STO is a great game that has all the star trek elements that i love. starship combat and good stories. the new additions to the star trek lore are very awesome.
Have been a huge fan of Trek since the 70s. STO lets me continue the journey I started all those years ago, at my own pace.
No other sci fi I know paints a brighter future for mankind.
Star Trek is an awesome experience that provides entertainment for both an individual or a group of friends, with an ever expanding list of things to do while still making you feel like you're making progress, all wrapped up in an awesome Star Trek like presentation.
STO is unique in my experience. It has time and again let me feel like an actual Starfleet captain. Doing as all those previous have done...boldly going where no man has gone before. It isn't always perfect and sometimes it's horribly infuriating but it continues to draw me back in. I always find myself back in my captain's chair, something no other mmo can say.
I used to hate this, but since I've gotten to know it better and there's more options in how to play it. I have to say I love STO because of the ground combat (there I said it, now tell me I'm wrong). Though space combat in a decked out sci ship is pretty cool too.
Easy to answer, Star Trek has been my favorite TV show trough my entire life, no matter what has happened it has been one of few constants trough it, so naturally an Star Trek inspired game in which we can be a part of that universe, commanding a ship of our own means to me as much as the show...simply put, it gives me the Star Trek experience and I love it for it!
The original Star Trek showed us a world of cooperation and (mostly) peaceful exploration, where problems were solved with thought, not violence. And while STO has sacrificed the non-violence part for gameplay reasons, the ships and the characters still remind me of the golden days.
I really love the interesting people I meet through the game. Not to mention it's fun and a nice continuation of the prime universe, oh and.. Space Barbie.
I've been playing since beta but playing a game that long can get tedious. Now i mainly play because of the great community. Fleets are a great way to meet new people and some i've stayed friends with even after they've moved on to other things.
I really love star trek online. There is always something to do. If you aren't saving the galaxy in the latest blockbuster feature episode, you are battling to defend an adventure zone, exploring strange new (foundry) worlds or leading a 5 man team into some deadly elite multiplayer queue. The is even room for goofy fun like the winter event with the outrageous q. Space combat is of course, unmatched by other games IMO. There is something for everyone in this game, whether a star trek fan or a just a gamer.
