I played SWTOR when they released the new expansion, but haven't yet touched it again because their holidays are crap (mostly just stuff on the store they want you to buy for real money) and the newest chapter doesn't come out till January. This game would have been so much better as a proper RPG without the MMO part.
True enough. But i don't think you need to worry. Most AAA devs don't make mmorpgs anymore.

    EVE ,STO and TSW
Pretty much for me as well, except I wouldn't poke eve with a pole, so instead
LotRO, CO / STO, TSW
These days it's mostly winter festival time, LotRO and TSW are obvious (those are in my "main game" bracket, have great communities, and Frostbluff is fun), however Cryptic is a bit odd this winter, since CO is just a "2nd level" game for me, still, I play it more than STO currently... Maybe because I've played every Winter Wonderland in the last 3-4 years, sometimes added Neverwinter too (ice race rocks  ), but skipped CO since years.

Anyways, I just love to chase Black Harlequin and his mechanized teddy Clarence all around Millennium City, not to mention the misfit toys and the giant toy soldiers in the Finkle Foundry. Also to collect the winter cosmetics and the ice sleigh vehicle. CO has a certain, "cozy" feel, since even with the newcomers for Onslaught and the free slot, the game is nowhere near to STO's numbers, there's only 3-4 zones most times, can't even compare it to the dozens of zones in STO (60-70 or more, peak times). A few weeks and you're familiar with most of your fellow players

TSW is quite fun, I mainly played it just to customize my character in clothes XD. Combat wasn't bad though.

Well, in that case (and if you don't mind the superhero setting) you should definitely give a try to CO - plenty of peeps in-game used to translate the letters as Costumes Online
HL praised it too back then, when he made the MyFirstHour videos (https://youtu.be/MvjW783Ynfk?t=45s )

There are hundreds of cosmetics in-game (for free, and also hundreds in the store), they constantly adding new ones, not long ago they enrolled kaizerin to the Cryptic staff and they are planning to refresh the cosmetic system, players/groups organise costume contests almost every day - and if you're bored with the clothes, there's still the character itself, which could be almost anything beyond human: animals, robots, energy cloud, the Thing from F4  (I mean similar, because there's the copyright thingy)

edit: seriously, there's a whole section on the forum just for costumes   and a great guide for them too: http://forum.arcgames.com/championsonline/discussion/243215/the-general-guide-to-costuming

For an MMORPG, I'd recommend giving ESO a shot with its new DLCs.

If you're willing to sink time into a non-MMORPG, I'm having tons of fun experimenting in the Mechlab with Mechwarrior Online.  The Community Warfare isn't fully fleshed out yet, but the game is leagues better now than it was at release.  And right now there's a holiday event going that can net you free stuff (such as free mech bays with your MC winnings).  I enjoy it.

MMO?  Elite Dangerous (if that counts?), outside of that, Grim Dawn since their last patch, OceanHorn, and of course Orcs must Die 2.   B)   Along with some Cities Skylines when I want to kick back and solve some traffic problems.  ;)

Sorry if my post doesn't contain any MMORPGs, because let's face it, the genre is kind of crappy at the moment... Let me rephrase that, the genre isn't what it used to be.  :)

    Vendetta Online

I'm also having fun browsing through the Steam holiday sale, and working through my Steam library backlog.

WoW mainly to play with my friends and Tank for the guild. Then ESO. Thought about expanding to TOR as well but I am loving ESO right now and I just don't have time to expand my rotation. Because I am also working of some single player games too.

Been hooked on Lotro again. I l like the Christmas season on this game and have been leveling my Minstrel up. Been playing this game since beta, and never got a character to level cap. So thought I would finally just do it lol.

GW2: HOT but I am not sure it is what you are looking for. Raiding is pretty new in the game (but it is really hard on the plus side), otherwise is HOTs endgame mainly the hunt for mastery points and skins and mainly in the open world with a little instanced playing in fractals.

I decided to crack open a classic. Lately I've been playing UO Forever while getting excited for new releases such as Albion, Crowfall, or Das Tal.

I'm really thinking about trying the Final Fantasy MMO.
FFXIV is above average in pretty much every respect.  Even it's flaws are above average.  Though you pretty much always have something to do, especially with the large amount of story content available at present.  It's a game you need to dedicate yourself to if you want to be good at it, as it doesn't like handing stuff to you on a silver platter.  The grind is also above average as part of the core feature of being able to level every class (crafting and gathering are also considered classes with their own gear and storyline and mechanics) on a single character, with you being able to cross class specific class actions to be used with other classes once you learn abilities.  This also translates into having to gear up each class individually, which increases the core grind aspect.

Once leveled, a great deal of classes are fast paced with natural 30% haste buffs, speed buffs from leveling and gear and a half dozen or more off the gdc attacks and procs that you weave into the integrated combo system.

The biggest pro it has going are the frequent and meaty content updates every three months on average (and frequent .5 updates every 1.5 months that typically have more content than full WoW updates).  In addition to a relatively nice community (each random dungeon typically has people who say hello) and a system whereby dungeons are always a threat to new players due to it always scaling (which prevents the DPS from pulling -- a pet peeve of mine from other games).  My personal flaws are the Housing system (not enough to go around and slow to put in more land; they're talking about an apartment system next, and you can get an apartment if your guild has a house presently) and inventory management once you do have every class and craft maxed.  It's also the only game that I personally view is worth the mandatory monthly fee at the moment.

FFXI is also soloable now from what I hear.  With you able to recruit NPC party members.  Though from what I remember you have to do research on macros to be able to fight in that game due to a horrible UI system.

    Deals on FFXIV:

There's a Square humble bundle going on right now with FFXIV included.  So it's one of the best times to pick it up.  If you're fast, you might even catch the FFXI event in game and get some unique clothing.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Reason I didn't spend $ on FFXIV for me was simple. It had one of the worst launches, which is essential for longevity in content dependent "themepark" games as this. Also it was just another WOW clone copy that came with terrible PvP.

The expansion also took forever and yea its too casual to warrant a sub. Was released in 2010, now we are entering in 2016. It's just a matter of time before Square does with it what Blizzard did with WOW, which is abandon ship and use the revenue to invest in other projects, other markets.

OhhPaigey, I'm sure you'll enjoy FFXIV, it's one of the better options available. I don't "invest" in a subpar copy...and that's exactly what Square did from WOW. FFXIV could've been a completely whole, different experience....

I am also currently looking for a game. Right now I am leaning FFXIV because it has most the things I like. Perhaps SWTOR though, for story and housing. I am bored of WOW. There doesn't seem to be any other BIG MMOs out right now or on the horizon.

I finally bought the expansion for GW2 and have been playing non stop for the last few days. Im very happy with the huge new maps and all the new features, specially fortifying allies camps during the day to help fight stronger invasions during night time. Im glad an mmo is taking notes from games like Dragons Dogma where night time encounters are more dangerous and varied than day time encounters. Thats all im playing on PC, also waiting for Legion to be released.

Do you have to be max level to get there? Isn't that 80 levels or whatever?
