Fanboys will agree to that at least.

Actually, that isn't true at all. Frontiers went IPO shortly after they completed their KS funding, and their current market cap is over $80 million, meaning that they've raised a significant amount of money themselves. Don't fool yourself into thinking that they developed ED on a few million bucks.
