I certainly didn't need a poll nor a discussion about labels to know there would be arguing about such trivial subject matter.
You may not. But given so many responses here, i would say this make the forum much more lively.
If it is so trivial, why would so many people express so many strong views?
Lack of anything else interesting to talk about? Just like those SC threads with the same fanboys/haters going on about a game not yet released. It's not to say people won't discuss or argue such things. It's simply my opinion that it is trivial since everything from movies, music, and even cars will fall into 'categories' or labels and some will debate the validity of their belonging to said category.
No, lol; it's your never ending negative behavior and vampire like need to incessantly suck attention from a bunch of randoms on an internet forum. It got old years ago.
I have to wonder why you would post in my topics though, if that is what you think.
Clearly, it is not negative for everyone. I suppose you don't like people who express opinions that are "negative" to you .. or even just ask a question that others will answer in a way that is "negative" to you.
I never seen so many people fail at reading and understanding a simple poll. @Gardavsshade you didn't read the poll and description then threw up a no answer even though you really wanted to vote yes. Its time you read the first post from the OP and look at what he said. Enough of the statements that clearly invalidate your arguments because you didn't read the description of the poll.

No one (or very few) failed at reading the poll. Only, most also grasped the intent behind the poll by the OP. Nobody is fooled anymore. He's beaten this dead horse for way too long.

nah .. not as long as the rant about FFA pvp or lack of community or lack of death penalty.
If it is not for beating dead horses, there will be a lot less traffic here.
Plus, this particular poll has not been done before. Isn't it fun to see whether people care more about playing a good game, or about the label?
It is a minority of anally retentive individuals who will argue over whether the correct label has been used, but they tend to derail many a thread with their pedantic irrelevancies. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and all that.
filmoret said: That is what polls are for. To help draw conclusions and see exactly how many people fall under certain categories.
And on MMORPG.com, most of the polls are intended to "prove" any given author's favorite talking point.
Neutral language in the polling questions is actually extraordinarily rare.
Some of you have never noticed, I guess? Stop reading the threads.
Yes sometimes polls are meant to prove a point the author is trying to make. As long as the poll is neutral and not something majorly skewed then its perfectly acceptable. I have seen a lot of polls on this site that weren't neutral and the options were ridiculous without any room for voting in a way that disagreed with the OP. This poll ended up being relevantly negligent because of the small amount of players who voted no. It would have been as little as 3% if they voted properly but somehow they didn't. But because it was as high as 10% it really showed something that needed further investigating and understanding. Do you realize that the OP voted yes?
When I see "MMO" (RPG or not) in a game description my brain instantly translates to "might have potential to play with other people... or not". In other words MMO has evolved over the years to just simply mean an online game in my mind. So whether a game says it's an MMO or not has no bearing on whether I want to play it.
I just mainly like and play mmo(rpg)s. If a great mmo came out but was marketed as a shooter i probably would find out about it eventually and play it. People loving shooters might get lured in but would probably leave pretty soon even though the mmo might be very good.
If a great ex. shooter came out and was marketed as an mmo then it might lure me in. But if it hadn't been marketed as an mmo i would never have tried it, and most likely i wouldn't play it for long since i'm mainly playing mmo's.
Different people play different games. Marketing your game as something it's not is bad buissness. You need to market your mmo(rpg) to thoose people that like mmo's, not to the people that like shooters. That only ends up with dissatisfied customers.

If you vote YES - See, people don't care about labels.
If you vote NO - See, there are some very odd people who would still refuse to play a good game just because of the label.
Either way you get to stand on your box preaching to the world just how right you are.
You DON'T care about the result because the question is set up so that no matter how people answer you can claim you are right.
You are just a troll and I would ask people who realise this to keep reporting his threads.

If it looks fun, I'll play it.
Most players wouldn't care less.
