    Never heard of the website, and even upon looking at the individuals reasons it felt either forced or completely without a base to compare from. The thing that stood out was the mods mentioned they didn't have a best MMO of 2014 so this vote overall was forced to say the least.The community being happy comment really made me chuckle, a quick look at the OF or the games official reddit threads and it doesn't take long to find what you are looking for. A lot more hostility and frustration have surfaced with the coming of patch 3.15 and the consensus is people feel duped.

    A lot of long time players and post HW players are finally done waiting and are asking where the content is. With the combination of utter boredom that is Diadem and the new Relic weapon drops in 3.15 the game is being called "A grind reborn" and it looks like Thordin got 4 solid weeks before his drops are pointless (unless you are into vanity of course).

    I'm sure I'm a terrible person for having different views than you, and "I don't play the game so I have no input". That being said I really don't need to offer any as there are plenty of current players doing so:

    Makes sense to me, nothing this year has compared to Heavensward.  While they didn't do a great job of following up Heavensward, given the light competition this year that's hardly a deal breaker.
  • monochrome19monochrome19 Member UncommonPosts: 723
    Yeah, I agree with Rere. 2015 was not a good year for MMOs, so its not surprising that FFXIV won. It has a lot of new content and compared to most games its a lot better.

    Heavensward was great, no doubt. However, it's kinda of a clear winner in a year of ... Well ... Not much.

    Reddit is for trolls. we have millions, yes, millions who use the OF forums and only 50k that use reddit.

    So yeah, most who are on reddit have no sub, hence why they can't post on the OF. Also reddit is known for being a troll station as well.

    By the way, people already have their Anima weapon: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/275963-Apparently-someone-in-the-JPN-servers-has-completed-their-Animus-relic%21

    Took them 3 day's of grinding. That means i'll have mine before the next patch.

    Remember, your listening to cry babies. Your reading the titles and nothing else. I know because if you actually read any of them you would know that everybody else is telling the op to stop whining.

    I counted 6 posts on the OF about this. Now I see stuff like this that is real positive: http://http//forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/275841-My-Most-Efficient-Least-Tedious-Method-for-Grinding-Phase-3-of-Anima-Relic

    But, you wouldent know any of this as you don't play and your just listening to kids who get frustrated that they actually have to work at something in a game in a day and age where mmo's(SWTOR) can be solo'd.

    Good troll bro. But using reddit does not work.

    EDIT: I do have to add that Massively OP is a new site. They used to be just Massively, ya' know, owned by Joystick and AoL, till AoL sold them and they became independant.
    Their new site was completely funded by users, hence why they have a "founder" next to their name. Useless information I know but, thought I would trow it out there.

    Actually the poll results matter much more, as they are the actual votes from the players. Also Massively was often critical and negative towards ESO in the past, so they are pretty biased. It's a big surprise seeing ESO winning on a site that has so much hate for ESO. Says a lot about ZOS and the things they've done this year to improve the game.

    Best MMO of 2015:

    1. The Elder Scrolls Online -> 327 Votes (23%)
    2. Final Fantasy XIV -> 303 Votes (21%)
    3. Guild Wars 2 -> 157 Votes (11%)
    4. Star Wars: The Old Republic -> 125 Votes (9%)
    5. Marvel Heroes -> 99 Votes (7%)

    Hell yeah boyyyyy, ESO is the bomb too. It's my #2 mmo out lo behind FF XIV ARR.

    Either one is a win-win for me.

    Just trying to point out that both are way ahead of the competition at the moment.

    However Massively still put ESO barely on the #6 spot as the best mmo of 2015, hell even behind Wildstar and WoW lol.

    Yeah they hate ESO for some reason. IDK I think it's a very well done game and makes me nostalgic to play Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion lol.

    lol, I actually said they were biased in one of my post and got a warning lol..... The way they write nothing but glowing articles about some games (GW2, FFXIV) I'm looking at you and nothing but mostly negative about others (ESO, Blade and Soul)

    I mean it's fine it's there opinion but as a news site for gaming you would think they would be a little more down the middle...... Before the comment got deleted all the posters on the disqus jumped all over me because I'm a terrible person for saying they were biased..........

    Well different strokes for different folks, right? My opinion sides with this site when it comes to ESO - I had to force my way through the start instance just to see what the open world looked like...for about 2 min and then done.  My opinion is definitely not in line with this site when it comes to GW2 - it has too many flaws to say much positive about it...it is a game I want to love but Anet always seems to piss me off with their design / marketing decisions.  It is always one step forward, three steps back with them...lol.

    Massively has actually a pretty terrible staff to be honest, completely biased and unprofessional. Last year they didn't want to hand the best MMO of 2014 to ESO, but rather said "nothing" deserved it. One of their staff even wrote this: "...and Elder Scrolls Online, which... oh yeah, that game exists". Believe me when it comes to MMO sites, MMORPG.com is miles ahead of everything.

    Oh and the results from the last year were (by MMOs that launched in 2014):

    1. The Elder Scrolls Online -  21.8%
    2. WildStar -  7.8%
    3. Elite: Dangerous -  7.0%
    4. ArcheAge -  5.7%
    5. Something else - 4.1%

    Respectfully, disagree all sites including this one have their biased opinions. Not to be a jerk but I didn't care for ESO either but I understand why many others do. I really like their articles, the way they have the site set up and a lot of the way they write their articles as well.
    What professional writer on an MMO site would write if a certain MMO still exists? And one of the most popular MMOs today, not just a random one. That's just stupid and arrogant. You won't see that kind of shit from the staff on this site. Honestly Massively staff consists of GW2/FFXIV fans, which not only praise their perfect shinies, but also heavily criticize other MMOs. So yeah I'm glad to see ESO comfortably winning 3 Awards on a site where the staff hates so much on ESO. If anything it will send them quite a message.

    Heavenward was such a disastrous expac, I am a bit surprised.  They lost a lot of players because of it.  This site must have a really low opinion of everything else in the past year.  I guess I do too, but I agreed with mmorpg.com giving mmorpg of the year to ESO for their b2p conversion and good dlc.

    I guess everything up until the expac was good, though. Also, the expac does sound good until you play it yourself and see how it hurt populations, encouraged elitism through vicious dps checks, provided next to no max lvl content for the first few months, further damaged class balance, ruined questing outside of the new msq and made massive zones empty of players and details. I actually was really enjoying the msq and thought quite highly of the expac until I finished the story. Then it became a 2 dungeon lobby simulator.

    Hurt the population? If anything it helped it. And yes, i am playing it. If anything 3.15 brought even more people. All the Heavensward areas are PACKED. And that is a fact.

    Eh, I always thought the staff tries hard to put a rosy spin on any MMO news so I have a hard time thinking of them as biased.

    Now the forum goers, they're biased as hell, I'll give you that.

    3.0 was the start of lazymode in total honesty, I'm not sure they really care that much about this game anymore at all.  Lots of people will quit but enough will stay to keep it profitable with the cash shop they have.

    From what I've seen they are simply cutting back staff (yoshi is always saying they don't have enough staff to do things people suggest now), boosting the cash shop presence and going for a min/max outlook on profits.  They can afford to lose a decent amount of players as long as they cut costs enough, which is exactly what they are doing.

    They are even going to continue updates on xi now, to keep that as a cash cow.  So much for shutting down updates.

    As for that poll, it's already been said but they are just basically a nobody website courting advertising money.

    Your known for being a liar here, can you show proof of anything your saying? Because i'm in game and it's packed. So.....yeah.....also, when, ever, did Yoshi P say he did not have the staff to do anything we want? Because no matter how hard I google it, I can't find anything.

    After Heavensward we get : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQZ1OteE2IU

    But, like you said, they don't care.

    Like DrivenDawn said before, you're trying to hard.

    Well our current polls which has 340 votes is showing GW2 and FF14 tied for first,  with WOW and ESO as close third.  So massively calling ff14 the best isn't a stretch by any means according to our own forum users.

    I can tell you what Yoshi said back in the start...
    He said that they needed at least a year to make the game the  way he wanted but had only i believe was 6 months to restructure/fix whatever.I don't believe it was even 6 months i think they only spent around 3-4 months.

    Personally i saw little change,few small things here and there nothing i saw would say the game changed at all from the original release.

    The game itself is pretty good but also shallow at the same time.For me it takes a huge backseat to FFXI combat and class/job structure .I have no idea what kind of games these new Producer and director and whomever else is in charge of systems played but they are not on the same page as the FFXI team was.

    It looked to me like they went for a WOW approach ,kept the same Avatar fights but should have went open ended and not instanced.Adding the red carpets was to make it easier,also tried to add questing and other ideas to make leveling easier,the whole WOWesque type of design.Then for me the icing on the cake ....Ilevels,the worst possible idea they could  copy.Ilevels are such a cheap lazy design approach i can't believe they stooped so low.

    So, WoW, DCUO, ESO, TERA, Neverwinter, SWG, EQ1&2, Wildstar, Blade and Soul, etc.

    I can name off more that rely on, Gear Score, Item Level, Combat Rating, etc.

    So, why exactly have you not complained when these other games did it. Before FF at that.

     Hmmmm seems like your singling out this game, FF XIV ARR, specifically.

    FF XI is a relic of a game. I can see you love it and despise XIV. Most people like to hate whats new, it's in our nature.

    My opinion on XI:
    Combat was shitty. I mean the worst. No way. That is why no game ever does it that way.
    Character class/job were poorly optimized to hell. Dragoons in that game got known as "loldrg". Seriously?
    The entire menu system is a mess. Poor character design and lifeless worlds. Today, right now, to me, it look's like a ps1 game. No dude. It had it's run and it's done. Be happy the game is even still running.

    I'm just saying, you don't want to make comparisons on XI to XIV ARR. ARR will come out on top. Same with how many players are playing which game.

    So in YOU'RE OPINION ONLY, the game sucks. Got it. Moving on.
