So the new trailer for FF7 remake just released but did you like the direction they went with for the combat or are you disappointed?

I would have preferred original but improved upon , hopefully they will add some dlc that gives you some turn based boss fights that would keep me happy maybe on an arcade machine in golden saucer or something

I'm fine with whatever really. I like KH combat enough that I'm happy to see something like it here.
I would have been fine with turn based combat too.
It is not really make or break for me.

Doesnt matter, like both system as long as its well done.
If its turn based id prefer more fluid battles than the 5minutes summon animation we had before though.

I'm semi-OK with the XV style that it looks to be using. I dunno, patched XV was alright, but still had many flaws. Too much of it is dictated by stats. Way too much of it was automated. It's that weird in-between where they're not too sure what they want it to be. You can manual dodge, but you can also hold that auto-dodge button. You chose weapons, but they mostly only swap depending on the situation, range, mob health, so you're really just pressing the square button. The Armiger, which is probably based off of Cloud's Omnislash in Advent Children, is once again a "hold attack button and win" kinda thing.

But maybe they found that sweet balance. Who knows? Maybe we won't just cruise through the game, alternating between holding the attack and dodge buttons.

The original combat system was really the highlight of the game for me. Id rather leave it untouched. Its the rest of the game i could do without ;)

Makes me think this remake isn't for the fans. But for the twitch kiddies. Probably hoping to pull in fresh faced people like the original FF7 did for the series. Amazing how many people hadn't heard of or even played a FF game until 7.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

I was so hyped for this game when i see the announcement I'm not going to lie I got choked watching it but after seeing the combat I'm totally disappointed, I cant see square ever recovering from this I think its hit the nail in the coffin for many of its long time fans , its a shame they couldn't do what was asked , it was us oldies that wanted the remake and got it remade by public demand something I never thought would come true but they seem to think turn based isn't enjoyable and that new players wouldn't find it fun, i don't think new players understand exactly what turn based is its not just standing there  and taking turns its much more deeper than that its very tactical and takes some degree of  ingenuity. some bosses on ff7 were faceroll once you knew how to destroy them with the right set up i had many wipes trying figure them out and once them bosses went down it was awesome, but now its just gonna be a hack n slash over in 2 mins bore fest to appease the i want it now crowd. If its anything like the previous ones  in the last decade.

If they could atleast add some turn based boss fights as a thankyou to its fans i would be satisfied with that, is  that too much to ask?

Let's give it a chance first before rolling Aerith around in her grave.

    Yeah spoilers that chick dies.

Anyways, I would prefer them to do turn based but I haven't played any of the new FF so I'm willing to give it a shot I suppose.

It really depends on if its a change for the better. Action combat can be good. Just haven't seen good action combat in a FF game before. Usually the camera kills it for me. For me, the best combat system in a FF game was FF10 which was turn based.

I played FF7 before, so I am not looking to repeat several hundred hours of gameplay. A fresh gameplay with the same story in updated graphics would be nice for me.

The combat looks like Final Fantasy 15 which I like

They can't claim it's a remake when they give it crappy FF13 inspired combat. Was a terrible decision in which this poll greatly reflects.

i like my turn based combat, remaking it and changing the combat just feels week, almost as bad of an idea as allowing jumping in Bionic Commando 2

the missing link in a chain of destruction.

All spelling and typographical errors are based soely on the fact that i just dont care. If you must point out my lack of atention to detail, please do it with a smile.

The combat looks nothing like Final Fantasy 13.  This is Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy 15 style combat.

he doesn't have to, he has a cool grappling hook arm to swing around on instead of dumb ole jumping like every one else

Just shows how dumb you are. The combat is nothing like FF13, it's almost a direct copy of Kingdom Hearts combat.

they are releasing the game in "chapters" .....poor FFVII cow.....is going to be milked to death (like it wasnt already  with spin offs , movie and whatnot)

Its simple as it is: FF7 remake has the same code implemented like ff15. You can see the crouching and moving side walls. The thing that made FF7 combat so great was the Materia System- wich they never could implement with that style of combat. Its a messy fuking shet.

I've heard a rumour you can't even change weapons so you get buster sword n that's it if that's true then this game will suck hard

I'll play the PC version with the mod that updates all the graphics if I want a remastered version with the same stuff.  This is a remake, so I expect them to modernize the entirety of the game.  That said, it could be a modern turn based and I wouldn't mind; I enjoy turn based games.  But ultimately I'm good with whatever they envision and are passionate about to improve the chances of a good game when it's fully released.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

If you want the original turn based I don't understand why people just don't play the original.
