What do you mean by "game". The game as promised, or whatever game or that could classified by some people as a "game" instead what is actually is today: a glorified tech demo?

As the poll was tricky, I voted in Have Fun.

Seeing as they are developing a game, good chance there will be one.

Arena commander and PTU are games. It might not be the Star Citizen that people crowdfunded but they are still games.

It will be a game, but not the game people are hyped for. There will be a lot of disappointed backers at release.

There will be a game- but with broken and false promises <3

LOL, the game has been live since the very first item was sold... that IS the game!

    Have fun!

doubt it, most likely fans will celebrate what ever comes out of this, and those who dont like it will get "pushed off as haters".

Fact is people seems satisfied already, atleast on this site.

but I guess the most correct answer in this pole indeed is....have fun!

Yes there will be a game,100% guarantee it.
However Chris has left a black mark on this kind of game crowd funding that will last a lifetime. He has basically exploited gamer's for far more money than he deserves.
One of the questions brought up by a media firm after the Escapist ordeal raised a question about Chris misusing funds for other ventures ,like trips, vacations, renting luxurious homes for his wife while she travels on her movie career.

    Here comes the good part.....
He went on to brag about he was RICH made a lot of money from past ventures like selling a business or two.
Well here is  my question,if he has so much money, why did no he not use his own money to fund this game instead of exploiting naive gamer's?

Remember he was pitching to media and gamer's that this was a definite great game,he would make it,if he was sooooooooooo confident in his ability and the game why did he not fund it himself?I mean that would be the ultimate way of backing up your words with proof right, but nope instead it looks to me like he did not have confidence in himself or he simply just sought out to exploit naive gamer's.

Who knows, I'm not invested in the game, not emotionally nor economically.

However, after all is said and done, I do hope they've managed to make a great game. We need great games, nuff said really.

Anyone that still thinks SC is "vaporware" at this point needs professional help, lol

I'll pitch in once Squadron 42 launches, and I'll happily play the MMO version once it's ready (whenever that may be).

Yup a game will come out of this but I doubt it will be anything close to what the hype train is promising. I predict the hype train will slam into reality station at light speed and there will be many pissed off backers including those that have invested hundreds or thousands of dollars

There most definitely will be a half assed single player game and an mmorpg that dissapoints everyone and crashes shortly after.
  • muffins89muffins89 Member UncommonPosts: 1,585
there's a game (or will be).  but how much it appeals to the masses so it's not considered a colossal failure remains to be seen.
  • TalonsinTalonsin Member EpicPosts: 3,619
They already have a game that backers can play.  It does qualify as a game.  Maybe not the game as advertised or stable or ready for release but they do have a game already available.

This poll is a little late. CR changed the TOS that says there is a game which means no more refunds. You guys tend to forget that part don't you!

Bolded, I think you misclicked and meant to say yes, as you specifically stated there will be a game.  Your text and your vote contradict each other. The OP didn't say whether it would be good or not, just whether there would be.

I think there will be a game, not one i'm particularly interested in playing but I think there will be a game.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

After reading and largely believing The Escapist article I was under the impression that almost all the money had been spent and there was nothing to show for it.  Then I see this alpha 2.0 video all of which shouldn't have been possible if things were in as bad a state as had been alleged.  While clearly the game still needs a lot of work I think the time has passed where anyone can credibly say there is no game or that there is nothing to show for the money.

There has been no proof offered that anyone has misappropriated funds. We have some vague statements by Derpy Sharts and an Escapist article that claims to have inside info which is impossible to verify due to 'anonymous sources' bullshit and that has had no follow up since it was posted.

CR has used some of his own money to fund development. He bankrolled the orginal pitch demo. Also, he's never said he was rich. He said he's well off from past business ventures. That doesn't necessarily mean that he's got millions in the bank, just that he's not living on ramen noodles.

I don't get where people keep describing him as this arrogant asshole. All evidence points to him being a pretty decent dude.
