https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/27962-Road-to-Release/?postID=298054#post298054Big news today regarding the extension of closed Beta and a ton of content changes and additions. Im glad to see the changes made. Kind of sucks it will extend the beta but I'd rather them spend the time making the game better than to release and fix it along the way.
If you guys are in closed beta hit me up for a guild invite. Or if you haven't played yet. Check it out.

How much will the game be at release?
I am very skeptical it will work as intended, the design has many non Sanbox mechanics. Which is odd to me.
We will see eventually, but I am not willing to pay to find out now/
I will wait for it to relea\se or wait for some Free Beta Key to try it.

I prefer just playing solo recently.
I am a sandbox type player.
My problem is that the Game while advertised as a Sanbox is not really one with all the progression and gear tiers and conditions and the way the economy is set up on rarirty. All this is elements for a game like Lineage II...Grind, Time sinks, and for Gold Sellers.
This is where I am having huge concerns with Albion. They have a following but it seems their following is mostly Themepark type players and as rresult the influence to the design caters to that. But at the same time it strives to be a Sandbox game with Open ended gameplay.
But Themepark type Progression and Economy does not match an Open ended PvP oriented gameplay. History has proven this from other games which made the same mistake and perished .. the most recent example to my memory is ArcheAge...it simply does not work...
And Albion seems to be setup the same way. "Lawless lands", sounds like the North Islands/Continent of ArcheAge only the Guilds with the most $$$$ will be there
To some it may sound like EVE but it is not like EVE...because in EvE at least you can get all your materials to make your armada in "safe" lands. And you do not have to produce Silver or pay real money to get gold to convert to silver. (of course Eve is a P2P game, which is another topic alltogether, are F2P games suitable for Empire Building and Open Ended PvP oeriented games?)
Getting money (credits) in EVE is relativelly easy. Which makes it so that players can afford to lose gear in PvP over and over again in Huge battles.
You cannot have an economy based on Rarity and a PvP cerntic game. Tried tested and failed.
And then they have this Progression system to limit the time it takes a player to progress and pace it, with repetition grind, and of cource expenses, since at one point I hear your gear costs silver to upgrade to make etc. Nah..not something that I look forward to as a game experience...for a what is supposed to be a Sandbox game anyways.
Cheers!
