sick of WoW clones because they have become too mainstream?  and/or  just,  too streamlined?

when I first started playing World of Warcraft,   which wasn't until about 2009.  it still had weapon stats.  like,  equip a sword and use it so many times till you get to lvl 100 with it.

it also had languages.  and if you went to an enemy or even  a different races territory there would be gibberish in chat.

im sure there a quite a few more nuances the game had that don't exist anymore.  a lot of people call it "the dumbing down of WoW".  but,  is it really a dumbing down?  or just developers getting lazy?

recent games don't offer those little nuances that made me really really really like playing WoW.  maybe that's why I am uninterested now.  people just don't take the time.

anyhow,

a rant

Since WOW removed some of these mechanics we can say they "streamlined" it.

Other Devs may now choose to avoid the mechanics entirely as they are not desired by the mass market.

Just adding slightly more detailed systems wouldn't have helped any WoW clone I've ever played.

The funny thing about WoW and it's copycat clones, is they all pursued the eaiser methods of game play.  What I haven't seen is a fresh perspective on the mechanics and systems from Vanilla and TBC WoW.

Yeah, maybe this is just nostalgia, but I don't know. I think I'd actually be interested in a new game that plays out like Vanilla WoW. Anything before WoW 2.3.
