I have played in all the CBT's and I have really enjoyed BnS so far (I don't PVP). Yes the questing can be a bit slow and boring but the combat makes up for that. It's very smooth and it's feels rewarding when you pull off a set of combos when you solo a boss. So for me the combat is worth the time to play.

As far as catering to both PVE n PVP we all know how that ends up. I have found that peeps that PVP normally don't play PVE.... there always seems to be a divide between the 2. It's rare to find someone the plays both equally. It also seems that when the devs concentrate on one the other suffers so I hope that the devs at BnS can balance them without the other suffering.

As far as the art style goes I really like it, it's a beautiful world although some of the textures are lacking in a lot of places but you really have to stop and look at the to see it.

So TWO predetermined factions to choose from for open-world PvP? Um... no thanks :)

ME BIG BOI ME KILL OTHER PPL ME STRONK!

Get a grip and try to respect other folk. You are not in any way better than the others, in fact you are worse with that stupid attitude.

And if you are "joking" (convenient retreat route, don't you think?), that is not funny and please stop.

Because of your attitude new players don't touch the PvP because they think how stupid all PVPers are... And that is hard to disagree when reading something like the comment above.

My criticism was that predetermined factions for PvP suck. Open world PvP should be just open world PvP where you can bring your own "faction" (guild, alliance, w/e) and kill anyone _you_ decide is the opposition.

I have been playing BnS for years, so I hope my input will be valuable to some who want to give the game a try.
-The PvE, in this beta, is indeed really weak. The game is way easier than years ago, and we have a patch that is 3 years old. It has been said that on release we will have more PvE content (pohwaran 4-6-24man dungeons), and patchs will follow quite fast to eventually be the same as in Asia within ~a year.
-The PvP is definitely the core of the game, even if the PvE is deeper in Asian versions.
*As mentioned, you can fight Faction versus Faction (Red vs Blue) every where, meaning you can PvP when.you.want. OP asked about the real purpose of the faction quests, no there is no "territory holding" but you can definitely make the enemies' life hell by killing their NPC, preventing to do their quests, because yes there is a purpose of doing Faction quest, mainly farming pvp gear. So pve lovers won't hate the system cause won't care about those quests anyway, and pvp lovers will find a really challenging way of farming pvp gear, because you need to be good and organized if you want a better gear. By Organized I mean calling other faction members via the dedicated channel, pick up some passersby, ask your friends/guildmates etc.
*Another way of doing open world pvp is by wearing any other dobok (pvp uniform) of other in game faction. Nearly every NPC in the game has a faction, and of course there are rival factions. While this system is less popular than conventional Red vs Blue, it can be really fun to organise PvP with your friends/guildmates/other guild saying : ok I wear this Uniform, wear the rival one, let's spar together.
*The main star of the game would be the 1v1 arena (and 3v3 to a lesser extent). BnS E-sport becoming strong these years, it definitely sparks interest and challenge for PvP lovers with thirst for fame. There will be internal NA/EU tournaments, but also World cup with other countries (Korea, japan, China, Taiwan), making the challenge real. We already organize weekly tournaments (Imperial Tournament), and it is becoming more and more popular, the level of the Western players already really interesting, as shown when they were sparring vs Jaesung (3rd place in the laster WC).

To sum it up : PvE wise, don't let this article convince you to not give the game a try, because it will become far more overwhelming soon as the patchs are released. PvP wise, this game offers the most challenging and skillful experience in arena, while still being friendly and intense in Open world.
Well said.  When people say, "If you don't like ____ then don't play this game!"  I can see the devs saying, "Good job chasing potential customers away!"  I pve mostly but have played games like Eve, L2, and Aion for years before I really liked the world, quests and/or combat mechanics, so it was worth it for me.  If someone had said if you like pve only don't play those games then I would have missed out on a lot of fun.  Best advice, give it a try then decide.

well I do agree on that statement kinda like how they did on TERA, it should be like that and it should be like AION as well where its comepletely free for all, always flagged for pvp so people cant just stand and watch.
