Gaming piracy

Warning - taboo subject ahead!

I'm not here to post links or share exploits. I'm mostly interested in hearing other gamers and developers takes on piracy - the good and the bad. We have to admit, it exists. Too many boards and places though, ban the topic, as if ignoring the purple elephant in the room will make it go away.

Now, by piracy I mean, "obtaining" a game and using that copy to play it at will. This does not include hacking or exploiting an MMO or console emulators.

I'll figure there are two major categories we can talk about with this:

AAA Titles

These are the "big boys" released by major studios and publishers like EA, Eidos, Rockstar, etc. They also usually have some advanced copy protection built in, so things get complicated when trying to pirate.

Indie Titles

The not-so-big games that are usually readily available and not so well protected. This could be anything from a casual game, to a complicated one like 7 Days to Die.

There's a third, smaller category of the in between games. The one studio that comes to mind is 777, releasing Rise of Flight and the IL-2 series. High budget style games, with a lower overhead and advertising.

I have certain feelings about each of these, but wanted to hear other gamer's opinions first.

Remember - NO LINK SHARING or PIRACY TUTORIALS. I'm just here to talk about the philosophy and psychology of piracy, not the "how to's" of it.

Sorry this site won't even read this, they will simply see the title and say "not allowed",they will use no common sense in their verdict, just see a title and respond so i can't participate in your thread, again sorry.
