Trion has not "dealt" with bots or hackers. That is a flat out lie. They may have mitigated the more obvious ones but it's still pretty rampant. Cut it out.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
I how love condescending you were about players who enjoy cosmetic items. As if everyone who does (which is most) just sits there all day playing with outfits for months on end and nothing else. I fail to see what's wrong with making our toons look how we want them to in a game lol.
Well it's just odd that you would pay extra money to improve a character's looks. Maybe for items of power or extra efficiency or convenience, all very logical.
But looks? Just no.
And this is WHY, P2W exists. The people who demand that the cash shop be full with cosmetic items, have no intentions of buying cosmetic items. Any statements to the contrary are just lies. Less than 1% of cosmetic items are purchased by gamers involved in PvP or Raids in most games.
What do PvP and Raiders buy? P2W. That's what they want to buy, so that's what is sold to them. It's called demand and supply. The only people complaining about P2W, are the people not spending any money. Until they spend money, they can just STFU. By money I mean like $100 per month for 3+ years like the people who are paying for them to Play 4 Free.
They are being forced to spend $100 a month, not by greedy companies. But by thieving Play4free gamers. Next time they use the words Nickel and Dime, how about paying for their own game time.
I read comments like, "This game is gated, it's not fun when we play for free." Guess what, it's not meant to be fun when you Play4free. F2P gives the opportunity to see if the games runs on your system. Is the leveling system, classes, crafting, and traveling OK. If not, and you don't want to pay for it, then your are expected to move on.
Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.

Deluded much? BD is B2P2W so your entire post is invalid since there are no free players.
Forced to spend 100 a month? LOL
They make games F2P because they are not worth paying a monthly fee for in most cases, especially when they offer inferior content to 5 dollar games on steam sales and the entire point is to make a short term profit since after a few months power balance is so completely out of control that most people just leave.
Whales are not acting out of some sort of altruistic feeling towards the developer, they simply want to feed a psychological need to feel powerful and have the status that comes with being king of the hill in a virtual world.

Alot games that do cosmetic are really bad and lazy making more and good amount cosmetic items. Like they'll make a maid outfit then forget the tux along side for people that more option then just a maid outfit. Not only outfits weapons too.
Cosmetic can sell but having 1 or 2 there every 6 months to sell is not a good way to get people to spend if the cosmetic item is crap in the first place.

I for one think that Konfess is sort of right. "The people who demand that the cash shop be full with cosmetic items, have no intentions of buying cosmetic items", the statement is probably dead on, none of my friends who says this actually buys anything off the cash shops :P. However, spending $100 per month might be too extreme, 15 to 25 $ per month should be a good range.
Removing the P2W/P2G features that are directly correlated with RMT is an option, wait... excuse me, I forgot we're talking about Archeage/Trion here.
Also people are still using speed hacks, stealth ignore hacks, and other stuff in PVP.
What good is fixing these things anyway when Trion wasn't proactive about about the effects of the cheats? The cheating effected the makeup of servers from head start. They effected every signinficant patch of Archeage with no reprise. The only people who get punished now are those who are trying to catch up to the original exploiters who got away with it already.

This has been going on for over a decade. It's no wonder so many players feel compelled to cheat early on. It's actually worth it in a lot of situations. I may hate it but it is what it is.

No that is not an option because those "pay2win" items are not in game, they are cash shop exclusive and without them people will never reach even divine quality gear. Unless XLGames decide to put all of these items into game as crafted items removing them from cash shop will have no effect.
Yes people are using bots and hacks and getting banned, then creating another f2p account and coming back to do what they were doing. Such is the pain of a f2p game.
Trion did their best to mitigate any and all effect of cheating that effected the game heavily, like taking away lands and farms then perma banning accounts, taking away duped credits from APEX and perma banning account, removing gameguard and replace it with their own security system. But botting and hacking still exists even in billion $ game like WoW, Trion is a super small scale company and even their flagship game Rift is a super niche, not to mention the others. Number of people using cheat program or exploiting is very very small. If you claim that there are thousands of players are doing such thing and not getting banned then you are delusional.
And you are clearly defending cheaters and botters in your last sentence. It is shameful. But for your information, there is no catching up to exploiters since they are totally gone, lands and farms are in hands of legit players who are playing every single day, who are running trade packs with their guild fleet, who are actively participating in pvp battles and raids.
All of your points belong in a trash can of september 2014. They are no longer valid. Trion spent shit load of money flying in the xlgames devs to change up stuff in games to improve security and gameplay experience. Show me another company that does it, there are several other company that import korean and chinese mmorpg but none of them ever bothered to do what Trion does for their players who play their imported games. Your agenda is misguided and you need help from professionals if you are so upset about a game company not bending to your whims.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
It won't be P2W like AA not because I have some magical belief that publishers don't want money but more so based on what changes have occurred in KR/RU, specifically. Sounds like the publisher, based on closed betas, is very willing to modify to the needs of the community.
Trion straight up ignored everyone. But I guess we'll see in the end.
Need more modify to the game still someone pointed out the pearls in the cash shop after seeing their packs there going be pearl to trade in for gold use gold to buy high level gear but don't know if how much that will come to play the gear that is, only people who are testing out endgame on KR just know about this more.
You can't "trade pearls for gold" you can buy a costume item in the korean version / russian version and then sell that on the AH. That is people's "argument" that it is pay2win. People need to still go out and earn the money they are using to buy the costume items from players, and also if they buy items from the AH using it someone had to earn the item. They are not selling "power". And i'd rather see this system than locking costumes and not being able to gift one to a friend etc.

But looks? Just no.
ArenaNet has made a business out of B2P games with (mostly) cosmetic stuff on the cash shop. You'd be surprised how many people are willing to spend some money to make their character look like they want. I'm one of them. I've purchased probably 50+ € worth cosmetic items from GW2 cash shop, and about 20€ worth from ESO cash shop.
The only way I see BDO not becoming Archeage is if the majority learned thier lesson from Archeage and goes for the 'wait and see' approach, as in, wait 3-6 months before you invest in the game, on top of moaning on official forums regulary warning the devs that P2W will not be tolerated.
Chances of that happening though, especially the 'wait and see' approach I put on very slim to none. MMOs nowadays give a clear advantage to early starters, and making an esential feature limited ( real estate) like Archeage pretty much guarantees you a stampede of players come launch.
As for 'there's not much hacking going on' statement , hackers wait for launch before they start full on exploits and you can't say for a fact that russian servers aren't infested with people replicating items like APEXes in Archeage, if they are being smart about it. Remember it took 2-3 months to discover that particular cheat in Archeage and it only got revealed because some players in the know couldn't keep their mouth shut but regardless if few players made a massive amount of ingame currency through hacking or wallet warrioring the fact is they took full advantage of a system that allows you to play in god mode and troll/gank/grief/controll a full server.
You're aware if everyone does that you'd have a flop out of the gate... That would be completely and utterly asinine.
1. The coding is solid. Hacking/exploiting is not super easy like it was in Archeage. The people that got the furthest ahead in Archeage did it through exploits, not money.
2. There will not be any items in the AH that increase your chance of upgrading gear.
3. There is no level cap so you can just level up past people that spend tons of cash and beat them, even if their gear is better than yours.
Furthermore they are reviewing the cash shop. People are talking about it a lot so there's a decent chance it gets changed even further away from p2w.
1. There are many 3Rd party exploits(Russian servers have a major issue with speed and jumphack) for BD already, can't link them here due to rules of conduct of this site. BD is no better than any MMO, all of which are subject to hacks.
2. We don't known yet how it will end up in the west, korean AH has such items, but then again Koreans have a completely different attitude towards cash shops. They see them as a normal part of gameplay, they know that if you spend more you gain more.
3. False - gear trumps levels
1. Speed and jump hacks don't get you free Apex and housing or instant trade-pack turn-ins.
Archeage was an exploitfest beyond any other and its the reason the game failed, not because of it's cash-shop.
So far I've seen nothing coming close to the hacks and exploits that plagued Archeage and continue to plague it.
2. We know for a fact there will not be items to increase the odds of upgrade because they announced it recently specifically. They also said they're further reviewing the cash shop.
3. Even if gear is better, the fact is you can progress in-game in ways that people that just pay cash cannot is anti-pay-to-win.
And I'd need to see proof that someone in bought gear at level 50 could easily beat a level 59 with earned gear. I really doubt it.
In any case, all 3 of these things are significantly different (and better) than Archeage, and give hope that the game will not be Archeage 2.0.
I will only talk about 1st point : no AA is no longer plagued by bots or hackers. That has been rectified quite some time ago by Trion when they dumped gameguard and added their own server side security. Of course there are still some bots that pop up here and there but they get banned fast and then they come back with another f2p account. Please don't comment on a game you don't play and have no idea what is going on in it.
Too little too late on dealing with the bots. They should have dealt with the problem when it cropped up instead of letting it run rampant and ruin the servers.

Now the lands are in the hands of legit players but yes he will still not be able to find any plots but he can still buy them if he asks or maybe someone will agree to share with him. And also nobody promised him a plot where he likes for being a sub/patron, patron pass allows him to make houses and gardens and farms, patron pass do not claim to handover plots for housing or farming. Talk about entitlement. If your friend wants guaranteed house and such, tell him to play Rift or SWTOR or EQ2 or LOTRO or even WoW.

If not, and you don't want to pay for it, then your are expected to move on.
The people who pay loads of cash so they can steamroll people who pays less surely don't complain, no. But you kinda sounds like everyone who doesn't think that money spent should be more important then player skill is a cheapskate.
The reason I don't play games like that is not because I can't afford to but because I don't see how that is fun.
I don't mind paying a monthly fee in a MMO but when you connect the sum a player pay with how powerful their characters are it takes away any reason for me to play the game. It takes skill and luck to get gear in none P2win MMOs at least.
But I wont move on since I wont move in at all. And I am far from the only one but don't complain on games that sells balanced stuff like Tera and GW2. I stay in games like that and you can pay whatever you want for in game advantages. And BTW, I don't care if the game sells a big combat advantage for 10 cents or $25K because it is the principle of things. I actually bought gems in GW2 now and then to support the game so it isn't that I am against paying for stuff in game as such but a combat advantage and it just isn't a game for me.
Bankslots, bagspace, character slots and so on are fine, I don't care if your character can carry tons of gear but when the game sells actual gear it is different. Getting gear is usually the main point in the games and if I bought the best gear in a game I would tire the next day anyways.
But as I said, I don't really mind that some games are pay2win, I just wont play them. But I do have notice that pay2win games tend to earn a lot the first month only to drop fast and turn into small niche games, like Allods and Arche age.
Was not a knock on the game, just a statement. He quit for the stated reason (you can take from that what you will). If they wanted his business, they would have added more cool locations for housing. They did not, so he left.
The code of the pessimistic loner: "We unpopular loners are realists, who follow the three non- popular principles: Not having any (Hope), Not making any (Gaps in your heart); And not giving into (Sweet talk)".
Which means, starts with only cosmetic stuff in the cash shop until people are hooked, then gradualy apply the P2W.
AA started out with an extreme p2w model in the West and a requirement to sub in order to enjoy all the features in the game, there was nothing "gradual" about it and the set up is quite a bit different to BDO.
I probably would not play a game that only had PVE in it. One of the reasons I stopped playing ffxiv was that it had very lackluster PVP.
These games are online, and the purest form of online player interaction is PVP. It would be foolish not to include it in your MMORPG.
I really like what I see so far from this game's pvp. There is no stunlocking-1shotting like it Archeage or like old Rogue in WoW. Fights seem to take a long time which allows for more skill and counterplay, and also lessens the impact of P2W.
There are also pretty heavy restrictions on ganking random people, although with the introduction of the "ganker town", it also allows for some role-playing opportunities for people that want to play evil characters.
"WoW is how old and still they have botters and sped hackers and a lot more, Trion takes 1 year to minimize the botting and cheating in a game they imported and not to mention an f2p game where anyone can create an account and start playing, it is considered "too little, too late"? Amusing."
The straw that broke the camel's back for me with Archeage was finding out Apex dupers were given 3 day bans, and some of them still had all the loot they gained from it.
Botters and speed hackers are one thing- they happen in pretty much any MMORPG. But exploits and hacks that allow you to accumulate basically unlimited wealth in a PVP-focused game centered around wealth accumulation are unacceptable, and then giving those people a slap on the wrist for it is icing on the cake.

Umm..no, it took them about 1-2 month to root out all of the exploiters and seize their ill gained items and currencies. 3 or a week banned players were not exploiters, they were the people who did business with exploiters, knowingly or unknowingly, Trion did not bother to distinguish between them and thus they lost a lot of customers that way. Most of the exploiters got at least 1 month ban, some perma banned, many of them created new account and out of spite started spreading misinformation that they exploited and did not get banned and then they got banned again on new account. If you believe every negative post on internet aout AA without actively playing it, it is not a good show of a proper healthy mind. Have fun though if these kind of shit makes you happy.

You are wrong. Gamers do not need developers. Developers are nothing without gamers.
Your portrayal of Trion as the hapless, selfless publisher who went so far as to lose customers to fight exploiting in Archeage and ultimately prevailed in wiping it out is not the same impression most of us have.

If you don't actively play the games they are handling and start making your decisions based on the shit flying around on internet then obviously you will have a made up crap image in your mind.
And i did not made them up to be a slefless publisher, you probably did not read where i said they are making a lot of money thus they are not going to ask XLGames to change more stuff for western audience. They can fly the devs in usa to change the stuff that helps them make money(cash shop related problems) and a little bit of security issue but they can't ask them to add in top grade regrade and tempering items in game as crafting recipe while still keeping them in cash shop?. See, i don't like to discuss these matters with people who don't play the game and spend their time bashing Trion, so i talk about these in their official forums.

Boy: Why can't I talk to Him?
Cosmetic can sell but having 1 or 2 there every 6 months to sell is not a good way to get people to spend if the cosmetic item is crap in the first place.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This has been going on for over a decade. It's no wonder so many players feel compelled to cheat early on. It's actually worth it in a lot of situations. I may hate it but it is what it is.

Amusing."
