Bethesda is ready to take its Elder Scrolls Online #MillionReasonsToPlay campaign to the next, and quite literal, level with the commencement of a sweepstakes with one lucky player taking home a million dollars. Beginning today, players can sign up at the special micro-site and simply play the game during the sweepstakes period that runs from December 3rd through January 10th. The lucky winner will be announced on February 1, 2016.

If you can make a good game people want to play, might as well just BUY a playerbase I guess. The fuck...

Alot of games have money incentives to play them. There's no reason for a game that's actually doing okay to do it too. Basically they get back the population who either forgot about the game, or are super into competitions to come try it again. It's a good way to suck people in if the game is different from when they played it last.

I agree but a million bucks sure seems enticing.I am always skeptical though,i trust nobody nor do i trust they will actually  give away a million bucks. But who knows maybe they will,a million is like a lottery ticket but you have to compete versus far fewer numbers than in a real lottery.

I am simply not lucky at being lucky,i am a low rng player,so this would not entice me.None the less one lucky beeotch will sure be happy in a short time.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

A lot of new people will also buy the game in a hurry when they see that contest. Regardless of how slim their chances of winning actually are. xD

Then again... they're probably better than winning at the lottery, since you only have a few million competitors at best, rather than... well, many more millions than that!

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

What in the world man.  I live in the only state where the contest isn't valid.  Way to go florida and all your messed up governing.
Are you onto something or just on something?

Chances of winning the lottery are fixed/static and based on number combination possibilities. Your odds of winning are the same if every person in the world plays or you are the only ticket holder.

Odds of winning the ESO drawing are probably still much better though ;) Someone is guaranteed to win the ESO sweeps, unlike the lottery. And that someone could be you!

I don't usually enter sweepstakes because I don't like to give out my name and email and get added to more lists, but since I'm already on their lists, entering this one was a no-brainer for me.

yeah NZ isnt allowed to enter this contest either... :( time for some sadface...

Sounds to me that we will get an "active" player count for december to prove how much more popular the game is since it went F2P....

Kind of sucks it is 50k per year for 20 years...after taxes in the US like 30k a year.

Not just that, the Europe side is pretty odd too

#...and (c) be a legal resident of: (i) one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (excluding residents of Florida, New York, Rhode Island, the territories and military installations), (ii) Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, (iii) Finland, (iv) France, (v) Germany, (vi) Mexico, (vii) Norway, (viii) Russia, (ix) Switzerland, or (x) the United Kingdom. "

Can't figure it out... countries within the EU? Nope. Population number? Nope (no Spain or Italy, and Switzerland is fairly small) Maybe Euro-using countries for the easier transfer? Nope. They all have "n" in the name? Nope. (though, Russia is actually RussiaN FederatioN, so....)
Maybe they just took 7 darts, threw it onto a Europe map, and listed the countries they hit

(for the record, I'm not affected personally, still have my box unopened and don't plan to play at all. I'm just curious about the solution, love the puzzles  : )

Pretty sad that you couldn't even give me a million dollars to go back to this awful theme park MMO, it was that bad.

I have never not been able to enter a contest like this in the state of Florida, wtf lol. And to be honest, while this game was a turd not too long ago, it really is fun now and has improved so much. Not enough to make it my main MMO, but enough to have fun playing it casually.

No different than any other prize or lottery sweepstakes. Quit your bitchin. It's still probably more than you make.

And what exactly is 1mil for them? They probably make more than 1mil daily.

Shit like this damages the game, it doesnt help it. Try charging less for your game to get more users, not overcharging them, hoarding money and throwing it out there to entice new members.
